Do you think you could do dungeon synth?
I think I could, this machine has all the capabilities to create a characteristically dungeon synth sound.
That was an amazing listen! Have you ever considered getting ahold of a QY100? I think you could craft something amazing on that.
As far as I know, there are small differences between 70 and 100, but they do not change the essence.
@igorecord Until recently, yes. Since the QY100 has a card slot on the side, pattern files can be uploaded onto it. I've coded a bunch of specialized files that can be loaded up on the QY100 to extend beyond the limitations of the device. So it's now possible to have up to 32 measures of workspace where the default only allowed 8 measures, also BPM can now go as low as 8 and as high as 1000 on the QY100 by booting these files. I'm still discovering more and plan to release all my findings. If you ever get ahold of a QY100 let me know and I'll share what I'm working on.
Great. For Creating music on road(travel)
This is dope!! Thanks for making this tutorial!
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
is this 3/4 or 12 bar loops or something ?
Here, as in all my tracks, the 8 bars are 4/4 in size, but I have chosen the arpeggio melody in such a way that it creates a feeling of polyrhythmy.
@@igorecord amazing thank you x)
Man the 80's vibe I get from your music made on the QY70 is amazing.
It's a device from the 90s, but a vibe from the 80s. 🙂
I have one of these, but no clue how to use it.. HA. Any tips?
You can read my manual, I'll show you how I'm working on it. th-cam.com/video/XcUNfE4oU9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i37WS872OpCbgLdI
great
Thanks! 🤜
it sounds awesome, I'm shocked. Really cool machine and even cooler programming skills !!
Thanks!🙏
check it out i kinda think this sounds more like "italo disco" than "synthrave" ok
I Googled Italian disco music, but I didn't find a similar sound as in this track.

I would love to know how to use this device as well as you !
Take it in your hands and sit back comfortably 😉
Fantastic mate :) 😊
Many thanks!☺
Cool! 👍🏻
Thanks ☺
Maybe (definitely) it was already asked, but do you post process (or maybe even master separately) your jams before uploading to the YT? I'm hard to believe that, for example, that kick slaps so hard on what seems like a very limited (but very cool nontherles) device. Awesome track as usual though 👏
@@danithecake While working on the track, I try to ensure that the sounds do not have the characteristic yamaha coloring. When recording, I use a compressor from boss 303.
Impressive! I've had mine for almost a year and can still only come up with music that sounds like a DOS RPG lol
Thanks! It took about 8 years before I discovered the diamond in it 😁

I want this one. Great video and music! Keep up!
Thanks! Buy it, it's a good investment😁
Now that's rave
to be honest, this is my first experience in this genre.
impressive work! it gets better every time! love the filter movement in the background, you know this machine in and out!!!
Thanks man! 👊
Awesome, ❤
Thanks 🤗
is this thing hard to learn?
The mix is very simple and predictable, nothing complicated. Only eight tracks, you won't get confused. It's hard to find bang sounds, but I manage to do it from time to time. ;-)
You need to be creative and a nerd (not in a offensive way) to work the machine in order to pull out magic the way he does in this video... in other words, he is talented, what seems simpel for him, most people give up within 5 minutes playing around with this device... anyway, its very complex... my passion is music, but I lack all the skill to read a note of music, understand the dynamics of a keyboard. To add electronica devices in the mix make's me to utterly understand how limited my hope's are to ever create the sounds he just pulled out of his sleeve, all this whilst saying it is simple... it don't envy him, neither do i hate him for his skills, I just like to listen to people who create awesome sounds the way he did... anyways, life is awesome, ❤

its a sign your getting old when you forget things or jabbed if your in your 20s or below
I had to QY 20. I loved that thing.
I also love QY70! ;-)
Hello and thank you very much for this impressive video ;) i have a question. Is it possible to record automation of the cutoff for example? Big thanks forward
Thanks! Yes it possible. th-cam.com/video/XcUNfE4oU9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EuIBuoSHn7tEK1bU
Dude! So glad I found your channel. Are you able to transfer files from QY70 to PC and vice versa? I've tried everything from installing and reinstalling the Yamaha data filer, to changing OS, to changing PC, to trying serial to USB cables, etc. Have you had any luck saving data onto your PC and transferring them back again? Any help would be so appreciated as I've been at this for nearly 10 years and have had no success.

Try some black Nitrile gloves. I think a darker contrasting color would be more visually appealing. Keep trusting your musical instincts.
Thanks! Great idea, I can advertise gloves! 😂
Nah!! Those are disgusting! :(
are there any reasons to choose the qy70 over the qy100?
I came to the conclusion that qy70 for electronic music, qy100 for rock, although I had no experience playing at qy100. The Yamaha 70 is smaller and has a better layout of the screen and navigation buttons. The Yamaha 100 has a guitar input, but I have never seen anyone use it. The Yamaha 100 has a smart card slot, but it is very slow and rare. I save my projects on my smartphone.
@@igorecord thanks mate. might grab me a qy70 at some point.
Lovely jam, I really dig the short and quick bass arps in between.
Thanks! I am pleased that you appreciate the details. 🙂
that was really cool thank you! so wait.. was that live? if so how many times did you do it? also love the visual aesthetic.
Thanks! I recorded this video from the first take. I think about track structure before recording, practice with qy, then press REC. For recording I need 2-3 takes usually. :-)
I can't believe I didn't comment on this one yet. Sick track! Your arrangements are so good, man!
Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback!
Cool! I dunno why Yamaha haven't rebooted their QY range, it was seriously epic. Back in the day I had the QY22 and a QY700, and the 700 was the best hardware sequencer I've ever used.
Thanks! Maybe Yamaha will see my videos and think about rebooting QY!
way better than expected
Thank you! Watch more with this amazing device! ;-)
Sounds great! An orange oil wipe will clean up your front panel really nicely. The patina is fun too though.
thank you! but it's not dirt, it's worn paint, plastic of natural color is visible on the corners of the device
synthwave artist recs??
I'm not performing, and I don't have any published recordings, if I understood your question correctly.
This algorithm I swear, one day I’m going to see a FJAAK video and they’ll be playing QY-70s…
Thank you! Rate other videos too)
Ugh having a hard time picking between the qy70 and qy100 to be the 70 sounds better if its cus people have certain speakers or what.
I am also wondering which one sounds better, but I only have the QY70. But if we compare the appearance, I like the QY70 more because it is smaller than the QY100, and the screen is in the middle of the device. And the navigation buttons are more conveniently located on the QY70.
Lovely=
Thanks! Check out the other videos! ;-)
One thing I learned is that - its the person behind the device that makes the music sound good. No more GAS for me!
Thank you! I found my favorite sound in this device! :-)
wow that sounds HUGE
Thank you🙏 🙂
Thinking bout getting one 🤔
A sound studio in your pocket, it's a good purchase ;-)
Really nice, mate! I've started making synthwave on my QY100. I was gonna just use it as a sequencer but it's fun to see how far I can push it. Incredible devices!
Thank you! Show your creativity.😉
@@igorecord Hehe I will when I complete something! Currently working on Time Cop 1983 cover just to get my head around it.
Well done and nice tune!
Thanks! 🙂
I left another video of yours (drum n bass), playing and this started auto-playing. I wasn't sure if I was playing Com Truise from my playlist or not.
Thank you, I'll take it as a compliment.❤
When I try to restore some saved patches, I get "Checksum error" or "Midi buffer full" errors (sometimes both). Doesn't happen on all patches and I also noticed sometimes the dump in Syx-lib is different byte sizes for the same pattern. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I tried different delay/buffer size but that didn't help. I think my dumps are getting corrupted somehow but i don't know how to fix.
do you have a Midi cable m-audio like mine?
@@igorecord no i have a similar cable by DoReMidi (most common one fron ebay). It works fine for external control with keyboard and webmidi apps. Is there a setting under "Utility>MIDI" that I need to change for dumping data?
I had a similar problem with some old projects that I saved using the qu data filer. But when I found out about the way to save to my smartphone, I save and upload all new projects without any problems. Have you tried to make and save a new project on your smartphone?
@@igorecord I'm thinking that the cable might be the problem. The semi-random file sizes dumping from the same pattern seems to indicate possible transmission problem. I'm ordering one like yours to test with. Hopefully that fixes. I'm also going to test with 'amidi' in linux and see if I can get a clean dump on my linux workstation. As soon as I know more I'll post an update in case others run into this issue.
@@illiterate467 One smart person told me that M- audio usb-midi cable is the best for transmitting data to Yamaha QY. I hope you succeed.
