    Sorry for the essay 😅 I’m just at 8:19 and I know I shouldn’t comment before finishing the video 😂 but I will anyway…besides, my comment isn’t about you guys…what you’re bringing up “what if these chimps were people” reminds me of my thoughts on medical testing on animals. I recently found out about a medical testing facility near my home town in New Iberia, Louisiana. It’s been there for decades and has already faced a lot of scrutiny. But I just recently became aware of it. I drove by, they house gorillas, chimps, and macaques (maybe others, not sure), you can see them from the road in their caged play pen type areas. I see job listings often for animal handlers/techs. Can we move toward a world where medical testing can be performed on consenting humans? Some of these animals are descended from test subjects, generations, since the 1980s, they have only known captivity, they are poked and prodded and loaded with chemicals and “cared for” by people (humans, fellow primates) who fear them, don’t want to be near them, and probably hesitate to allow themselves to feel compassion for them because of the violence of this publicly funded operation. There are disturbing parallels to human slavery, I obviously don’t want to compare human victims of slavery to these animals but is there any difference in how they are treated by the people in power? Anyway, it disturbs me. I probably won’t watch this documentary so thank you for your commentary!!!

    Old news. If Disney thinks this is bad, wait…wait for it, the pseudo-live action Rachel Zegler film Snow White Awakens cost half a billion dollars after re-shoots. It needs to make a billion dollars to break even d/t the interest accrued on the loan from Black Rock to make such a film. For anyone who still visits the parks count on another uptick on costs, say another $100/day?

    George R.R. Martin doesn't need to "earn the right" to be "unprofessional." Why exactly is it more professional to not talk and watch "House of the Dragon" turn into another dumpsterfire like season 8 of "Game of Thrones?" Because Warner doesn't want to lose stock value and Condal doesn't want to be criticized. No, I don't care about that. It's good that he's speaking out against bad writing changes. That way we'll all be able to enjoy a good season 3 and 4, hopefully, and not another hunk of garbage like season 8 was. George R.R. Martin knows better what would make his work better than these showrunners, he is the best to put it back on track. And it's also extremely obvious that Martin talked to Ryan Condal and HBO about this all before and they just haven't listened. So he's going out there publically to try to pressure them into taking his feedback more seriously. And he's completely right to do it. I want a good season 3 and 4. And the best way to get that is for them to listen to the man who came up with the story in the first place, rather than put their heads in the sand.

He's not "throwing people under the bus." What he's doing is rightfully criticizing terrible writing decisions that are being made so we get a better show to watch for season 3, not another trashfire like season 8 of "Game of Thrones." Also, the book "House of the Dragon" is based on IS finished.

There is a disagreement between the 2 parties and each party has stated with reason their opinion. Why deliberately add "heat" when there's none to begin with? your content is good enough to not require clickbait headlines for views. Do better, David.

    Why do people demand adaptations of their favourite works but then want those adaptations to slavishly follow the original work? If you want to experience the original work, it's still there, go read it. _Dune_ is one of my favourite books of all time. It has been adapted for live-action three times. None of these adaptations are "faithful", nor do I think a "faithful" adaptation is possible with such a dense and specific work, and some of its strengths (and weaknesses) as a novel just aren't going to translate to a different medium. But I like all three adaptations for what they're trying to do. The book still exists and people are still discovering it 60+ years later.

    • @shubhojitpal5490
      @shubhojitpal5490 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think you got confused between adaption of books and nonsensical Fanfiction. Making a line by line adaption of any novel is impossible yes but if in the name of adapting a book you literally change character dynamics, their motivation or even worse remove them from the story all together then that my friend is called Fanfiction and that's exactly what HOTD tv show is. Again I have no issues with fanfiction in general but DON'T SELL IT IN THE NAME OF ADAPTION.

    I love the book and I love the show. But I am disappointed because one of the things I loved about the show was that it was the ~real~ story while the book was the history. And history could get things wrong, and that was something that made the show unique and primed for adaptation. But when they leave out main characters or merge others, that’s more than getting the history wrong. I know I’ll have to let go of that aspect I REALLY enjoyed but I’m still a bit miffed about it.

    23:44 I agree with you Patrick, #HotD and #GoT will always be more popular than the books they are based on. Would you say the same thing about Harry Potter though? The Harry Potter books were already extremely popular before they were adapted. The films only made them more popular, but I would argue that the books are still more popular. My point is, although it is very unlikely, I do think it is possible for books to be more popular than their adaptations. I would argue it is also the case for Agatha Christie's Poirot novels. I also don't think The Last of Us show will ever eclipse the popularity of the games, but I could be wrong.

    • @digitaljanus
      @digitaljanus 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What's popular? You can't put Agatha Christie into the same conversation as Martin and Rowling, Christie had multiple global bestsellers when film still didn't have sound and television didn't exist, those books have been part of the cultural milieu longer than the media that adapt them. And also, Christie's books were adapted at a time when no one considered the film version the "definitive" version--it was just _a_ version of the original: the book. That would be like saying a particular production of Hamlet was the definitive version when the written play exists and there's always a new production. Harry Potter's probably going to remain relevant longer than ASOIAF because they're children's books, and thus much easier to actually read and handwave away their issues, plus parents will continue to introduce their children to stories they themselves loved. Whereas adults are often not interested in things their parents like, though that might be less of an issue with the continued PG-13-ification of mass culture. But part of the reason novelists seek out adaptations is because of the sales bump they get when an adaptation is released.

    11:26 As long as Martin is alive and healthy, I remain optimistic about him finishing the books, or at the very least The Winds of Winter. I may be in the minority but I refuse to give up hope.

  • @Mic-Mak
    @Mic-Mak 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

    0:38 I have little doubt that the creative team behind #HotD love F&B. However, I am personally not convinced that there are "few" people who love it more than them. Unless, they meant literally a handful of people, by "few". I remember Condal saying not long ago, that no one understands F&B better than him & Martin. That's like me standing in an elevator with Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, and saying we're worth billions of dollars. Respectfully, I think quite a lot of people understand and love F&B more than the writers. I'm genuinely curious if Condal and his team have ever engaged with the content of the fandom, by which I mean, the very popular and authoritative media critics and content creators in the book fandom who collectively have millions of fans. In early interviews of D&D they revealed that the reason they wanted to adapt ASOIAF, is because of Ned's death and the Red Wedding. They specifically wanted to adapt those moments on screen because it had never been done before. Those events happen between the first three books. I have never seen or read D&D praise Feast & Dance, the two later books, which when you look at #GoT, leaves me to believe that they don't really have an appreciation for them. What I'll grant Ryan Condal and his team, is that they are in a better position to judge the difficulties of adaptation. Perhaps, even better than Martin. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are right.

There was so many things they had already made that Had a at least the frame of it worked out already like an OBi one That didn't suck😂 maybe a Vader show or something about Qui-Gon? Honestly, even something to just explain how Ray Skywalker magically had force healing and everything else that literally made no sense would have been better than the acolyte😂 I mean come on. (Spoiler) There's two force sensitive twins. One, You never saw the body but would never even consider the fact that the one that you have with you might not be the one committing the crime😂 I mean this is Star wars. It's not like it's just happening in the middle of New York where nobody comes back from the dead😂 This is a magical universe where the body was never found and nobody for even one thought. Thinks maybe the twin with force sensitivity might be somewhere in the world instead of thinking that could just be a possibility. There literally hunting down someone they know and care about personally😂 The whole premise the show is based on is trash Not to mention, not that I'm bashing on using actors that nobody knows about because it's not like many people knew everybody that first played in the Star wars originals, but they just didn't really pick good actors for the roles to. I don't think personally I don't know They only good pick. I could see was the older Asian guy and the lady that fought the twin in the beginning but still not great.

Most of the things Disney's touched in the last 5 and 10 years has been absolutely butchered😂 If it wasn't for Ryan Reynolds Disney would be so far in the red in the last 5 years. It's not even funny except for it is. It's almost like somebody could tell them exactly how to avoid it😂😂

Up until the last 3rd I was hooked because I had often wondered how descendants of lords and nobility class could continue to afford these massive estates centuries after their lineage has come and gone. If you do some scenic driving throughout the UK you’ll see abandoned estates or estates up for sale. It makes sense that some lords who have fallen out of failure would “rent” their lands out to gangsters who would grow their cash crop while keeping these lords in the comfortable lifestyle. It’s also the ultimate statement that local authorities are biased towards class. So glad Season 2 has been green lit.

    I'm actually going to give it a watch because of all the hate it's getting.

    Dude that show didn't fail because it was "too big to succeed". It failed because it spat in the face of George Lucas, it rewrote star wars history to fit a political agenda and the story and acting were terrible. Stop lying.

      George Lucas spit in the face of George Lucas LONG before this show, and his movies have ALWAYS been political.

    I sometimes wonder about the alternate timeline where Lucas doesn't sell LucasFilm until 10 years later. And maybe at that point Hammill and Ford and Fisher are too old so Disney decides to either give them clear "passing the torch" supporting roles instead of leading roles, or they decide to just recast them or reboot the series altogether. Then maybe Star Wars could have forged a new 21st century identity for itself, apart from Lucas' Skywalker dynasty and the Empire. Oh well. My kids have no interest in Star Wars so after Andor Season 2 I'm out.

      Uh, Hamill, Ford and Fisher did have “passing the torch” supporting roles. Did you even watch those movies?

      @@digitaljanus yup, it's called a joke, princess. I actually have never watched the show. The trailer was so distasteful, I came to the conclusion that I could spend what little time I have to watch something I would be more interested in. Star Wars is great, but I would rather put my energy into better things, like my job, wife, daughter. Basic adult stuff. But, good luck with your "real lesbians that have babies" or whatever that means. Young lives need masculine father heads in their lives. I understand that they can get that role model from other places, but it's best to start from home. It's not a coincidence that we start accepting non sense like having more than one gender around the same time same sex parenting became acceptable. Too many simps.

      @@Rudinitus I’m so glad you had a masculine father head in your life because you turned out so awesome and cool and that was probably all his doing. Thank your masculine father head for us the next time you see him.

      @@Redjack10 nope, my dad wasn't there for me in my life. My uncle's and a couple of their Marine buddies are the ones who were father figures. Plus, there is nothing more awesome about me than there is about you. We are all awesome in our own way, some of us are just confused in life because there was no proper disciple. I have nothing against having two moms, especially when a father is not in a child's life like mine was and the mom is more comfortable with another woman. That is definitely better than a mom who sleeps around with multiple guys, having multiple men come in and out of a child's life. Humanity needs to get better, but it can't when it's filled with pansy's who get offended by a harmless joke...

    If it had better writing & and acting, then it could have succeeded, but literally the first scene was such a massive disappointment. Let's immediately kill Carrie-Anne Moss who we have been suggesting in all the trailers will be a main character. And that was just beginning of the bad decisions around the show.
