Drag your chipbrush over course sandpaper to get the loose hairs to release.
oooo winter waters!!! love <3
Mont Sainte-Victoire
My very first workshop was at Garrapata State Park in 2019 with Aaron. Best experience of my life. I was very overwhelmed by painting Plein air for the first time, and watching a true master embrace the fog that came and went. Those incredible 4 days created my addiction to Plein air painting and I am so thankful for that awesome experience. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this conversation, revisiting the amazing cliffs of the Pacific, and seeing the beauty of Aaron’s home state of Montana. If anyone gets the opportunity to join Aaron for a workshop, make it a priority and do it!
The atmosphere is right there I am just a beginner with pastels and so glad this is even possible with layering
Wonderful talk and so true! The experience of outdoor observation reveals color harmonies and truths that a “snapshot” could never possibly reveal.
Love his winter paintings and I’ve been painting the mountains here in Eastern Sierra’s for the last 30 years, especially in the winter outdoors. It’s invigorating as long as the roads are clear and the sun is out ..I’ve often taken off my jacket because it’s so warm.. I’m 75 now and I’m still out there painting!! I have not noticed the pink in the shadows of our Mount rose ski resort mt.❤🌞👍
Great interview. Joy, true joy, is indeed radical!
Wonderful paintings. Even better, delightful narrative
Great work. An artist Aaron might want to contact regarding painting water is Gary Oro. He gave a talk and demo here (Cape Cod). He sat at the ocean for hours on end just studying it, filming it. Thank you for sharing this with.
Thank you for making me laugh. I came to find The Get Ready Man and found you :)
Great interview! Brienne is also a fantastic instructor
I bet she is!!
B. uses Stillman and Birn sketchbooks Beta series
Loved this--I hope you will continue to show watercolorists--and bring Brienne back soon.
Stunning work I’m an oil painter so I really appreciated. The last painting ..field of lace. I would love to hear Brianne talk about the differences between oils and watercolors.
Beautiful work ❤ love her breakthroughs
Thank you for inviting a watercolorist ! It allow me to discover Brienne Brown ! wonderful ! (from a french plein air watercolorist)
Thanks for sharing!
When I was in grad school (Geology) I used to paint watercolor during trips to my Thesis area in Big Bend National Park.
Hi Charlie and Brienne from ireland.
I can see why you wanted to purchase Middle Branch Fog. Incredible painting.
Very interesting/fun to see/hear how other artists think and their process.
Another good one. Thanks Charlie. See you in Terlinqua.
Wow! Tim's a master! Wonderful works. ❤
great episode with 2 great guys!
Great episode! Tim is one of my favorite painters working today. An excellent interview with an intelligent and sensitive artist.
Tim is so good, and has so much we can all learn from.
Quite an interesting conversation Charlie of an artist I was just marginally familiar with.
Very talented young man...beautiful work.
Fun to see this interview..Artist from our local art school, group..yes a great asset for our art community.
....'through whose leaves, needlelike and destitute of oil glands as they were....' 😂
Hello from Baltimore !
these are like memories and dreams of a place.......love your work!
Happy christmas Charlie😊
Merry Christmas to you and Betty Soo, Charlie.
Great…. Just ordered a 6”
Just received… sweet piece !
I really enjoyed these three interviews. Thanks, gentlemen!
Appreciate your watching!
Interesting to be viewing this in Dec 2024 when denialism and revisionism have had almost 4 years to fade…. My past self would never have predicted a future in which not only are denialism and revisionism stronger than ever, but the country has again made the decision to re-anoint Trump as ‘leader’. The polarization of the country is beyond ordinary discourse about political differences. I cannot and will not attempt to find common ground with those who support Trump’s agenda (project 2025, isolationism, protectionism, mass tariffs, mass deportations etc) or who abdicated making a moral decision in favor of perceived economic benefits. I cannot only hope that our country recovers more quickly from this than it did the civil war - where it could be argued it took 100 years: blacks were given the right to vote in 1965.
Dark days ahead, I fear.
I've just watched all three of these talks with you and Buddy.O. I totally enjoyed them. There is so much to be gained from conversations about ones' life experiences. The thing I enjoy most when the Rattlesnake gang gets together in BBNP is the time we spend together sitting around in the evening sharing life experiences, stories, insights and songs. I look forward to having you with us in February, it's going to be great fun. BTW, I spent almost 10 years as a brakeman on the railroad back in the 80's. We may have a thing or two in common. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the three interviews with you and Buddy.
Fantastic! I totally get what you're saying. That's been the best part of many events. Looking forward to it.
I think Corduroy would like to be interviewed.
Corduroy would like licky treats and more lap time. That would really pretty much be the content, I believe.
I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 interviews including Corduroy’s contribution.
Hearing more about the sketching experience in Europe would be neat. I bet those sketchbooks are precious. I can't believe you still have them. Re the Prine concert poster, when you have a moment, could we see a close up? Very cool poster, thanks for showing it. Great talk. Looking forward to Part III.
Putney Painters at Legacy Gallery --- best memories ever!!!!
Those two readings were really nice. Thank you. ❤
This is an early Christmas gift. Pure joy. Cheers❤
A forensic analysis by Charlie Hunter.!
Just wanted to say, I'm a big roy lichtenstein fan. I watch everything I can find. Setting in front of a camera and sharing your life is a big deal. Don't stop. Thank you and draw on.
Always love hearing about your stories from years past, Charlie. Bring on Part III.
Love hearing your stories 😊👩🏻🎨
I used Williams art to guide me in understanding the handling of watercolors. I have his book and it’s well used. Thank you William🥂
Late to the party today (7 months late) and watching from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Any fan of Garnet and Stan is a friend of mine. Should you ever feel compelled to return, consider this an invite to do some plein air from my sailboat on the flooded South Saskatchewan River, a reservoir called Lake Diefenbaker. From the vantage at water level or on the hillsides, one easily forgets the vastness and flatness of the prairies just beyond the rim of the river valley. It is easy to sense the history of the prairies, long before there were any grain elevators to interrupt the view.
I really like Saskatoon. You may find me knocking on your door someday. Fun fact: I designed Garnet's SMALL VICTORIES cd cover.
@@CharlieHunterArt Nice. I have a bunch of Garnet's albums but not that one, although I know the song "Small Victory" very well. It is one of my favourites of Garnet's.
Gas stations!!! Barns... "she is going to be of no help whatsoever..." Looking forward to future Part II and Part III. Proud to have paintings by both Charlie and Kathie gracing my home!
