My one cat has learned now to lean ACROSS the mat to scratch the screen door (a favorite past time of his). I had to get out the shock collar again to keep him away as the water spray bottle was not cutting it and at 2am and sleep deprived, listening to him scratching my screen door was too much.

The ones on the counter in this video were used incorrectly. They are supposed to be placed as to blast the cat the moment they get on the counter. Not when they happen to come across it. The cat will associate object and place rather than rules and actions. If the cat is able to spend more than 2 seconds on the counter, you are doing wrong and just abusing your cat.

This thing is crap. I am on my second one. The first one lasted a couple of days. The second one lasted maybe 4 times it went off while installing it correctly. Did I say correctly? Yes I did. If I turn off the water and give up it will go off because there is a little pressure in the line still. I am a computer geek and my wife and I has spent so much time getting this thing to work. It is suppose to click whether there is a hose connected it to or not which it did when I put in the batteries. The click means that it is activated and will squirt if water was attached. As soon as we connect a water hose to it with a third water pressure it then does not want to continuously work. Really wasted a lot of time on this project, twice! I am contacting Amazon to send it back or throw it away. I don't know why people on Amazon give this device a good review. I think maybe they own the company and they are putting their friends up to the comment section. I can't just get two duds in a row. Crap, crap, crap and cheaply made. The wood screws for the battery compartment are very small and you would think that this would be an important part of the unit to protect the batteries. Crap! Note that it does not have an alarm on this. Buy one and waste your time too.

This is my last hope or keeping the cat off the couch. Keeps pooping and i hope this will be the solution ive been looking for.

Once you take the mat away, though, do they still avoid the spot?
