Amateur Radio Flora and Fauna, Radio tracking wildlife, 4X4, outback Australia and the Victoria high country any time I can. You may see me at home but I'm always working on my next outback trip. The Simpson desert 2016, where next Maralinga in 2018 the remote western areas of South Australia was the home of the Maralinga Tjarutja, a southern Pitjantjatjara Indigenous Australian people. Maralinga was the site of the British nuclear tests in the 1950s.

Whroo Cemetery

The official cemetery of the town of Whroo, Victoria, Australia, a mining town where the population rose and fell depending on the weather, health issues and recent gold finds in the area. The first recorded burial in the cemetery is in 1858 although the town actually began 5 years earlier there are over 400 graves, a great place worth the trip. www.australiancemeteries.com.au/vic/campaspe/whro...

Hard times for sure. When i was out in Karlimilyi (the rudall river NP) on a 4wd club trip we found a restored grave (thankyou outback graves). It said here lies (sorry i forgot name of the women) who died due to her husband's neglect. So many untold hardships...
Thanks yes there are so many sad story's forgotten with time
Great video. Thank you for posting it. I still remember getting a map of the world as a present when I think I was around 10 years old. It was a Mercator projection that when you unfolded it and laid it flat it covered up the kitchen table. All the major railroads of the world were marked on it. Including this one mysterious one all by itself a long way from anywhere. The ten year old me imagined amazing things that this railway must serve to be out there especially built so far away. Years passed and one day as my wife and I took our kids to a railway museum in Ipswich one of the exhibits we saw is the original Gulflander railcar. A French Penhard I think. Anyway, the penny dropped. And all these memories came flooding back. I realised I was looking at a train connected to my childhood dreams of what that mysterious railway might be. I need to visit Normanton to ride the Gulflander. Thanks again.
It’s a great place to visit, very interesting part of our history, I to had wanted to go there most of my life it took me 60 years and even if its not the old train most of the gear dates back to that time the wife and my self had a great time in Normanton we stayed at the Gulfland Motel And Caravan Park a great place and would go back
Thanks Jim l really did enjoy this, I will have to try that trick with my missis, a train Ride although shes a bit cagey on it these days, loved the Camera shots...but gee a lot of work for a little we Rail Motor, I suppose its pretty flat though..again thanks regards Doc from Lindenow
Glad you enjoyed it, Doc! It is a great line with some great views, I did find the rail motor pretty hard work but well worth it! I would like to take more video along the track but my 4x4 did a clutch and I ended up staying 3 weeks at the Gulfland Motel And Caravan Park a great place to stay there
Nicely done.
Thanks!
Jim, you've ticked off yet another item on my bucket list
Thanks it is a great trip worth the time
Hate to break this to you Jim, you missed the train at 1:52 :)
Hi I went back to take that shot on her next trip, it is a well worth the time to go up there and do a trip.
@@JimMcNabb44 Thanks Jim, I really do appreciate the effort you put into these videos. All I can do is contribute some very dry humour. :)
enjoying the videos of your Queensland trip mate. very informative I love the cemetery trips, the stories that those graves hold. hope to catch up again on the tracks one day. reminds me " burn ya bloody Paper"
Yeah I've got a few more to come from that trip including few more of those cemetery's you mentioned
Like the comment below Jim this one was very moving, thankyou for doing this regards Doc from Lindenow
Glad you enjoyed it there are two cemetery's in town and both are worth a look around regards Jim
Awsome thanks Jim
Thanks it is a great place to have a look around
Thank for this one Jim. A special one. Always find outback cemeteries a reminder of how hard life was back in the day. So many died too young in their prime and so many died as infants
Thanks I like looking around them so much history and many names well worth the time looking them up
Thanks yes there are way to many young it would have been very hard for the wife's lossing so many young
Was Shire Carpenter there 40 odd years ago Doesn’t seem to have changed that much😏
I to was up there in about mid 1980's and I think your right it still the same
Good to see some videos mate. Awesome
Old cemeteries are amazing places
yep I like the history you can find out about the people I be putting a few more up soon from my last trip up north
THANK YOU SHARE THE VIDEO
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed It I have some more in the next few days from my last trip up North
Great skills on the cranes nice video of it
Thanks, I enjoyed making it.
That loco at 1:35 kinda looks like a North British design? Kinda like a "Baby" BR Class 16 😊
Yes I think your right
Yes I think your right
Nice video, Like

Jim, would you be so kind as to ask the group to put up some video about the transmission and drive arrangement please. I'm intrigued that this is a mechanical drive machine. Also, the wikipedia page lists this class as having a Cat D355E engine but I'm wondering if they actually meant D353E. I'm unable to find any online reference to a D355E engine. If they could post the engine serial number, that might shed some light on the engine model.
Hi I'm still trying to find out about the drive and will post AS soon as I can the Cat in her is a G353
Where you been friend? Missed your uploads. Interesting video. Hope you are well.
I moved house and have not had time for any camping
Hey Jim, great to see a new video from you. Hope all is well🙂 Heavy lifts are always a challenge, this went really well. Take care, Cheers Glen.
Thanks Glen I'm doing fine and I hope you are also.
G’day Jim. Good to hear you again. I take it you’re living up that way now. More videos please.
Yep moved up this way I have a few videos to upload soon from my trip to North Queensland
Thank you Jim, its been a while miss all your regular videos, glad you shared this one, I'm in Lindenow and would really love to volunteer with this little group but its a long way to drive hehehe Im a retired Driver and rail safety Instructor...again Jim thank you so much for sharing this its good they are moving forward regards Doc from Lindenow
Hi I drive up from Yarragon and it takes me about 1 hr each way it well worth the time and you would be welcome up there
@@JimMcNabb44 Thanks Jim l might try to get over some time.
Nice one Jim. Good to hear you again.
Hi Thanks for watching
The ex QR locomotive (Dh class?) appears to have a mechanical drive, shaft driven. Your existing locomotive also has jackshaft drive, so is also diesel-mechanical? Q from NZ, 1067mm here as well.
Hello Jim. Long time no see. You sound well and this is an awesome project. I just asked my husband the other day where I can get some railway tracks from so I can have my own train. Toot Toot!
Hi, I'm doing good, hope you are too
Great video. That crane operator was a gun! Always good to see a video from you Jim, hope you are going well 👍
Hi Thanks yep I'm still going strong and both crane drivers were great
Good to see a upload jim hows is the heallth?

Some melb bus drivers are...
yep some of them should not be able to drive a car
What year would that be ? loved it.
around 1985
@@JimMcNabb44 wow thats when i 1 started exploring up there, been to the station about 4 times from Dargo side very interesting history it has
Absolute champion!! your barret antenna ...is that due to the bush... nvis???
yep it got bang up a bit on that trip
I remember running AHD cameras off a similar cheap inverter gen and you could see a lot of noise in the video signals.
Hi I spent a big amount of time working on it trying to fix it but in the end I sold it and got a Honda, it was a wast of time on HF radio
@@JimMcNabb44 Was a bit disconcerting see the voltage get up to ~300v on your video (forget if it was this video or another of yours). Regarding the radio, I guess you could just use a battery?
thats why I put a 60+ w load on the gen and never have any radio plug in when starting the gen
@@JimMcNabb44 Don't suppose you know if a typical cheap squarewave UPS regulates its AC output without resorting to battery power? Eg. if gen is putting out 280vac for a little too long, will a cheap UPS regulate it to within ~235v? Open ended question relevant to specific UPS I must admit.
there no battery you get 240v ok but the 12vdc is up and down a bit
there is any shop,,of.grocery?

Hey Jim. Were all dying to see a cooking video
Hi sorry I move house and not hat time to go camping I hope to start again soon and I see what I can make for camp food.
@JimMcNabb44 yea righto mate. Pain in the b+m moving house. Its a big job. Good to hear from you.
The Donaldson pre filter is a must in really dusty conditions… I have been using them for years in the outback They even take a lot of water out of the intake during heavy rain Keeps you paper elements dry! You do need to size them correctly for maximum efficiency
Hi there great pre filters have used them for many years
Looks like an interesting place for bird photography will have to put it on my list of places to explore thank you for sharing.
hi it a great camp spot
Have seen you on the tube for a while mate
still about I'm moving house so no camping for a bit

Hi yep I'm still in good health I'm moving house and till it's over there is no camping for a bit
Thanks for your video Jim, great tips. New Subscriber.
your welcome hope it helps
What a bunch of condescending pricks!
It only came out after Jim died that he killed his wife and buried her in a mine shaft at Lightning Ridge. They say he did it with a tomahawk...
yep that's it
