มุมมอง 4.7K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Modern XC race courses keep getting more technical, and modern XC bikes have adapted as a result. Blister bike editors, Simon Stewart and Dylan Wood, have been logging a whole lot of miles on two of those bikes, the Cannondale Scalpel and Yeti ASR, to not only see how they compare to each other, but also how practical they are for riders who are *not* racing against the clock. Norco Fluid VLT vs. Pivot Shuttle SL | Blister Head-to-Head Review
มุมมอง 1.2K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Norco Fluid VLT C1 130 and Pivot Shuttle Team XTR are both lightweight eMTBs with similar specs on paper - in fact, they weigh exactly the same. But does that mean they ride the same? Ski Touring & Backcountry Gear: The Basics & What You Need to Know
Once wet, always wet
Easily the best $400 I’ve ever spent on a piece of ski gear. Elevated my skiing exponentially.
What if you’re a woman what size 5 feet sometimes I have to buy it in the children’s department because my feet are small❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The guy needs to stop with the “Aaa”, “Aaa”…..
Bought one of the LiTRIC airbags after demoing it at the summit!
Would a Large Moterra SL fit a 6’2 person? XL seems way out of bounds for me, especially wheelbase and reach. Even seat tube and 490 is very high
Great video guys. Quality discussion that has me wanting both bikes!!
Get a good hard tail … 27.5 are crazy fun
Terrible video. Why ride an XC bike with long pants and all the rodeo clown getup??? Freaking elbow and knee pads…? Those are for pussies…WTH?
Nice video Great trail for the review!!
Underselling the DW as usual.... And no comparison of the DW to the Countach? Also, @Moment, please make a 195cm DW & DW104 , please
East Coast Rider with a hard tail on undulating, flowy trails. Want to upgrade to FS bike. Leaning towards trail bike category, not these bikes. Ibis Ripley, Santa Cruz, Pivot Switchblade, Revel Rascal are on my list. Great video and would love to see something similar comparing the bikes I mentioned. This video convinced me these are not my best option.
Guys,a 2,500 dollar price difference is not close. Take the 2500 dollars , upgrade the norco part spec. Suspension and brakes and then you can call it a comparison. Apples to apples men.
I am with you. 2500 would make a hell of difference on the spec
I bet if the Scalpel had a 5-10 mm higher riser bar, it would put you in a better descending position with the head angle up and a little les weight on the bars-- ie. trail geo. I wouldn't spend the extra $ on the Yeti, when both bikes are so good. Nice riding, vid, and production. I have a 2023 Rocky Instinct carbon. These bikes are a little under-gunned for what I usually ride, and I don't have long mountain climbs where I live... Short extremely steep climbs and drops/slabs/rocks/roots mixed in on short descents. I don't have the terrain for an Enduro bike and the trails are sort of slow tech and rugged, so an XC bike is not ideal. The modern trail bike is perfect for where I ride.
I started mtb in old school geometry, but recently purchased a preloved scalpel ultimalte. I wanted to try a modern xc. Old school geometry suits me better for going up technical terrain: steeper head tube angle/shorter wheelbase. For the same reasons, the modern xc is more capable for going downhill.
Great review. How does these type of new XC bikes compare to a Trek Top Fuel (Gen 3 or 4)?
Quite a bit different . Top Fuel is basically a trail bike (especially if spec’d with the 130mm fork). Descends much better, feels more stable etc, higher stack. XC (like the super cal, even gen 2), has much sharper steering, front is weighted much more , need to stay seated during climbs or can spin out. I ride both and prefer the supercal until I start to get beat up by rougher stuff.
We've got this direct comparison included in our Deep Dive of the Yeti ASR: blisterreview.com/deep-dive/deep-dive-mountain-bike/deep-dive-yeti-asr
Great review. any thoughts on the revel ranger and how it would compare to the ASR

A real quality product. Walk around in a size 10 shoe and in between sizes with ski boots so I go smaller...307 shell in a Dalbello Krypton w/ Intuition wrap. Tried on the Gara HV at a shop in NY. If there was a little space in front of my big toe you would have had another customer.
you could try a size down for the liner. the neoprene toe box stretches, it might be enough to make it thinner where you need it
Great discussion/video. I have a Scott Spark RC and I can very much relate to your comments on the two bikes. I have also found that getting the rebound settings right on both shock and fork can make a big difference in this type of bike (without being too anal). I switched the Twinlock remote over to the Rockshox Twistlock (both 3P) for the reasons that you mentioned and swapped the Transfer SL for a Bikeyoke Divine SL again for the rationale that you discussed. Thanks.
Is not a scalpel if is missing a lefty ocho
You guys made me feel bad. I do ride xc with tight clothes on. 😂 At the end I don't see anything wrong with it 😂
To each their own! ;)
Lol, I turned it off and gave thumbs down when made fun of wearing XC clothing.
exactly why you guys get made fun of
I’m mature enough to realize I look like a goober in XC/roadie gear while not caring about what others think because it’s extremely comfortable and functional for the intended purpose.
It has become the same old joke your old ass uncle tells you every time he shows up for a family event.
duas máquinas!
On any given ride way more time is spent climbing than descending. So makes sense to optimize climbing.
Very well done! As always
Sniper T has been doing this for years. Had it regret selling it
Thanks guys. Cool video. Going downhill on most any bike is a lot of fun. Climbing on the other hand can be fun, or not fun at all, depending on the bike. Since we spend most of our time on a bike not going downhill a better climbing bike will give you more smiles per mile. I still love my downhill bike for lift assist but for anything else I will take a relatively light trail bike with fast rubber.
Nice review guys and good discussion. At first i was asking “what are the geo numbers??” But then appreciated that you did spray the numbers on the screen and then that drove the results of the review. I found that I like this approach. Thanks
I am really debating if it is worth adding them as my 7th pair 😂
Too much talk and not enough rock.
Long journey for me to buy ZipFit. I have been watching all vids about ZipFit for around 1 year. I am sure it is perfect, I just need to mentality set myself for spending $500 for a liner. But I thing it totally worth it!
I did it 5 years ago, changed everything about ski boots for me. once you have them broken in and the fit is adjusted you will never ski anything else
Sven Coomer; legendary boot fit knowledge and a nice guy! I met and knew him in Mammoth.
So.. both Cody and Hoji are very much the reason Salomon and Dynafit boots are built the way they are, at a pricepoint near 1000 dollars. But still it appears that half of the boot needs to be replaced straight from the box with at part for 450 dollars more?
I'm speculating that Cody has some input on how boots ski and hike, not so much in design or category direction
Had some years ago, great performance & fit. Wasn't light, couldn't let them get cold - not able to get feet into boots! In the end they got so stinkey after a few year use (fresh socks always!) had to burn em :)
Just a small tip. Your black T-shirt makes the binding disappear. A white T-shirt is a good idea.
Again another mass-produced aluminum product with a short lifespan. Thanks to the pin lock, a breakage is almost guaranteed, especially when the shovel use by hard and frozen snow with temperatures of 20 °C. The only professional snow shovels I consider are high-quality, durable, ultra-light and sustainable are only shovels wo made of carbon and titanium material, the rest are practically not recommended.
No way I see Crested Butte randomly on YT like what?
Great stuff, but could have done with questions about when a lighter GFT touring liner will come out.
Will you be adding Heat to the liners?
What about the GFT? Touring always takes a backseat.
Fewer people do it
Hey @jonschmitt232 we were not demoing the GFT at the Blister Summit and we talked about it at length in our previous year's video with their team. We're here with any questions you might have on the GFT.
Love my Zipfits. Warm, comfortable and great performance on the hill.
Going on season 6 with mine. Absolutely love them. StartHaus in Truckee set me up. Zipfit customer for life.
please interview an actual industry pro like a ski instructor, ski patroller, not a professional athlete or gear reviewer, or one of your recommended shops please.
ive had probably 60-70 days a year on one pair of zipfits for 5 years, everything theyve said is accurate.
I use them and love them. Going to buy a pair for my SO too. I'm not affiliated with anyone.
@@calleX are you an instructor? Patroller?
Hey @therealtflyes2794, Jeff here from the video. I work on our product design here at ZipFit now but previously worked as a ski patroller and ski coach for 8 years. This video is part of a series that Blister did with reps from brands that attended the Blister summit last year. Check out some of Tom Gellie's videos for a ski instructor perspective though, he's great!
I'm an instructor, i used zip fits first time last year for the whole season, i love them, i had to inject a lot of cork but they are really good and more you ski them the better they get, I've ordered new boots fischer rc4pro with the zipfit made for them, i expect it will take me a week or more to dial them in and will top up cork throughout the season, but they will not pack out and will improve over a few seasons, will be interesting to see how many seasons they last. would recommend for people skiing many days, if you're only skiing one week a year they might not be for you.
Thanks for a great week Blister! Awesome job with this cut too :)
how could we try these on to know which pair is the best for me?
whew!
:)
I'd like to see this format with regular bikes
Stay tuned!
What was so interesting about the floor that they're all looking at?!
I would like to know how the Amflow PL Carbon Pro will compare against this two bikes.
I like the new colors on full tilts now that they are k2 branded. The old full tilts look like a teen that was all edge no point picked the colors and designs
