Oshkosh Concrete Mixer Walk Around and Basic Operation (How a Cement Truck Works)
How do you add superplacticiser to the mix? Manually or through some sort of a tank? Thanks.
Very tidy Oshkosh 'S' Series front discharge concrete mixer wagon, regarding the undercarriage ,the fourth axle you said is a tag, no ,the axle described is a' pusher' because it is mounted ahead of the drive axles. In UK we have lots of wagons fitted with lifting pusher axles, single drive artic(semi) tractors , bin wagons(garbage) trucks, and long wheelbase curtainsider wagons. The pto off the KittyCat C13 has a Doxford Bibby detuning wheel to dampen out vibration to protect the hydraulic pump. On standard off the peg wagon mixers in UK the hydraulic pump is driven via a cardan shaft off the engine flywheel.
Love the sound of the air operated transfer box hi-lo switch , really cool, Judging by the placard the transfer box is permanent all wheel drive, like a Range Rover with air operated diff locks on the rear bogie (tandem axles), transfer box. When loaded on the road drive only goes to the rear most axle ,6x2 mode, full 6x6 available off road, is that right ?.
Great vid. Thank you.
Going to get my cdl (🙏) Hopefully. And wasn’t to drive one of these. Thanks for this vid.
You explain more to me then my trainer did. He never mentioned how to add water to he drum. Most crucial part. Omg some trainers are holding information back like they want you to screw up. So thanks to you I needed this entire video. Keep it up your awesome
How do you know when to put the axle down and what pressure set it at
Wheres the loading video?
Fah that was cool bro from concrete truck driver in aotearoa new Zealand
Nice views. Subbed
To many nothing special said. These components are important
In Oklahoma my uncle did cement all his life doing dog truck driving for McAllen and I noticed that specially this year it’s our river truck wash back when I pack over the cab why? Thank you.
Hey I just wanted to thank you for posting these videos. 3 years ago I started watching these to get an understanding of my first CDL job and they helped a bunch!
Would you be able to get hired by a concrete mixer company straight out of cdl school?
I’m starting driving a front load truck Monday. What tips would anyone provide? I’ve never drove a concrete truck before. The employer tells me the worst part of the job is the contractors can be jerks.
It’s a little odd how the button to spin the drum is on the lever for the shoot. But anyway great video! I have an interview in a couple days. Very informative!
I see no advantage in having the watertank plumbed that way. Thats not factory.
You're right, it's not factory. It's easy to fill this way though. Superior to factory in my opinion.
What do these babies cost?
Too much
El Hot wheels más antiguo que tengo era este camión y después de casi 25 años descubri que era un camión real que genial!!! 👌🏻💯
Hey, I was told that when trying to come to a complete stop while unloaded its very hard to stop. Is that correct?
Correct . Engine brake helps a lot
I deliver heating oil now but have a interview next week for this. How long does it take to learn? looks like there is alot more to this than any other trucking job. Looks more difficult
Thank you sir for the walk through I was looking for a video exactly like this one 👌👍
Awesome
How do you climb in that small cab?
what's the model of the truck u operate
How do you train new drivers?? I operate a rear-discharge now, just got 24 years in last month!😊 Seems like in the south where I'm moving to, it's mostly front-discharge, so I'm trying to get as much info as I can! Your videos are INVALUABLE, and are easing my mind with the almost inevitable change! Thank you!!😊😊😊
Well, obviously the cabs are single seats. So training involves following the new guy in a pickup, or whatever company vehicle they use for it, and instructing the driver while on the fender at first and then along side the truck from the ground once he starts getting the hang of it. I've been doing the training now for our new drivers. First day with me is me operating the truck and having him sit on the fender and watch as I explain what I'm doing.
There are trainer front discharge trucks, they allow a second guy to ride shotgun. Not every company has them though as they're expensive to keep around.
I trained in a 2 man Oshkosh. It’s pretty old and they said the company stopped making them 🥲
Man y'all got it made we only get 150 gallons lol. Also I absolutely hate the hood lifter on Oshkosh trucks. Such a pain in the morning with no air pressure.
There are companies out there with 250 and 300 gallon tanks even!
Out where I am, another company wants to squeeze in another half yard , so they went with super singles instead of duallies, and went down to a 80 gallon tank!! We run 125 gallons.
Would like to see a complete washout ! I really enjoy your videos! Your trucks look top.notch as well. Mine wasn't. The slump meter didn't work and I was a rookie. I loved the work but just did not receive adequate training. The trucks were poorly maintained.
If I get the class B to find a job like this would I need this type of truck for road test??
No you should take your road test in a normal truck
I just left a mixer job. Not much training and I never did that sort of job. I watched alot of your videos and they were so helpful. I still watch them even now that I left the company!
Howdaya know how much water to add?
Roughly one second is one gallon
I drive a rear discharge mixer. Do you think driving a front dumper is more enjoyable or easier/harder? I’ve always wondered what it would be like. Does it get cramped in the small cab?
I've never driven a rear discharge concrete truck. What I can tell you though is that in a front discharge truck you as a driver are an very integral part of the pour.
In other words your doing more work driving that junk🤣I've driven both.
What’s up my concrete brother 💯👍🏿
Do you have 200 gl tank or 150?
I have 200 gallon tank
Washburn concrete here. Any chance you have footage of some pours we did this year?.......this shot on a gopro or a phone?
This past year I didn't run cameras very often, still have a lot of older footage to put together. When I have cameras running they're just knock off go-pro camera. There are four of them I have going at one time if it's a "film day"
I drove for 4 months. At first I hated it. Then I ended up loving it. Your videos, along with your tutorials, are top notch.
Great to hear!
Very well explained, Thanks
💯👍🏿👊🏾
Amazing vids driver,I also drive a mixer 5yrs in and still learning, you rock my brother keep’em going 💯👍🏿👊🏾
dudes a nothing special kinda guy lol, that is all special dude. 🤣
what are you driving i have a 2015 oshkosh

i love my front dump. 2015 oshkosh
What's the pay rate per hr?
@Banas Concrete Service What is benefit of this style truck versus conventional why you decided on them?
Is there more than one seat ?
Educational. Liked it and thanks.
I"ll be driving that same truck very soon. Is there any room behind the seat for a lunch box ? or bottles of water ?/
yeah there's just enough space for that. I usually keep my water bottle in the cubby space next to the seat
thanks and thanks for the engine hood lifting
A really big Concrete truck wow really big
so how the drum doesn't slip off the rollers when you pass sidehills?
It's own weight
@@banasconcreteservice5533 Then why drum rings on new mixer trucks have some safety cover? (Don't know it's proper name)
They're probably just there to keep peoples fingers from getting in there
That was super smooth, you make it look so easy. These type of footings always make me sweat because of the damn rebar everywhere and some clown yelling when I get too close. I’m around 4 months into my concrete journey, usually learning the hard way on a daily basis. How long did it take you to get a good feel for everything?
