@@carlosmacias3470 it’s a mix. Some have tests and others have papers or tasks at the end.

@@micalaneThanks!!! I enrolled today. Do you have to enroll in all the courses you are trying to complete in 1 term or can you continue enrolling throughout the term if you finish classes before the term passes?

@@carlosmacias3470 You’ll enroll in them as you complete classes. You get the first three that you need to complete in the first term at the beginning. The others you’ll most likely get one at a time.

@@robr268 There is still quite a bit of writing. It’s very doable though.

MBA is better if you are only getting one and work in a corporate setting. As far as intensity, I would say MBA was easier because there is more information available about the program. It’s very popular.

I received two excellent awards for my capstone. The other one had to do with how I handled the finances. Basically, I played it safe and paid attention to the competitive advantage.

I did my MBA in 10 days. I think if you’ve worked for large engineering firms before, you probably have picked up on some of the business practices. This will make it slightly easier for you. You are able to get your MBA at WGU without having a bachelors in business.

The concepts were just really foreign to me. It wasn’t some thing I had ever studied before. I needed to know the terminology, the practices, and the formulas. I had never seen any of these things before. It may not be difficult for everyone, but it was for me simply because it was completely new.

@@micalane Got it. I think I will be in the same situation. I’m going through the MBA admission process at WGU. I’m a working professional as you and traditional MBA programs don’t work for me - I tried already.

@@ms3143 WGU was definitely a great fit for me. I wanted to be able to do school on my own schedule.

@@micalanequestion… for the MBA program, are most of the assignments written papers? Are there any graded proctored quizzes or tests ?

@@ms3143 50% are final papers or projects (PowerPoints). 50% are exams.

As you said, it’s definitely hard to say. Everyone is different. I think the degree is definitely doable if you know how to learn. That may sound like an easy concept to you but a lot of people don’t understand the way they learn. I would encourage anyone before starting any program at WGU where most of the material is self taught to explore their learning style and what works for them. Many of the classes in this program are also shared with the MBA program. The one class I struggled with was accounting. You don’t have to take finance. Only MBA students take that.

This one is a tough one. While I received a lot of excellence awards, I didn’t do anything expecting an excellence award, except for in one of the last classes I took in my masters of science and management and leadership. I’ll be sure to cover this in-depth at the next study hall, but just for right now, i’ll try to give you a few tips. I had a class I really enjoyed and worked very hard on the paper and therefore felt I deserved an excellent award. Number 1, always right to the rubric. Number 2, always review and edit your papers. I really recommend using a website or something to have your paper read back to you as a way of editing it because you may catch something you didn’t catch with your eyes. Number 3, I always wrote the way WGU suggested you write the paper in the course resources. If they had a video or something on the way, they wanted the paper written I made sure to do it that way.

The only thing I would say, order wise is to make sure you take accounting before finance. Some of the accounting stuff will show up in finance and it’s better to just have a good understanding of that one first before you move on.

I think that really depends on the field you’re going into. Some fields really respect masters degrees and some don’t. An MBA was needed to get to where I want to go. The MSML was more for me. I really enjoyed the Change Management and Innovation class. I just finished so if it will help me get a job or not is yet to be seen. Also, this market is really rough for my chosen field. I work in tech and with all of the tech layoffs, it’s difficult. I’ve only been looking for a month though so we will see how long it takes me.
