Probably should have included an artists impression of what it's going to look like. Currently looks like a cluster F***.
I watched this and thought 'Yeah but it's not like you get stabbed in Newcastle. Then I remembered that I am the nephew of Stan Lee who was stabbed to death out the front of Egan Surf in Darby st a couple of decades ago
There are some shocking pockets of below average housing in North Lambton , Wallsend and even Belmont north . Not as much as what you mentioned above in your video . Oh what about the housing commission complex’s in bar beach , cooks hill and Newcastle east ? There are plenty more areas worth a mention
This would be great if the M15 Hunter Expressway connected to the Inner City By-Pass and the Inner City By-Pass can better connect to the M1 at both ends.
Lived in Mayfield since 2006. It's grown up a lot
big true from me t. Mayfield
Catho, caves beach, Swansea, blacksmiths, pelican, redhead, Dudley, merewether, all close to the coast with the easterly breeze 10 degrees cooler than everywhere else and quiet, warners bay is a sweat box. There or nowhere.
You had me there!! I live in Jesmond in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. News of a new by-pass surprised me!! Wrong country! 😂
I’m living in Shortland now. Lots has changed since I moved here in 2007. Lock your cars and house at night. Newcastle is overall a great city. I find everything I need without leaving the LGA.
As a Train driver in Newcastle, it always blows me away how long trains are when seen from above. I know they’re that long, you’re always thinking about where the back of your train is while you’re driving along, but seeing it from above compared to the rest of the city really puts it into perspective
What’s your thoughts on Edgeworth ? What are the pros and cons ?

I call it "The Newcastle Syndrome" We are treated like Sydneys retarded cousin up the road. For the second largest city in NSW we get shafted all the time with basic infrastructure needs. We have had 'The road to nowhere for what, 20 years? the Tourle St Bridge fiasco, the end of the M1 to Raymond Terrace bypass procrastination and many many more. At least things are finally happening but it should have been started 20 years ago!
Yeah Sydney people, avoid Newcastle, don't come here...go to Port Mac instead..
Go the dale,at one stage about 20 years ago, there was a news report that said windale had more drug dealers per head than anywhere else in the southern hemisphere, and in the late sixties, early seventies it had the nickname of dodge city, because thats what the cops would do if they could
I thought Sydney is the only city in NSW
Newcastle is terrible, terrible, terrible... Please stay away.
One of the reservoirs has been turned into a carpark for the Mater hospital, check out Google earth.
When is the finish date?
Newy is nothing like it used to be. There used to be respect fights and fun. Soft cocks didn't last long. Bit different these days
Still going to be a bottleneck at lights into Jesmond ,traffic from newcastle and from south going west.
LOL Mayfield is tame AF compared to some places i've been in western sydney 😂😂😂
100% Newcastle just has junkies an little white lads, nothing to be intimidated by.
Irrespective of the politics, it will be a great outcome once finished. Thanks for the vid. Rocky loved his visit to Newcastle back in 66.
nice video mate keep up with the updates
I was pretty accurate until you mentioned Fennell Bay, sure its git some problems but i've never heard of it being known for hig DV rates. I think you it confused with Bolton point which is notorious for those problems. Lol
Was that filmed during Easter break as there is no machinery moving. No surprise it took 9 years for one of the sections to finish. Anyway it’s good to see something is happening
Fun trivia. The Charlestown Bypass section is not the whole original planned section 1. The original plan was for a Pacific Hwy deviation to branch off the existing highway at the front of the the golf course at Belmont South, cross Jewells swamp and run up alongside the railway line (now Fernleigh Track) through Whitebridge, to join City Rd near the water towers at Adamstown Heights. The Inner City Bypass was supposed to branch off that north east of Bennetts Green, with a flyover where the current end is.
What you describe is a totally different bypass.
@@jimrockford3662 I described the Pacific Hwy deviation, in order to explain where the Inner City Bypass would have started to connect to it.
Section 2 now needs to be further upgraded, to eliminate the traffic lights and move the school zone onto a separate side road. This could be achieved by building a grade separated interchange at the top of Carnley Ave and extending Main Rd to connect to it. This would enable other changes that would eliminate all traffic lights and most right turns on and off the through road.
I've always thought it should have been a toll road. Would've been built in a few years 😂😂😂
our taxes already paid for it.... i am not paying for it again so they can profit.
@@cubiusblockus3973 yeah I know...I said it should have been a toll road....we would have gotten it much faster
I hate Newcastle as I gotta work in the area from Sydney and now know it better than Sydney but still wouldn’t live up there
You think Newcastle's been neglected? Come to taree where we have no decent infrastructure for current traffic demands, almost non-existent public transport, and a tiny country hospital that is supposed to service a population just shy of 100,000 people.
Everywhere is neglected. That's how it works. Traffic is only fixed when it's about 20 years too late.
true
considering newy is 2nd most populace city in the state and the last project was 40+years ago... id say they have been neglected. 40+ years of taxes and no infrastructure upgrades?
So is it going to go under McCaffrey Drive, or over?
over under pass. Ill show an end result
💣🇪🇭👍
I built a house in shortland in 1970 I was in my twenties and this was on the books then, here I am and I`m 80 and it`s only now being built it`s a shame Newcastle dose not start with an S (Sydney) maybe I would have had the pleasure to drive on this necessary piece of inforstructure before I die
Exactly. We needed NNSW State to get up back in the day.
Does anybody know Hayley riches causley that went to Kotara high school
Also Warners bay does obviously have many busses but be where of Warners bay high, trust me you don't want to send your kid there
Omg I was hoping Warners bay was gonna be on here as I live there, and the lake in the morning is beautiful
That’s great Newcastle is getting another bypass, but there’ll be headaches with it, as a Sydney sider I e experienced new roads over the years and being a truck driver yeah you get to a place quicker but so does everyone else, good luck in the mornings at peak hour leave home earlier. at least there won’t be a toll on it like Sydney
Amazing. I lived in Newcastle my whole life and never knew this existed. Now that's it's empty, it looks like the kind of place my friends and I would have ridden our bikes around when we were kids. I can see us making it a racing circuit. Would've been better than our little dirt circle in Islington Park. 😎
A bit behind the times. Merewether is a high crime rate suburb now.
You picked the right time to take the video. All the traffic is flowing so smoothly. Unlike the rest of the day 😉
Places to avoid in Newcastle: Newcastle
Nah the whole area is uninhabitable and just like the dark place where the hyenas live in The Lion King. Tell all your friends, don't come here 😂
Yeah what he said, Newcastle, it's awful, crack addicts everywhere, really cold and there's nothing to do.. The beaches suck, can't find a policeman anywhere, no education standards & you'll probably drown inside a bullshark if you're not careful. Go to Gosford or Ourimbah, it's beautiful and people are sober living, hard working and very friendly.
on the plan in the 60's just imagine how much it would of cost back then
Drop the drum music… not necessary to show the progress.
Waratah always had the bad reputation, these days it’s become mostly gentrified and prices have shot up, there are a few public housing spots but overall development in places like prince street has exploded in the last few years
Didn't think I'd live to see it
My local
I had some one threating me and stalking me for years going through court's about it
Proudly supporting cocaine to the Newcastle Knights
