Another top video Chris you liking the Durston ive got the X-mid Solid gret tent.
Thanks man, yes love the Durston, only thing is I’ve been used to the extra room of the zpacks triplex so the Durston feels pretty tight with 2 people, I can see my self getting the xmid 2p+ pro. Cheers
Good mission 😎😎👍
Thanks Tony! Always good to get out there and stretch the legs eh!
Great country in that block. I think I've struck every sort of weather imaginable in there, but still a great place.
Thanks man, yep some awesome country in there! Thanks!
Hi great content.. I’ve been using the hand warmers in my boots during those frosty winter nights .. put one in your socks and them inside my boots pretty good
Thanks man, yea the old hand warmers are a great thing!!
A sign your getting a little older ay, taking little Hotties 🔥 in a packet to warm u up! Lol good call!! Looked like strong animal numbers where u were for sure, i feel bad not taking more meat too but it is what it is!, your knees will thank u for it later in life, cheers greg
Haha yea man, Older and wiser!! :) Good animal numbers up there, not crazy high but enough to happily take a couple of hinds out! Cheers!
love it. as always
Thanks man appreciate it!
Cool video, what KUIU gear did you run on this trip?? Cheers
Thanks man, I have a bit of kuiu gear, My usual kit is firstlite base layer, kuiu pro merino hoodie, peloton 200 hoodie, super down puffer, axis pants in winter and kutana stretch pants any other time of year, yukon gaiters, kutana storm shell jacket. Think that's it :) Cheers
Deer, deer everywhere..... awesome video Chris
Thanks man appreciate it! Yep there was a few deer kicking around eh :)
How good… 😊 Nothing wrong with just taking a couple of back steaks, or even some photos, depending on the circumstances. Always better for hunters to be doing the game management.
Thanks mate, yep there definitely is a few too many deer kicking around so a couple of hinds less is a good thing in my books :)
@@WildNZOutdoorsOtago ?
Nice work 👍
Thanks man!
Cheers Chris... Thanks for sharing
No worries man :) glad you enjoyed!
Did u take ur meat of deer
You guys make great vids. Thanks.
Thanks, really appreciate the comment! Cheers
Got the same tent mate. Good choice
Yea man seems like an awesome piece of kit! Thinking will need the 2p+ for a little more room :)
Awsome country. Good to see the wife out with you.
Cheers Mark, Is nice to get her out there! Needs to happen more!
Excellent, thanks
No worries man glad you enjoyed it! cheers
sucks that theyre all in velvet.
would have nice to take them in hard antler man i agree but much better on our wall and in our memory than dead on the ground because of poison :) cheers
Mate what an experience that would have been, nice work on the stag and the video footage 😎
Thanks man! Was a magic experience!
Epic country, what an adventure. Great stag! 😊
Cheers man! Was certainly one to remember!
Awesome work 👍
Thanks man
Nice work what calibre are you guys using in that big country?
Thanks man, Matts rifle is a tikka 7mm rem mag and mine is a 7mm blaser magnum. awesome calibre!
Becoming very professional in your presentation. I admire your efforts, and success
Thanks very much, each video keeps getting better i recon :) cheers for the comment
Another epic trip! Well done chaps. How did the bow hunter get in?
Thanks mate, Owen had an off day missing a stag and spooking a cham. He then bailed out a day before us. I have some great bow hunting footage coming up where owen redeems himself. Keep an eye out! Cheers
You poachers are all the same!
??
You'll have to come with us next time! :)
You saying this isn’t public land?
Sorry, was a bad joke bud. These guys are my mates
Nice one mate , another epic looking trip
thanks mate, summers not far away! eh get into it!
While hunting or tramping I love the sudden exciting sight of red deer in beige tussock, during summer when the deer coats are their deep orange colour, and also summer chamois are a beautiful deep fawn colour, with the black stripe down the backbone, and their black face mask, and they too stand out strikingly in the beige tussock during summer. Both species have quite differently-coloured hides during winter, as you know, and do not stand out so markedly in the winter alpine landscape. Good video. I hunted plenty, and worked for NZFS in the South Island alpine during the 1970s and 80s. Shame that the place is going to be 1080ed , but clearly from your video, not enough hunting, so, there is an overabundance of deer there, so the 1080 will simply control them and then they will bounce back soon enough. Keep up the hunting, guys.
Great one fellas. Footwear of champions 😂
Thank man. Yep some not half bad boots there ! hahaha
EPIC, just an absolute epic mission fellas do the hard yards, get the rewards!, enjoyed every moment watching it, stunning scenery indeed, those hills dont get any flatter the older we get either!, absolute shame it got poisoned, have you seen or heard how its knocked the numbers at all in there?, cheers fellas, greg
Cheers for the comment Greg. The 1080 has hit it very hard. previously as you can see but the video there was good amounts of deer in there and had reports of only 2 deer sighted last trip in there. Such a shame as the blood lines running through there were amazing and the place was starting to produce some amazing trophies! Hopefully it bounces back.
I'll give you a thumbs up before even watching the vid, I already know it'll be quality. Thanks for the time and effort.
Cheers man! Appreciate it! Let me know what you think!
@@WildNZOutdoors as expected Chris, top notch. Matty's stag is an absolute cracker, that "farm stag" also had a mad head. Really nice location and a real honey hole of heads. Have you been back since the 1080 drop?
What an epic mission. - loved the long video. That's not even big country territory - that's mighty country! You lads have some very impressive fitness.
Thanks mate, didn’t know how people would go with the long vids as I usually try to keep them about 30mins. Cheers for the comment! Fiordland is an amazing place! Definitely need a good bit of fitness in there! Cheers
Onya Chris . . . lots of real primo footage . . . cheers for sharing. (I couldn't see anything in the last 12 mins tho?? (Is that where you hid footage of the massive 14!!!)
Thanks Greig, Such a cool place aye! Can't wait for another go in there. Not sure what happened with that last 14 mins :) I have edited it out now. Cheers
Nice one, really enjoyed that 👍
Cheers Greg was a lot of fun that mission!
Awesome vid Chris one question I see you guys use hyperlite packs what size are they . Cheers
Hey Barry, Yea we use those Hyperlite packs a lot, run the 4400 size but i have since changed to a Southernlite Pack NZ made and loving that! Cheers
Top effort guys. Always see a few deer there, but not that many!
Thanks Craig yea I think that year was a bit different as was heavy snow. Concentrating the deer to those areas. I have been in the same area a few times again and was no where near those numbers :)
Awesome. We don't know how lucky we are
We don't man, unreal backyard we have to play in!
Big effort lads, well done 😎😎👍
Cheers Tony!
Great video, your right about your stag being shot well before it's time. Looks like it may only be a three year old that probably would have made 350DS at nine or ten years of age. Some top genetics in that country that just need good decisions and time. Off topic but any Chukar seen?
Thanks man, we are pretty sure he was at least 4 years old. Which yes is too early to be shot. Lesson is make sure you age the animals yourself :) Will always be a great memory but is also a shame, cause he would have been massive! Nope no chukar seen in there. Cheers
Thanks man, yes I’ll be the first to admit that he was too young. Is a shame as he would have been massive in time. Is all learning though! And will always be a great memory. I’ll let the next one like that walk for sure. Nope no chukar seen in there. Different area man. Thanks
Great video once again, love the bike and trailer
Thanks man, yes was definitely a good way to travel! Haha
Cool vid herb
Thanks mate! Was a cool trip
Nice vid . . .thanks for sharing Chris
Cheers Greig!
Stonker lads, be keeping that valley to yourselves!
ripper stag how long and wide ?
Thanks man I’m pretty sure it went 37” long and 36” wide
Epic, epicness 😎 Cheers fellas !!
Glad you enjoyed! Cheers
What a stonker!
Wicked stag in his prime, next level country to, good stuff fellas
What’s that spotter adapter case you’ve got bro? I’m running the phoneskope adapter case but that looks different
Cheers man, was a magic trip!
@@caijager9946 I personally am running the Phone skope and matt has the swaro case. cheers
Awesome, I run the Bonfus pack as well. How did you make the scabbard work nicely?
cheers man, my pack is a Southernlite pack, made in NZ here. Luke made it up for me.
Lovely animal and a great stalk, well done 🙂. I'm also interested in the rifle, its calibre and the distance if you can guys. Outstanding video, well done.
Was great to take such an old battler! Cherrs Distance from memory was about 275 yards so not a long shot. Rifle was a tikka t3 30.06 thanks!
Result 😎😎 🤙
Cheers Tony, was definitely a good one!
Great trip guys, thanks for taking us along . Keep them coming.
Cheers man! Glad you enjoyed it! Plenty more on the way!
Stunning country and an equally stunning 11 point stag, only joking, cracking stag
Amazing country eh! Such an amazing area! And pretty stoked to get an old stag like that. Cheers
