The big C, fertility and Hope
THIS IS A SPECIAL CONVERSATION
Emily is one of life’s unsung heroes. She is a coach (and quite frankly, one of the best out there!), a mum, a wife, an entrepreneur and an author.
On the surface, it all seems perfect. What many people don’t know is that shortly after getting married, she found out she had bowel cancer. Following that, she went on a difficult and traumatic fertility rollercoaster. She talks to Zarrin about her journey. It’s moving, devastating, inspiring and hopeful. I guarantee you that if you stay to the end, you will be equally moved.
Here is something Emily wrote in 2018:
“Life is just one big way of learning isn’t it. It’s managing in the big and small moments. It’s finding peace even where it shouldn’t be. It’s being as truthful to ourselves and others as we can be. It’s finding strength when we crumble. It’s gaining a voice when we’re muted. It’s directing things so we feel a sense of control. It’s failing and succeeding in the least obvious ways.” Emily Hodge September 2018

Thank you so much to open up my thinking about insomnia I been struggling for years and I tried about absolutely everything there is on the market , sleep routine, herbal supplements, meditation, mouth taping, but my body doesn’t need to sleep eight hours if I get 4 to 6 and average night I am happy and I don’t feel like I’m tired or deprived of sleep. So I think that is eight hours a night. It’s a not realistic at all. Thank you

A brilliant video which I believe should be shown on TV on a Prime time slot. I am sure i had Sleep Apnoea for many years ( possibly 43 all my married life as my wife would make comments about me snoring and gasping for air) ,however as it am not overweight it was missed and when finally I pushed a new doctor after waking up in the night with high blood pressure, had the test and was discovered to be having 68 episodes an hour and my heart consultant believes was the root of my Atrial Fibrillation, two ablations later 3 years on CPAP I feel a whole lot better. I do sincerely believe it is a totally underestimated potential killer disorder. I did a video for the forum Sleep Matters when asked so I feel very strongly about helping others.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We're so pleased that you got your sleep apnoea diagnosed and treated and that you also feel better. We agree that it's underestimated which is why we made the video to raise awareness. It sounds like you're doing a wonderful job of raising awareness too! We wish you the very best.

A very interesting video, thank you. I’ve recently been diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and have been reading about the link between that and sleep apnoea. I suspect OSA is something I have and so will be investigating further before going down the ablation route!

Excellent video! I had to be my own advocate just to get diagnosed with my hypermobile type Ehlers Danlos syndrome. I also advocated to try the new EDS medication option Pyridostigmine to treat my gastroparesis and POTS, and that medication has been a miracle for me.
