In his Philosophy of Walking, John Cowper Powys writes that, as we walk, the mind derives great interest and satisfaction from the simultaneous rapid change of what is nearest us, slower change of what is further away, and almost unchanging appearance of what is in the furthest distance.
These stories are really good and you tell them excellently. Thanks.
Good to hear about a happy ending. Only if we all could be that lucky.
How fortunate were Alice's family, and how we can dismiss people and their interests!
and so it goes ty ralf for the story
I think you have more than 12 stories in you to share, which are all amazing. Oh you missed out on whisky and other brown spirits as collectables, have you ever thought of that ? lol
❤
If I’d known you were going to read all the stories, I wouldn’t have bought the bloody book! 😉
. . . I'm not telling all the stories, only some.
Excellent! I loved how the family acted as a family should. Also, the way you relay these stories is perfect. You sir, have a gift.
My mom had a Salt and Pepper set, it was Silver and shaped like a Gunboat, my Dad has it now. ❤️
I cannot imagine the joy of finding each other again after all those years apart, only for it to be so painfully cut short. That is just so sad and cruel. I have no time for any religion that will stop people from living a happy loving life together. What a tragic tale. I suspect, one that occurs more than we realise.
Thanks for this Ralphy. I enjoy your posts (also the Malty ones) The feeling that the acquisition of stuff gives us serves only as temporary relief or distraction from the "seeking" of the peace we all long for. The amazon packet is not what we want, its the short lived feeling that the end of the anticipation gives us that keeps this cycle going. Its like a short glimpse of our true nature. The good news is our essence is that peace and its free. Is what Christians might refer to as the God shaped hole in all our hearts that only surrender can fill.
I love that you appreciate nature and like spiders!
Really interesting story Ralfy! I’m really enjoying these 😊 What kind of cigar is that you have there?
. . . Ghurka 18yo Blend.
@@fitterphilosophy oh nice! I’ve just recently taken an interest in cigars. Have you tried the Montecristo number 2?..If so what do you think?
So in the end the youngest had all the household items from the mom's home so ended up with something, and the oldest drug addict ended up losing her inheritance with her scheming. KARMA. PS....I didnt recognize you are first without your cap and tartan flannel jacket in the bothy.....but the voice is unmistakably Ralfy. I was going to ask you about your years working in the morgue/coroners/funeral business before, so am glad you are sharing some stories now!
thank you
I could believe that after all that transpired, the mother was never visited agian
Greed control power, awful ending.
Great Series. I have been thoroughly enjoying the stories.
Amazing Ralfy! I've been watching your whisky videos for years and it's fantastic to see this kind of content in your mind, soul & spirit. I'd love to hear more like this from you.
“You make plans and God laughs”
My grandfater used to say an ounce of luck is worth a ton of planning. You look like a man somewhere on the dark continent well concealed in a cozy village hut and sharing pearls of wisdom with all those wise enough to listen.
So true.
'Life makes plans for us'... Don't I know it.
I wonder just how many poor souls are in the same boat ?
. . . many.
@@fitterphilosophy too many !
thank you
I love these anecdotes, thanks for sharing them!
Hi Ralfy, really enjoying these videos. Could you please make them a bit longer, they're absolutely fantastic.
May I recommend listening to Think of me with Kindness by Gentle Giant.
Great story. It hits me close to my heart. I can relate. Thank you!
Intriguing story!
Went to Antarctica! Wow! ( Glad you're a lot better this week.x) ❤️
With the uncertain situation I am living today because of the ongoing war in my country Lebanon Your channel helps me to relax and have a break from all of that.
. . .good. I do hope things improve for Lebanon soon. It is a tragic situation.
Another wonderful story Ralfy, hope you feel better soon
Cheers 🥃
Splendid, Ralfy. Keep them coming!
Like you, I seen many similar situations in my 38 years in the industry. I know of a former town clerk, who has now passed away, receiving razor blades through their letter box, as a warning, not to take any action against larger than allowed memorials on a certain set of family graves.
What is a 'gainer' - unfamiliar with that one
. . . anyone who makes progress in anything.
"...on and on and on and on and on..." 😆 What a freakshow... 11:26
The weirdest one yet
You are the best raconteur ever!
Could be a story line for a Monte Python episode.
This is a very different Ralfie, interesting
I'm about halfway through your great book. I do a 'chapter' every night before I go to bed. Brilliant stories and a real insight into the nature of humanity (much like the 2020-21 era). I haven't quite got to this one yet but look forward to it! Cheers ralfy.
. . . thanks for buying my book !
Sounds like a nightmare !
I’m Roman Catholic Ralfy, and I too experience this problem. But I will not let my religion control who I love!
Beautifully retold, Ralfy! I am enjoying your books about life's experiences and the human conditions.
. . . thanks for buying my books.
Life is Strange Ralf, i listened to this one twice
Probably my favorite tale from the book, Ralfy!
A great story. I see why you retired from the business. I retired from police work after 25 years. I've seen it all, and had enough of it.
. . . I totally understand.
