Gotta thank Conan and others that let Norm do his thing. I believe the night he did the Moth Joke on Conanan he had to do a 2nd segment of time and decided to tell it long in the 2nd segment as he didn't have enough prepared material for that set.

I genuenily think he told bad jokes to make a point that I still think even to this day most comedians don't understand. Delivery is almost more important than the joke itself. Norm proved that you can literally speak complete gibberish and bring down the house You see some comedians almost upset that people find Norm hilarious. Cause they are too attached to the joke itself

If you are lucky in your working life, you might experience working with a small group of people who make every day full of laughs and jokes. Everyone ‘gets it’. It’s usually fleeting if it even happens, but anyone that experiences it will hold those memories dear for the rest of their lives. The guys Norm left behind from this show must look back now and realise they were going to work and experiencing the sublime. A perfectly comedic moment, captured for eternity. ‘All you have to do is be funny’. NM RIP🙏

It's definitely a problem with intimacy. Fear of intimacy is about fear of judgement, which is really about shame. And Norm is obviously a man of great shame. In any event, it's fascinating watching him sublimate his neuroses.
