Mixing of particles in V-blender
The video shows the DEM simulation of a V-blender wherein small and large particles are being mixed during rotation of the blender. Simulation was performed using open-source code, PhasicFlow, which can be found on github. It is a parallel code that can be run on CPU or GPU.

Particle Tracing for Residence Time Distribution (RTD) in a Stirred Tank Reactor

A pulse injection (1 second) of 10000 inert particle tracers is injected into the reactor from top inlet and the concentration of particles at the outlet is measured to obtain RTD. The drum rotates 12 rpm and its radius is 0.25 m. The results are obtained based on the discrete element method (DEM) simulations.       It was a year ago. If I correcrly remember, it was OF-v7 and the solver was reactingFoam. You can do the same with of-v1912 or later.

    Hi Hamid, thanks for uploading the video. Quite useful to understand parcel tracing in openFoam. Can you further elaborate the method in detail to measure RTD from the generated data ? Or If you have you uploaded this procedure anywhere, please share the link.

    Hello Dr. Hamid, how to make Paraview represent non-sperical particles (eg. superquadric particles) ? I made a model using LIGGGHTS software with superquadric particles but Paraview is representing them as spherical !
