Ed Fernandez Restaurant Birrieria in San Diego has some amazing birria tacos just stateside of the California-Mexico border. The place is always packed (on weekends especially), and the staff is super friendly. The standard birria taco and the quesataco were my tasting menu items. But they have so many different variations of birria tacos, tostadas, quesadillas to choose from. Check out their extensive menu…muy autentico! The birria tacos here are definitely worth the trip to Chula Vista. Kudos to Jorge, the owner, for running such a fantastic restaurant! Ed Fernandez was his brother, and I’m sure he’s done him proud!

Something about tacos, you made a great point in the beginning. Try a taco by itself, would prefer with no onions/cilantro...that should be right on spot, the rest is extra

Yes @benjamingilmore825… but EVERY beef dish tastes better with the birria sauce… I wanted to see how good it was “naked” coming straight from the server. I think either the sauce, it would have been a 5 star…. Perhaps I need to go back to do that!

HomeState had recently partnered with Lincoln's BBQ to serve breakfast tacos using their famous BBQ Brisket. I belive they did it for only a one week in November.
They prob would have gotten 5 stars if that Brisket was there when we were. Still, worth checking out!
With the Cholua sitting right there it would be perfect!
