I had the pleasure of restoring a mk1 Capri which was a Crawford convertible complete floors seals with all new old stock panels back in the late 90s Just to correct one subject Jensen Interceptor made & produced a 4 wd model in the late 60s

If Ford were to re-launch the Capri I think it would be a big success, so tired of hideous SUV's

I have owned 4 over the years, including an Auto like yours.. Well worth getting on the road again, you have got to love the straight 6 engine. I've had a 2.5 s , 25 pi , 2000 estate and a 2000 auto saloon.

Machanicly these where great cars but as with most uk built cars from year dot nothing or very little was ever done to protect against rust And alot of the triumph 2.5 L s ended up on the banger track Same with ford granadas

You don't see these now not a barn find the paint has had it and looks a good engine bay it's just depends how bad 😅underneath and the bottom of the doors boot lid wheel archs and sills but they are really rare because like any vehicles of that generation is rust hopefully you do get it back on the road even if it isn't in perfect looking but I will need welding so hope you are good at welding but I will stick to my focus MK1 with 30 thousand miles with service history and I don't need to get my welder out yet

Hello just joined your channel and glad to see an old triumph 2000 my dad owned one many years ago it was his last car before he went into hospital with Alzheimer’s so the car holds a lot of memories for me as it was the first car I ever drove at the tender age of 15 R.I.P Dad

I wish you well with your purchase. It would be great if you can save it. The alloys were used on the later 2500S saloon and estate or indeed Stags as their standard wheels from around P reg . All the very best

Great to see another barn find being rescued and hear it running, but, having checked for spark, lubed the bores, checked for fuel and got the starter freed off, I would respectfully make some suggestions first and foremost you should have dropped the over filled "oil" and replaced with new plus filter (as it may be collapsed) blocked. As the old "oil" has had 20 or so years to settle it was pointless try to start it and spreading all the contaminated around a dry engine, pouring in new oil at the filler of the engine would have coated all the valve gear, cam, cam chain, right down throughout the galleries and the oil pump pickup tube would have sucked new oil in and pushed it throughout the galleries and bearings, I'd then recommend cranking it over with plugs out thereby, less stress on the starter and all bearings, pistons bores and cam are getting lubed up before being loaded. The reason it ran was the spray down the throat which means the carburettors/float chambers are empty and probably blocked with 20 years of crud! You managed to get it partially cleared by persisting to crank with the starter for much too long. A new starter motor £100 to £250, patience cost but a little time! And don't drive it with the rachet strap hanging round the back bumper thowe bumpers not cheap or easy to find a good one😆 keep up the good work looking forward to seeing more progress with this one. Just in the process of recommissioning a Triumph myself!👍😁

can you share what was the state of the fuel tank, fuel pump and the fuel... I just looked at my project car only to find the petrol tank and contents totally not usable. E10 petrol no doubt.

The engine started off in the Standard Vanguard, great engine, the wheels are off a 2.5 TC MK 2 Triumph, Well done for saving the old gal ! 👍

Nice. Around 1986, my brother bought a Triumph 2000 just like this, same reg 'K' reg, and same colour. He won it for £300 ( about £1100 in today's money), at Southampton Car Auctions. That Damson colour was a quite popular Triumph colour in the mid-70's. I recall that quite a number of TR6's were damson.

I had a 2500 pi estate. It was a rocket ship. Always wanted another.

They were Hard Enough to Start when they were New !!!!! .... .

I had one of those, and it was in that condition when it was seven years old. And no I did not abuse it,it just fell apart

I've grown up (I'm 30 now and my fist event I attended i was 3 years old) in the Triumph 2000/2500 register and I love these cars! Glad you're enjoying it mate!

Those old Triumph engines are basically bullet proof. The body rust will be the challenge!

If you can successfully get this one back on the roads, that's all that matters.

There is a inhibitor switch on the gearbox, most likely the reason it wouldn't turn over initially. Good luck.

Great to see that youve saved it,keep us informed on the progress of restoration.Far too many have been smashed or scrapped.Father had loads back in the 70s & 80s so they hold great memories for me.

Carb needs cleaning

My father owned a 1971 Triumph 2000 Estate from new until the mid 1980s great car

Id would have pressurised the tank by using a bunch of rags plugging the filler hole and using my compressor and airgun fill it with air , the pressure should force fuel up to the carbs without straining the motor .

I think its worth it , it was a star in its day , still got heart worth saving

1000 quid ...... its worth approx 200 at best. They never really reached collector status. Had 2 ..... the 2000 and the 2.5 with the overdrive gearbox.

Lovely motors...i had one in the eighties ,acquired fir a song and i loved it....till the big six siezed up while a freind was using it and i was abroad travelling . and he scrapped it before i returned....😂

It's funny, I found this channel when looking for videos about the Fiat 126. I watched that one, set in Hungary (where I used the live from 2011 to 2018), then found this video set in Evesham, near where I was born! A Mk 1 Escort was my first car after passing the test in 1982 but they were dirt cheap back then.

I watched the road test and thought, that looks like Hungary, there is something distinctive about the architecture.

Par les éléments spécifiques je peux vous dire que le modèle que vous avez trouvé est une Rancho X, une série limitée qui disposait d'un intérieur un peu plus luxueux, des vitres teintées, des jantes alliage (qui pouvaient être montées en option sur les autres modèles) et surtout du compte-tour qui n'a jamais été monté sur d'autre Rancho que la X. Et cette couleur ("Armagnac métallique") existait aussi d'origine, justement pour la X.

I had a Sport in Seabring red, my first respray, had a Mexico in Daytona yellow, saved a few other decent cars from the banger track, a crashed MK2 RS 2000, destined to be a grass track car, nice to see the interest is still there
