Tips for Great Saxophone Altissimo (Andy Snitzer)
Thank you!
This is so freaking good! One of the greatest of all time!!!
🙏🏻
Beautiful performance at the beginning!
Yessir!
Thank you my bruv, 🙏🏻
How beautiful is that solo ❤
Thank you John🙏🏻
I want to see the sax solo of restless!!!
@AndySnitzer1030 Thank you for your artistry and inspiration over the years. Not only have I absorbed this episode with Everette Harp many times, but also many of your posts (many times!). You have a huge and expressive tone (on both alto & tenor) … and wonderful lines. I wish you many more rapturous musical moments. hug 🫂 from the road Dr D
Thank you sir, very much appreciate your thoughts 🙏🏻
I remember the first time i heard Everett harp i said oh Shit there's a new player in town and when i heard "when i think of you" i said wtf I've just heard the song of life.🙏🏾
Absolutely amazing:)
Thank you! 🙏
What's with the knee lift!!!!
Hi Andy. I was wondering if you and Everette have thought about a tribute to Mr. Sanborn.
Hi Patricio. We play lots of Dave in this package 👍🏻 majorscalemanagement.com/inspirations
@@andysnitzer1030 Thank you very much for your response and info. 🤗
Awesome musician
Snitz, you are a terrific host. So enjoy all of the interviews. What a lovely guy Kirk is; and to have all of his/your friends here to support this! Love to see Euge Groove, keep ‘em coming!❤
G Man is one of my very favorites; so rhythmic, percussive, funky. ❤
Big element with Trevor James- Dave Farley is designing the RAWs. Yes, manufactured in Taiwan and set-up in Kent, but I think the quality comes from Dave, and from the team soliciting input from pro players and techs.
Oh ThAnK YoU Andy re: transcribing; I don’t understand it. You gotta do you! BTW, Jake from State Farm; “She sounds hideous!” 😂 Everette is fantabulous!
So interesting; I cannot flutter tongue anymore! Used to, but when I came back to horn after a 13 year lapse, it just doesn’t work!😂 Huge, gorgeous tenor tone, Richard!
I felt that my Custom Z was too focused, almost monophonic. The TJ SC is spread, so complex and full. I do like a focused alto, though, and am happy with my Yamaha YAS-275 alto. Andy, hard rubber can scream, at least on alto. My Wanne Amma is modern and powerful.
Jeff is so kind; emailed with me before I decided on buying the Trevor James, also convinced me to get my C414 mic. One of my favorites and a great guy!❤
I L❤VE this! I’m not quite in your guys’ league, but I love gear talk and I’m really proud to be a fellow TJ SC RAW endorsing artist. Andy, Kim, Steve, and Jeff; and Sandro is awesome!
The beginning track is this from the movie SIDEWAYS?
comparison Jody jazz super jet vs theo wanne mindi abair
SUPEEER!!!
Andy, Is that your same alto from your days at U f M?
Lou, it is! Love that it's been here the whole time!
He is so good-looking.
Hey Andy, what tunes have you played on as a studio musician besides waiting for a "star to fall"---one of the greatest solos of all time.
Hello Andy, I'm a Juliano from Brazil, I really admire your work, I have a question, how do you get that growl sound at the beginning of the song, in medium pitch notes, this is very characteristic of your sound, is there a video where you explain it? Can you give any tips on this, it doesn't seem like a common growl to me, sorry if I said it wrong because here in Brazil we have other names for this effect.
Hi Juliano, so this is the Sanborn split note kind of thing. It works on certain pitches, certainly not all. It's achieved by opening your throat and changing the angle of the mouthpiece at the same time. Hard to teach without being in the same room, but that's what it's about 👍
A++++++++++
Found you through my Discover Weekly. Spotify always spilling out some bangers
You play so beautifully! Billy Joel doesn’t deserve to perform in the same band with you
😅
Brilliant Andy!! I use music as a metaphor for other practices and you've so nicely articulated the idea. Thanks!! 🙏😊
Great interview Andy! Loved the chat with Dave Koz 😊 and love his music... its so high-vibe✨.
Awesome show! Love the sax geek-out. 😁 and Andy you make such a great and personable host. Nicely done.
🙏
👏👏
Andy you actually looks like a younger BJ a bit...
I'm just now seeing this 2020 hang in Oct. 2023. You're a good egg, Andy Snitzer, for providing this wonderful treat to folks who were prevented from hearing live music due to the pandemic.
Wow! Really fun chat Andy & Steve.... and that was a heluva way to meet. Lmao Steve plays with a LOT of heart. Sounds gr8!
So glad I finally found this Podcast Andy. I so enjoyed the conversation and performance. Tastefully done. Phenomenal !! ☺
The best episode!! ❤️
Wow, these live interviews with so many great saxophone players are a real gold mine!
andy just saw the Algarve " Chicago Song " vid what awesome concert hope a complete vid comes out love it >>> were you using the Super Jet or the DV
DV on that trip! Had a great time playing with Ev, hopefully again soon!
@@andysnitzer1030 sounded absolutely great you and Ev have the Sanborn Feel definitely a fan pleasing A++++
What is the name this song ? Please.
I couldn’t tell you how many times back in the Berklee jam sessions. We’d play something like “Softly”, a Charlie Parker blues and David Sanborn “FIRE”!! Like Everytime!! Always the 3rd song!
So you all literally open the throat like a yawn 🥱. I’m definitely hearing that sound that you both emote, Full, balls to the wall, All In!!! Sometimes a person doesn’t know we can do something until he knows he can do it! I’m ready to really put it out there! Thanks much 🙏🏽
imho, the airstream should be exhaled, not blown. like without the horn in your mouth, you're exhaling, as if to make the sound "haw" while you do it. your lips aren't even in the equation, nothing is "blown", it's pure exhale, diaphragm driven. you've got this!
Wooow that's beautiful!!! Excuse me, what reed do you use?
The “Dirtiest rice and beans” tenor player EVER
Dude…you are the “Dirty Rice and Beans” of tenor players!!! BTW… you can use that as a title for a future tune : )
Love it!😊
I remember hearing this song as a child
So haunting! Beautiful melody but with a sense of longing.
