LINOCUT CARVING TOOLS: FLEXCUT TOOLS - A REVIEW
มุมมอง 9Kปีที่แล้ว
I've been using the Speedball carving tool for my linocuts for around 15 years....and no hate toward the Speedball tool. It's awesome. This video is not sponsored - I wanted to share my experience using these tools ...

    If you dont have a press, then get yourself a Japanese style barren. it will get you so much better results than just using a wooden spoon. it is a massive time saver and gives so much better printing results that its honestly mindblowing.

      I'd say around $150 should be enough to get you started. You could likely set yourself up with a tube of ink, a carving tool, a brayer (roller), a few pieces of lino and some paper! Can stretch your lino even further if you cut your pieces in half and start with smaller carvings!

My next assignment for print making seems very difficult to do with 30+ students and just one press in a tiny room, it just gets very chaotic and it impacts the quality of prints. I will be doing reduction prints on the Lasani wood plate. Will this work fine on a wood plate?

    Why use the extender?

    • @ehollingsheadart
      @ehollingsheadart 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ink out of the jar is very pigmented and thick! The extender can be mixed in at a 1:1 ratio to thin the ink. It not only doubles the amount of ink you have to work with, but the ink goes on thinner and dries faster since it isn't being applied to the carving as a thick, super tacky layer. Printmakers will play around with the amount of extender they put in their inks, as it can also be used to make inks less opaque, which can be useful and interesting when you start to do multi-layer or reduction carvings.
