    I just left a mixer job. Not much training and I never did that sort of job. I watched alot of your videos and they were so helpful. I still watch them even now that I left the company!

    all we have here in texas is rear dumpers, sometimes i think front dumpers would be better for us, but its nice to not have to worry about moving the cutes, the finishes can have it where they want it.

      They're nice in the sense that you can get more places offroad, and gives you control after what is happening with your chute making you just as much an operator as much as you are a driver. But with certain advantages in offroad capability also means when one gets stuck, IT'S STUCK.... They're heavier and have a lot more moving parts though as well.

    You would have to assume that the front discharge mixers are more expensive than the conventional rear discharge. Do you have any idea how much more they cost? I know the conventional trucks weigh in at around ~13+ tons, empty. Do the rear discharge mixers weigh much more?
    Here in S. FL we build practically everything out of concrete bcz of the need to withstand strong winds, but only one ready-mix company (Maschmeyer) uses the front discharge mixers. Kinda makes you wonder if the ready-mix companies and the pump companies are in cahoots 🤨

      A new front discharge truck will run around 250k-300k depending on options, like number of extra tag/pusher axles and such. They're more expensive to maintain over time due to all the extra moving parts and controls. But you can do a lot with them and with a good driver can make the lives of the guys on the ground a lot easier. Empty it's supposed to weigh 32k, with a full load it's supposed to weigh in a 76k in a front discharge truck. Now I say "supposed to weigh" because any buildup on the outside or inside of it will all add up.

    How much does a fully loaded concrete truck usually weigh? And how tall are they usually?

    • @banasconcreteservice5533
      @banasconcreteservice5533  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      with 11 yards on, usually a full load, it's supposed to weigh 76k. One yard of concrete weighs around 4k, empty it's supposed to weigh 32k.

    Do you guys slow down a lot in the winter? How many hours do you usually get in winter months?

    • @banasconcreteservice5533
      @banasconcreteservice5533  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it slows down in the winter. You can see it start to happen in November and December and after the holidays it slows down to not much at all until April or so. Depends, a lot of guys in this industry get laid off for the off season. In my experience I'll see around 35 hours in the winter, give or take some.
