Thanks for what you are doing. Listening to you makes me feel a little less crazy. If we were allowed to examine the flaws of capitalism, we could make some headway toward some root causes. I agree that the left is less bad than the right and embrace the idea that their ideas are the only path to resist the rightward shift occurring. The lure of oversimplified thinking and the need for our news and politics to be entertaining is hard to resist. Trump and a lot of the right have done well in shifting the blame to the wrong places. If we get the blame wrong, the problems persist and become more complicated. The left is not a monolith. Some also seem to be influenced by money. As a country, we are in bed with Saudi Arabia and Israel and thus do not want to deal with issues related to us having to be on "their" side. The majority of the left can lack self-awareness, which contributes to them losing more and more of the working class. Trump and the right did well in at least acknowledging those people and their issues.

The issue is not just Ana. It's Cenk. I am Cuban American, so I know how both far left and far right countries use tactics to divide. The original network was founded by a former Republican that was friends (Cenk) with a GOP strategist. Now given that the GOP is now in bed with Russia, they already know some of the tactics used in foreign countries. One of them is to infiltrate both political sides and to divide. Since the us has two large ones = left vs right. They infiltrated the right and Trump won. A fascist. But in order to do so, they had to split the left. I am progressive, a real one. TYT always attacked the Democrats far more than the GOP. Even though on the political scale they may be assholes, but they are closest to us and with a coalition government the ones to usually join forces with. Instead, he and the network steered many idealistic people to not think pragmatically about starting local and state progressive movements while backing the DNC on the Presidential side. No, they went into attacking the DNC but never providing a solution. What happens then? If you are young, and naive, you don't vote. Or you vote third party, and help Trump win. This was not as obvious in 2016, but being Cuban and always asking what an agenda is (and never trusting any outlet 100%) I kind of didn't buy all of their ideology. When they started to shift slowly about 3 years ago, and went onto attacking Biden far more than the GOP with more serious accusations than GOP candidates I was seeing the writing on the wall. The network itself was meant to create jaded nonvoters, now that's not selling as much. And Russia wants to create networks to support Trump so they are switching sides. Money of course helps. The moment they didn't unionize at will, and fought unionization, that was a given that they were not progressives at all. Or even left-leaning Democrats.

You brought up Jimmy Dore, but wasn't his case the exact opposite? He was MORE radical than the current Left at the time. A lot of people are using the term "grift;" but, at this point, it's virtually just slang for a disfavored political strategy. Looking for common ground with a political opponent may not be popular with the base, but it's a good-faith political strategy. People can become ‘defeated’ by their life or experience and when this happens we tend to carry ourselves a particular way, which is different to how someone who’s feeling great carries themselves. In lobsters, there’s a more physically apparent manifestation of this ‘defeat’.
