Gallery Chat with Karolína Juřicová
Karolína Juřicová, was born in 1992, originally from Zlín, has a profound background in the arts, having studied Theory and History of Fine Arts and Architecture at the Palacky University in Olomouc. She is particularly passionate about 20th and 21st-century architecture, which inspired her to organize a series of lectures and architectural walks.
Before joining DSC Gallery, Karolína worked as a curator of the architecture collection and in PR at the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín. This role allowed her to gain extensive curatorial experience, blending historical understanding with contemporary art perspectives.
For the past six years, Karolína has served as the main manager and young partner at DSC Gallery, where she oversees all gallery operations and curates significant exhibitions.
Her curatorial methods reflect a keen focus on innovation and storytelling. She carefully selects artists and works that challenge and engage the audience while aligning with contemporary societal themes. Her approach to curating is collaborative-working closely with artists to develop new projects and ensure their work resonates with both expert and general audiences.
Karolína’s curatorial practice is deeply rooted in her intuition. She draws inspiration from various forms of art, including cinematography, literature, philosophy, and music. Her travels and personal experiences also play a significant role in shaping her artistic vision.
She strives to create interesting associative chains that connect disparate ideas and themes, encouraging viewers to engage with art on multiple levels. This method allows her to craft exhibitions that resonate emotionally and intellectually, inviting the audience to explore their own interpretations. Karolína utilizes the theoretical insights of influential art theorists, such as Ernst Gombrich and others, to underpin her curatorial decisions.

The paintings of the author Laura Limbourg (*1996) enriches the Czech painting scene with exotic themes. However, their role is deliberately ambivalent, contradictory, provocative and sometimes even irritating. The picture here is often not what it seems at first glance.
