Uninspired Rise hate in the first 3 minutes? Great stuff. It's an arcadey action game using the MH formula, tracking the monsters every quest wouldn't add to the experience. I started in the old games, btw, so this is coming from a place of experience with paintballs and all that. I'm sure the rest of the video will be good, but come on man, let's use our heads here

Super quick and simple damage formula explanation; Each weapons attack combo has a Motion Value (MV) that represents a percentage of the true raw damage of the weapon. For instance, if a weapons attack has a MV of 30 it will do 30 percent of its true raw max damage with that attack. You just subtract the MV from each monsters parts HV (hit value, because yes each monsters individual part takes a different fucking percentage of damage) and bam you get your damage.

Playing Bow/Bowgun back in the older games when ranged classes took more damage is crazy. Playing HBG without shield mod is even crazier, though I guess its different when playing in a group where you arent constantly drawing aggro.

This retrospective finally gave me the confidence to accept my love for Bowguns. I always felt a little guilty for playing Bowgun because people feel like playing Gunner isn't actually playing MonHun but seeing how you nonchalantly talk about it gives me hope. My most used weapons are still HH and GL but the Bowguns hold a special place in my heart that I wasn't comfortable expressing.

I played so much of this that my fingers would bleed. I only stopped playing after the 36th Gold Rathian didn't drop the last ruby I needed. I wish I can settle the score still.

This Video is a treat :) As someone with 900-1000 h in this game a couple of tips for newcomers to MHFU: - Make a habit to collect honey at the farm after each quest! - The movement speed buff from the hunting horn makes it one of if not the easiest (melee) weapon because it makes it way easier to reposition yourself without sheathing your weapon!

FU is the one MonHun game I am never going to touch. 3U is as far as I'll go back, and I loved my time in 3U.

just what I needed. thanks! there is a speedrun from 0 to ukanlos and he had to do over 80 kutku arena quests in the run since it's the fastest way to farm kills for the unlock.

What you brough up about chameleos is correct, but i'll say, when he goes invisible in rise he still disappears on the minimap, he just doesn't go invisible when idle like he used to, but him going invisible still plays quite the part in the fight as you need to pay attention to the particle effects and sounds since it likes going invisible when moving around quickly.

Back when i play this game when i was a kid im great sword/dual sword user bro dual sword is so op in late game if you have drag attribute just fck some dragons on the head and ur good to go 💪🏼

I really feel that starting comment about the MH series going backwards, and I fully agree. The monsters are getting more and more insane and 'anime' feeling; they're getting further and further away from anything remotely believable. The whole game is missing out on mechanics that were 'annoying' on the surface, but weirdly fun, like having to keep up paint-balls on a monster to track it, or having to gather things and it actually being a thing you had to put time and effort into. I feel like they're streamlining everything with each new Monster Hunter game. It's just getting simpler, and simpler, and focused more on just boss fights with pretty atmosphere, instead of actually 'hunting' a monster. The whole 'hunt' part of monster hunter is slowly becoming 'battle a monster' because anything akin to hunting an actual creature is slipping further and further away. It's why MHFU will always be my favourite MH game. It's truly a perfect example of what MH was, and should continue to be within reason.

I spent so many hours in this game and had a lot of fun. It's nice to watch this video during dinner and feel the nostalgia. I loved Monster Hunter World but MHFU has a special place in my heart. Thanks for your work man.

Pronounciation and ecology need some work but damn am I enjoying this video a lot 3.5h in!!! To clarify, elder dragon is a classification based on power and uniqueness, not any heritage. Tigrex is more primitive because it’s like something between a sugar glider and a fully flying bat. Implying that wyverns evolved from a land dwelling ancestor. [edit] ok so after like 4 days I have finally finished this video, and it was amazing!!! I would have liked to see at least a small section gushing over the INCREDIBLE use of Proof of a Hero when fighting Lao, the only thing that makes that fight fun and all the amazing moments that can bring. This got me to power up my PSP again, sadly stick drift makes it unplayable so I had to resort to an emulator. All the memories that flooded into my mind was like interacting with an object that triggers a cutscene, it was amazing.

i think the reason you can see where the monster is at all times in rise is because of your Cohoot (the owl pet) that you throw into the air before every hunt

I have been playing the hell out of Unite lately on my vita. Such a good game. I started off playing through Monster Hunter Freedom on the PSP. Freedom was a phenomenal game and it's amazing how they could fit such a well-rounded gaming experience into such a small, handheld package. But Unite tops it and makes so many quality of life changes from Freedom. You're a legend for making such a comprehensive video on Unite. I consider it to be THEE definitive early gen Monster Hunter game.

13:15 It is not a straight port. Freedom has a ton of balancing changes, qol changes, additions and things removed. It introduced the farm, kitchen and gathering hall. But removed the original online hub, the og skill system, the limited inventory and the overall more demanding, slower gameplay of the original. In my opinion.
