Can You Plant Grocery Store Potatoes?
Thank you! Love your recipes! Merry Christmas!
You're very welcome! Merry Christmas to you, too!
For the Christmas wreaths I'd use rice krispie cereal but use what ever u have on hand.
That's a great idea! Rice Krispies would give them a nice crunch.
I can’t thank you enough for these wonderful recipes. My grandchildren would love to make them with me. You’re so kind to upload these recipes … ignore the trolls You’re doing a wonderful job and helping so many people get by on these holidays. With your fun recipes merry Christmas.
Thank you, you are very kind. I'm so happy to hear that you and your grandchildren would enjoy these recipes! Merry Christmas!
There are 2 things you can do so your parchment paper doesn't move. Either crumple it up or dab some water on the back of the parchment paper. That way it will stick and make it a lot easier. Hope this tip helps you . Merry Christmas, everyone . ❄️🎅🤶🎄🎁❄️
Oh, what a great tip! I am definitely trying the water tip next time. Thanks! And Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas 🎄.
Merry Christmas to you, too!
I have never had any of these, and will make some with the grandchildren as they love to be involved. The boys do not have the patience to wait for cookies to bake, so these are perfect. I wish you a blessed Christmas.
They’re a big hit with the kids, especially when they can help make them. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Looking forward to your videos in 2025 ❤😊
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you, too!
Oh my goodness, the junk. I don't even have such things in the house and would never buy them.
Sorry, How unkind!
Why are you watching this Karen!
Yes it’s frustrating when a recipe calls for the vanilla wafers and they don’t seem to exist anymore in Ontario. I can’t make my cookies too soon so they are fresh, I will be baking this weekend. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I enjoy watching your you tube videos, thank you.
It’s such a shame those wafers have become so hard to find. I have the same problem with the chocolate ones. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family, too!
Now I am hungry. Will give them a try. Thank you and Merry Christmas. 🤗
You're welcome! Merry Christmas!
Can you use 1c sugar
I understand wanting to limit sugar in recipes! I think you could try dropping it to 1 1/2 first to see if the consistency is right. The trouble with altering recipes is you're never quite sure how it will affect the thickness or texture. Let me know if they still taste good!
* sorry typo meant digging
Your kitchen looks great very smart how you filled that corner. Look quite natural. Got to try these cookies! Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thanks! It's functional but man o man I can't wait for my new kitchen! Merry Christmas to you and. yours, too!
The coconut version of these is superior to the peanut butter. Add almond slivers for even more goodness.
They are a family favourite! I've never tried almond slivers but I will. Thanks!
I find that a really strange idea and would be very perplexed to get that as a present. How about baking cookies and gift them to your loved ones? Best wishes, WH
It's a very popular gift around here! As it's all dry goods, it keeps for quite a long time and is meant for a time when she's busy and wants to make a quick and easy treat. :)
A fun time of year 🤶🕯️☃️❄️🎄🎅
It is! It's also a lot of work and I chronically feel like I'm behind. Gah!
I know what you mean. I made my list. Checking some of it off today. Gingerbread men ☑️, cranberry sauce ☑️
Oh, yes, my gingerbread...haven't done that either. LOL
You have shown me things I didn’t know existed! Freeze dried items would be excellent for camping or a prepper pantry and also to have on hand in times of snowstorms, hurricanes, etc. Such a great idea, and so thoughtful for you to do this for your daughter.
Yes, freeze dried butter and peanut butter would be ideal for camping!
Nice idea. I hope she enjoys them.
Thanks! I'm sure she will. :)
Great ideas! May I suggest using ornament hooks or some type of bendable wire to make attaching them to the tree limbs much faster and easier. Although the snow is beautiful my hands were getting cold while watching you tie those ribbons on 😂.
Yes, I had take my gloves off and they were getting pretty cold! I'll try that next time. :)
That is beautiful
Thank you!
Great craft ideas you can do with kids to assist our feathered neighbors for the winter. ♥🐦
Certainly! Kids love feeling like they can do something to help animals. :)
I can tell you love your country life! My neighbour opened my eyes to the many types of birds, and I love watching them. I also live in southern Ontario and am amazed how the little birds manage in our winter.
I do! I love seeing how they manage, too. The big cedar tree in front of our house has so many winter birds flying in and out that we call it the "condo".
Thanks Natalie, we just have a corn cob hanger and a Niger feeder but they're boring compared to your cute ideas. I have lard, just need to buy some mixed seed today. We have lots of snow here on the 6th Concession too. Have a merry day!
I just couldn't help decorating a Christmas tree for the birds! We usually have a breeding pair of cardinals that live in the cedar tree right outside our living room window. I hope the birds get the treats and not the squirrels!!
Oh I love your music.❤😊
Thank you!
Oh my goodness it's cold to the bone here in Texas. But Thank FATHER GOD No Snow. 😊❤
We were pretty lucky with the weather up until yesterday! But I have to admit, it feels more like Christmas is coming. :)
Pine cone and peanut butter great idea. Will give it a try tomorrow
I hope your feathered friends enjoy it. It's so easy!
We also got a couple of inches of snow in Quebec. I make sure the bird feeders are full
We had nothing up until yesterday. I guess Mother Nature is making up for lost time!
Your video is awesome ❤ I love the simplicity and goodness of your recipe and time saver for sure!!!! I only have to dirty the counter once, and I'm done. Thank you so much for helping me out in the kitchen and for the holidays ☃️🎅🎄🙏
My pleasure! This recipe has saved me so much time and stress when I need a quick pie for dessert. :)
You've inspired me. I have a wooden latern that would work. Thanks so much.
You are so welcome! I’m glad I could inspire you to use something you already have on hand.
What a creative idea. I’m definitely going to try this. Happy Holidays
Thank you! You too!
Very nice Natalie. I'm going to do your door decoration. Awoke to snow on the ground this morning on the 6th concession but known as the 1st Line. We recently came back from a holiday in Viginia beach, warm sunshine, beautiful, 4th time there. We love having our morning coffee while watching the dolphins swim by. Going to chop our Christmas tree with family on Sunday Dec 1st. It's a forever tradition and great fun with the kids and now grandkids throwing snow balls. Sometimes there's snow and sometimes not but always a good time. After such a rainy year, the tree will be well watered and will still be holding it's needles when we take it down Jan 2. Thanks for the ideas. PS: what do you do with all your eggs?
Yes, we had snow her on the 8th Concession, too. It's mostly gone now, but a good reminder to get everything done outside that needs to get done. Nice to get a break with some warm weather and sunshine. :) We'll get our tree early December, too. It has turned into a family event even though they all have artificial trees. I think it has more to do with me making spring rolls (about 200) for everyone. LOL We have pretty good luck keeping our trees fresh until after New Years as well. As for our eggs, we eat a lot of them but then sell the excess to friends and family.
WOW, spring rolls. We need a video. I've never made them but love getting them with a Chinese takeout. Three of my 4 kids go for real trees. The one son went with what his wife wanted. Who can argue with that! I don't have chickens right now but we just had 10 and sometimes I had quite a few eggs in my fridge. Tried selling at the road but not much interest surprisingly for pretty much free range chickens. They always found homes 😊.
For $11 i got an amazing seed starting tray. Thay are thick and the bottoms have a silicone bottoppm to easily pop out. Comes with a tray to cover until grown then use as the bottom watering tray!!!
I love the idea of an easier way to get the started seedling out. Trying to pull them out from the top often squishes them and disturbed the roots. I'll have to check this out. Thanks! :)
Our seniors need to be doing the stackable flower pots. Im wondering if you ran a rope up to the top where a container of water is and the ropes are in the water. Does that make sense?
I have wanted to try this myself!
So darn cute! What a good idea. I have some IKEA lanterns, hmmmmmm!
It was nice to finally put mine to use...they'd been gathering dust for years. And the best part is, with hot glue, if I change my mind, I can easily peel it off again and make it back into a simple lantern. :)
The kids and adults will love those. Cute idea.
Thanks! Even my grown kids noticed and liked them!
Except for the baking powder, this is the recipe my mom has used for 60+ years.
A tried and true recipe, for sure!
Nicely done! Fellow southern Ontarian here, you did a very nice job describing our holidays and Remembrance Day. Your diys were simple and very effective.
Thank you! I'm finding it hard to feel "Christmas-y" yet with our temps so warm but it helps to see some greenery and bows. :)
Great ideas. Beautifu!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very pretty Natalie 😊❤
Thank you! It was nice to use things around the property. Mother Nature knows best!
Nice job, Natalie!
Thank you! I'm trying to get in the Christmas spirit, but our weather is so unseasonably warm right now, that it feels more like spring than winter!
Hi Nathali, I put my lights after remembrance day.and to avoid the cold snaps and freezing cold. My husband dont do any decorations so I do my best to put up my lights ahead of time after 11:11. But we also cut a fresh tree so our tree is gonna be a little later too.i do make also my own winter pots like yours to cut down coz.😅yours looks gorgeous.
Thank you! And Craig likes to put his lights up when it's still warm out, too, and then we wait to turn them on. But this year, he's been so busy that they're still not up!
Love your decorating ideas! Simple, pure, and so in tune with the true meaning of the season.
Thank you so much!
Can you roll into thicker disc then freeze??
Absolutely! I might do one or two that way to roll out for hand pies or lattice.
Can you omit the sugar if you want to make savoury pies?
I've never tried the recipe without the brown sugar. There is such a small amount spread over 8 pie shells, that I don't think it makes it sweet. I've used the shell for savoury pies such as pot pies and like the flavour. If you try it, let me know how it tastes!
Greetings from Newmarket ON! I’m so glad I found you! I have been considering starting a vegetable garden in the spring. I’ve subscribed and will be following along 😊
Hello Newmarket! I hope you take the plunge and start your vegetable garden this spring. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. :D
Thank you for sharing 👏that is a lot of money savings Now a days
It's true that these days, you can save even more with a garden!
Fantastic video. Thanks for breaking it all down. I am in zone 5a, southeast Ontario. I have a postage stamp yard and manage to produce a lot of food. I have 2 8x4 raised beds and lots of containers. I originally found you when I was searching for loofah gardeners in Canada. I grew them for the first time this year and harvested 9. I am very happy with that as they're not easy to grow in our shorter growing season. Next year I'll start the seeds early and make adjustments later in the season to support the strongest loofah. I really appreciate and enjoy your videos.
Oh, thank you! And although I have lots of land, my garden footprint isn't that large either. But it's amazing how much you can grow even in a small space. I'm so glad you had some success with your loofahs! I love how many ways I can use them, especially certain pots where I don't want to scratch the surface with steel wool. I'm going to start mine a little earlier next year, too!
Thanks for breaking it down Natalie. We practically lived off vegetables all summer just to keep up. We're still enjoying fresh vegetables from the garden. The only thing I pickled was green tomato relish to keep ahead of the late summer blight. It's very good. It alone saved me about $80. Next year I might pay more attention and keep track for fun. Already I am missing working in my Ontario garden. It's good for my well being. Enjoy winter while looking in the seed catalogue!
It's amazing how quickly the savings add up, isn't it? I agree that being in the garden is good us. I miss it too, but it's nice knowing the garlic are in and setting their roots and that my lettuce under the cloche will give us some fresh salad for supper tonight!
@Escapetothe8thConcession It's a good rain today for the garlic and daffodil bulbs. When did you plant the lettuce seeds? Like the sounds of fresh lettuce.
@@mysparky2011 I planted a few new tulips for next spring just a few days ago! I planted the lettuce seeds about 3 weeks ago. Our weather is warming up again next week, so I'll leave it a bit longer.
Thanks for doing this because I think of this so often.. I'm a senior who loves gardening but now do container gardening. Talking about lettuce , one store sold a head for $1.99 and another store same week for .99. so I bought at .99 refuse to buy higher. Some now I'm thoughts are to grow the more expensive veggies I use more often and freeze. I'm in Maryland eastern shore (7B) and farmers here are harvesting and selling at farm stores the cabbages broccoli sweet potatoes. , for me with the cost of soil and other nessarry items I buy from them and freeze. I personally grew and froze, leeks, onions, carrots, Japanese eggplant, and peppers. As a female senior, can't do as much but this year my neighbor saw me doing the containers and he planted 3 tomato and gave me some and he and his wife are very picky senior eaters and he accepted the onions from me so that was nice. So for you bravo on the savings , we all have to think about this and choose wisely what is in our best interested. Enjoyed your video.
Thank you! And I WISH we could find lettuce for .99 here! Everything has gotten so expensive. And how wonderful that you are container gardening! I've often thought that containers can really provide a lot of food and you are proof of that! I love how much you managed to grow and what nice neighbours you have. :)
