This is a walk around view and some commentary on the rescue of my 1976 Dodge Dart Lite from a back yard in Phoenix. The Lite had been sitting in this same spot for 10 or 15 years. Sunk in to the rocker sills with 4 flat tires. I purchased this car in Late October 2024. Purchased from a guy who had owned it since 1991. Came across your video here. Love the Colts. Never thought about running a 6. I see that this is a new enging build, what times have you run? Looks great.
@paulmarglin6222 Thanks for watching and your comments! If you look for the other videos you can see more about the Colt. Best time is 8.24 at 87.7 MPH in the eighth mile. I am having trouble launching the car and working this winter on Chassis improvements.
Sweet ride! I wonder if a little longer turnout of the collectors would improve scavenging? I love it! Definitely not something you see every day
@bens8696 Thanks for the view and comments! Yes longer collector and a 2 into 1 merge is planned for next year. It will also help my O2 sensor readings. I hope you watch my other videos and you will see my last dragstrip pass. The Colt was much faster last year, 8.26 @ 87 MPH.
slantsix hp cam would have been a treat! haha!
I have one of those, but it's green and white, and now has a340 4sp 😊😊😊😊
@jamesharrington4923 Thanks for watching! You have a Dart "LIte"?
@hyperpak2498 your welcome buddy, yeah it's a 76 dart lite, we found it in the woods where we was deer hunting
@@jamesharrington4923 WOW! That is great, glad you found it and saved it!
@hyperpak2498 ohhhh yeah and SOLID INSIDE AND OUT!!! the motor was locked up
@@jamesharrington4923 Did it have a fender tag or a broadcast sheet inside?
Hi great barn find i hope you get it back on the road again
@JoeFilardi Thank you for watching! Get it running and driving is the plan!
That dude should smoke another one!
I have a '68 Dodge A100 Tradesman, slant six, 3 on the tree! I love it! And I've been a Chevy guy my entire life
@brianwells4507 Thanks for watching! Slants are pretty cool engines.
ALUMINUM OVERDRIVE!!! NICE COLOR TOO! Have you loved your Mopar today?!?
@frankparks4900 Thanks for watching! Make sure you check out my other videos!
Good find. Not every day you run into one of those.
@duncanmacrae6384 You are right! I have been looking for years and they are rusty or wrecked or whatever. This one is 98% rust free and complete. And the engine turns over with the fan belt! Sitting for 10 plus years! Thanks for watching.
A SMALL Mopar world... Have you loved your Mopar today?!?
@frankparks4900 Yes, yes I have!
Ese distristribuidor cual es ?
@FranciscoSilva-yx9ke It is a Chrysler Electronic distributor. Thank you for watching!
Great to see the Colt in action ! She sounds strong ! I bet she'll get into the sevens when everything is all dialed in !
@lancesteele9719 Thanks for your comment, getting there!
This was a 170 cubic inch motor I believe, and I hate working on the engine because of the location of the dizzy. It's just a pita to change points sets in!!!!
@chuckhand8622 Mine is a 225 and I run an electronic distributor, no points! Thanks for watching!
what fuel pump are you using?
@Cowboy2659 I use the Holley Red Pump with a Holley low pressure regulator. They have a regulator rated .5 to 5 PSI. It works good however I monitor it with a gage and have to adjust it sometimes.
@@hyperpak2498 i have a dual weber carb setup on my 225 waiting on that same pump to show up. Glad to hear it got the right one. Im sure ill start having to mess with the ignition next but part of the fun. Yours sounds great btw
@@Cowboy2659 The Holley Regulator was the key part. Make sure you get the Low Pressure one. 12-804 is the number, 1 to 4 PSI. Good luck with your Slant. I have mine close to the 7's in the eighth mile.
Now throw turbo, and EFI on it
@chiefkikyerass7188 Thanks for watching!

@moparnut6286 Thank you. That was V1, I have made quite a few changes since then. Check this one out : th-cam.com/video/J3opfjw_B2c/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful been thinking a lot about putting a slant six back in my 86 ram it came with one originally with a 4 speed overdrive manual transmission wish I had all those 225s I scraped over the years fire that baby up and let us hear it
Love your car. Do you have a wall through on how you put the Weber system on? Your car is my goal
@cray3027 I did not do a walk through because they were in such bad shape when I started. I have learned a lot about them that is for sure. If you follow this link you can send me a message and I can give you some advice. www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/1972-dodge-colt.442249/
You got quite a lil speed demon right there! 10 sec pass? Or less? 8 sec? Can't really tell but it was damn fast!
@santiagogiuntoli6726 It went an 8.49 @ 87 MPH in the 1/8 mile. Fastest run so far. More to come.
@@hyperpak2498 ohhhh yeahhhh!!!! If you can upload some onboard footage... that thing must be a hell of a ride. Thank you!!!!
@@santiagogiuntoli6726 Next time out I hope to have a inside video to share. Thank you for watching!
1st to 2nd is the perfect RPM to shift, brother. You almost popped them front ones up on that gear change. I think it's way too much rubber for the power even though it is amazing. Unless those tyres and rims are stupid light. Can't imagine how rowdy that little beast is haha, love this build!!!!! Thank you for sharing!
@santiagogiuntoli6726 Watch this one! th-cam.com/video/KjnpnRemI6I/w-d-xo.html, best run so far.
Did you try shifting earlier with this setup? The stupid amount of torque on this engine on the down low is just ridiculous. The way the engine delivers power ain't nothin' like any other engine in my opinion. Great pull, badass build as I mentioned in some other comments, and the sound of that thing is glorious even through the speakerphones. Godbless
@santiagogiuntoli6726 I built a new engine over the winter. Look for the last video I posted. I have a ton of work to get it working, but it is already 1/2 second quicker and 10 mph in the 1/8. I am shifting at 6500 now. Thanks for your comments!
@@hyperpak2498 Most welcome my man... thank you for your uploads. I shall see if there's any footage of that man, would love to see some onboard! 6.5 seems a lil too much, but I reckon you went real rowdy on the tunin haha! Regards

Wow! That thing sounds good and your shifting sounds good too What did it run?
@scottstump9912 8.47 @ 87.7. Picked up half a second and 10 MPH from my best run last year. Still not coming out of the hole yet, 60 foot times are weak. Once I get it launched right it should be in the 7's. I appreciate you watching and being in my corner!
She getting faster and faster. Keep dialing her in ! Hopefully my short block 225 will be put together in the next 2 weeks and will sound this good
@Georgeyboy1987, let me know if I can help you. Colt picked up half second and 10 MPH from best run last year. Thanks for watching!
That sure sounded and looked like a strong run !! All your hard work seems to be paying off nicely !
@lancesteele9719 Thanks, it was a half second and 10 miles faster than the best run last year. Still looking for more. Thank you for watching!
@@hyperpak2498 You've built a really cool car ! I hope you can get her dialed in and show all of her potential ! Best of luck to you !
What an awesome piece of engineering. I grew up with my Dad owning and driving a slant 6 Valiant. It never looked or sounded this good, but when he dropped down a gear on the highway to rapidly overtake another car, you always felt that deep insìde that long stroke engine there was a speed demon lurking underneath all that torque.
@lukewise1227 Hey, thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
Hi just wondering if there is a tubro or blower or supercharger for the slant 6 ya nice induction system are you going to dyno it
@jameswbarry9576 They have all three of those. I am a NA guy, just trying to old school make it fast. But I might go EFI in the net few years. Thanks for watching!

@Mr9501 There is another video, as this build had a water leak into the oil. I had to build another head. Thanks for watching!

It's great that you're taking the road less traveled. My last project was a Chevy pickup, I spent a long time looking for a buildable 292 six. Most I went to look at were not a 292 at all, despite the 292 looking very different than a 250. I finally gave up.
@oldrustycars I am sorry you could not find one to build. It would have been a great engine for your pickup. Thank you for watching.
Triple Weber side draft’s…DAMN!!!
@suzukiyesteryear Pretty Sexy! Thanks for watching!
Why that front pulley not turning?
@basedsigma5634 Good eye, in this video there is no water in the block. So what you see is the motor that turns the water pump is off. The bottom pully is the crank shaft and that drives a small alternator! Thanks for watching!
I love how it sounds.

Without removing anything perform a leak down test
@marcelomurlo6426 Not sure what that would prove, it won't make compression on that cylinder. I could pressure that cylinder and perhaps find the air leak, but that head is no longer on the engine.
Less Is More....!
@marcelomurlo6426, She says, WOW, I could have had a V8! NOT! Thanks for watching!
