Nice video
Thanks!
Cool you guys rode very near my house. Looked like you were dealing with the time they were resurfacing the trail.
Just think it'll be done by Easter, lol
So many videos on TH-cam have people burning a stump from the top down. You guys have the right idea burning from below ground level.
Nice video. Any idea why Menards was so much cheaper, and did you all end up going with Menards?
I’m assuming the company that did the very expensive quote had their numbers off. I’m guessing it should have been closer to Menards price. We decided to kind of pick and choose where we got different things from to get the best price. Hardly any materials came from Menards, and nothing came from the business with the expensive quote.
It was really cool to cut through 40-50 feet of my basement slab and literally see each joint with a crack right under it. A few missed the mark but most were perfect.
That's not an expansion joint, it's a control joint. It's meant to be a termination point for any cracks that might occur and prevent them from propagating throughout your slab.
Whoops! You’re right, I used the wrong word. Thanks for catching that!
But wouldn't filling the joint defeat the purpose of the joint? Or is there a special epoxy used that moves and prevents cracks?
@@adammonahan687cracking occurs during the curing process. Once cured it should not continue to crack or move.
@bassman5066 cracking most definitely also occurs after it's cured. Most common is during curing sure but it also can crack afterwards from a wide variety of reasons.
This is special epoxy. It is hard enough to grind, but is softer than the concrete, so it still allows movement.
Waist of money!! Is made of wood, framed by the lowest bidder!
Haha, we framed it ourself! Soo, yep, lowest bidder. 🤣 Also, almost all houses in the United States are built this way.
The insect is a silver fish
Good to know!
Which state and can you add date precisions?
Date prévisions in video description
We’re in Indiana.
Eventaully we will all be gone and that home wil belong to someone in the future that will never understand how hard it was for you to build it from scratch
So true, I think about this a lot. Especially when I’m in very complex commercial buildings. People have put in a lot of work!
oh my goodness that’s a lot but the value of your home will probably be much higher than you actually spent on it
That’s the hope! Although we don’t plan to move for quite a while, so we’ll have to wait and see.
I get it... I am broke. 🫱🏻🫲🏽😃
😭🤣
It takes us 9 to 12 hrs to install a full system, and that's IF you have all the right parts, training, tools.
Love this❤
I'm planning on doing this river this month and was looking for a video in advance, thanks! I did want to point out that you should never leash a paddleboard on a river without a quick release. It's super dangerous, especially if you get caught on a strainer. Cheers.
Glad to help! I hadn’t considered the dangers of the leash, but that makes sense. (I just didn’t want to loose my board down the river.)
Thanks for choosing my music! ❤🌷
You’re welcome!
Thanks!
Of course!
Batter boards nails and string, diagonals water level.... sometimes US old guys forget the younger generation wasn't taught the old ways!
Best of luck 😂
What size AC unit do I need to cool and heat a house that's a 1128 sqft! Ranch
Roughly one ton per 400 sqft. So a 2.5 to 3 ton system
Im not an HVAC tech but i play one on TV
If you’re in the south I’d go with a 3 ton, but if in Midwest or north a 2 or 2.5 would be fine.
You should consider the age of the house. Older homes have more air information than newer homes. This means the math is different for each.
@@HunterC99 😅 I got the right one. Just in time
So fun!! 🤩
Really smart to use board and batten! My metal side is a bear being 36in wide.
You've finished your roof, but i found somebody online put tape on their seamers to prevent scratches. Worked decently!
Just found your channel. Gonna bing, great videos so far! I have a Stair video, i didn't get it perfectly the first time either. Board's warped different directions so whenever i used one as a template, the marks came out different.
I love your stories!!! Yay!!
Thanks! 😊
Good job!! You guys work so well together!. Save those extra pieces of siding..... You may need them someday. 🙂
Thanks! We plan on saving them, probably to use for a shed.
too much talking not enough working
😂 true, this video is a lot of talking. Although this video covers about 240 man hours of labor. So we definitely did our fair share of actual work it’s just not on camera.
Good work looks fantastic. I love the contrast at the entryway
Thank you so much!
Made that looked so easy I wanted to do it. Then woke up and realized I’m an idiot and should just hire a professional such as urself. Great work👍
What a joke of a video. Only one percent of people can actually do this. Why give hope to the 99 percent who can’t. I have to buy all the tools and supplies for one job, I can see paying thousands of dollars if I do this for a living
Worst part is the refrigerant
Around the 0:33 mark did she say "drains are brazed"? I've never heard the copper lines called "drains".
I said “joints” although it does kinda sound like “drains” 😂
@@themastsyou made your own version of the Laurel/Yanni test 🤣🤣
😂
She clearly said lollipop so idk what you think you heard
I thought she “lines”
Would be nice if they just made this stuff with modular components and without the need for soldering etc.
I would love watching home owners trying to install their own hvac 😂
Shits mad easy
if that's what does it for you 😂
Installed my mini split in 2010. Bought it from Canadian tire for $999.99. It's been working flawlessly. Came pre-charged with 410A. I just cracked it for 10 seconds to purge. What you don't see is the DYI installs that do actually work.
Not everyone is as smooth brained as you may think. You may want to check your ego. I've been various levels of poor all my life. I'm very knowledgeable and capable.
Homeowners can’t even install a thermostat, imagine a full on horizontal in the attic 😂
Micro Chanel will leak 😢 !!!
They all leak at some point 😂
P traps on the positive side of the fan ?
Doesn’t hurt anything? Obviously not needed. But…. Did you not have anything else to be crucial of or??
What’s wrong with ptrap on other side?
Wet metal roof and any kind of shoe doesn't work. I almost fell off a wet metal roof and i was wearing leather work boots. Only thing that saved me was a pipe coming out of the roof
Oh no! Glad it caught you! I promptly got off the roof after I realized it was sketchy.
Just, please don't wear crocs. They make a beautiful woman not so beautiful...
😂 I don’t make a habit of wearing them in public, they’re my painting/boating/gardening shoes.
VERY GOOD Video!!!!! Thank You I have a 02C200V in need of this on all three doors.
I’m glad it helped!!
Crocs don’t mix with life wym?
I like my Crocs, haha! (Just not on a wet metal roof.)
Who makes guardian? And how are they? I do mostly residential service work and I’ve done a lot of caps, contactors, indoor coils compressors, etc for trane last year alone. All under warranty. They are garbage now
Guardian is made by Johnson Controls. They are a budget option with features just below what York offers. I have had very few issues with them.
It's a York
Okay first not as easy as it looks or even how this was filmed! also there are a ton of variables such as gas heat or heat pump and the wiring of it correctly this DIY PROJECT is not for the faint of heart you needs some skills! SECOND you need to pulla permit under a contractor license if the is a fire your insurance company won’t pay THIRDLY you need to buy about 2500 worth of equipment to install the unit correctly and lastly she don’t show the nitrogen process to solder with silver solder or proper balancing of the inside and outside units ! think about that before you commit
Way more than 2500 worth of equipment just in one shot 🫣
It does take a lot of equipment and experience to get into this business. It was difficult to show every step of this day long project in a one minute video.
It's a TH-cam short bro. It's not a how to video.
@@themastsso you admit that it's not some simple or cheap DIY. For someone with zero tools/equipment, you're gonna spend more than half of what you could have paid a pro to do it.
What happened to the little YORK😂
The compressor locked up, and the unit was 23 years old, so instead of switching out the compressor we changed out the unit.
@@themasts that looks like one of the YORK Stellar units from the 90’s. Might have had a Bristol recip .. they were high end in their day
@@stephenjenner484I’m sure it was! Unfortunately this one hit its limit.
The entire ductwork should've been redone
The customer didn’t want them redone. With a good cleaning they’ll do the job, they just won’t be super pretty.
Most ductwork is poorly installed and usually customers won't pay to fix it.
That's not included in the job
How much would that cost? Our ducts are in the foundation and have gotten filthy and rusty after water leaks flooded them. We'd like to just move them into the attic. The rooms mostly surround the attic in a ring except for the master bathroom.
She talking like she did any of it lol
Haha, I did! 🤣 It’s not my full time job, (I’m a teacher) but I hooked up the electrical and adjusted the ductwork to fit the new unit. I try to be as helpful as possible! 😊 Also Aaron isn’t a fan of doing voiceovers, and doesn’t get videos of me working. 🤷🏼♀️
@@themasts The video was great 👍
“recovered” haha yeah ok not with that smirk and a thumbs up.
🤣, it really was. I just forgot to film it. 🤦🏼♀️
@@themasts🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐

We pump them down into the condenser, and recover at the shop. Sometimes of course you can't because of hermetic failure. Saves us time overall and techs on calls
Not going to lie, the hardest part about DIY installs is getting started. Once you commit and start tearing stuff apart it sorta hits you that it's not overly difficult in some cases. Woodworking and tile can be a pain in the ass though since stuff has to fit and line up
Please reply back when you replace you hvac units and let us know how much money you spent when you had to call an actual hvac guy to fix your mess up
@StangxX who cares? If it has to be replaced what can come of trying my hand at it if I have the inclination. There is everything to gain and nothing to lose
DIY is not the best way to go, it will end up costing you more than just getting a professional to do it, the tools need alone even at the worse levels are 3K
Buddy buddy buddy... It can definitely cause you to "Lose". Lose lots and lots of money. If you have plenty, then sure, give it a go! @@commandertaco1762
Nice install!
Thanks!
The Case Coil looked re-used?
The customer didn’t want the heater to be replaced, so only the AC equipment is new.
@themasts Nice. I live in South Florida and don't get to see a lot of furnaces
That cased coil is definitely used. They don’t even understand what we are talking about lol
@hvacguy11 I could tell but I don't have the time to waste proving the point that it was
@hvacguy11 @J-O-H-N I realized I misunderstood the question when someone on Instagram asked the same thing and explained what they were seeing. This brand of coil comes with a copper plug on the stub out it has to be taken off using heat. So it is new, just looks used because of that. 😊
