UNIQLO ULTRALIGHT DOWN Jacket Review | DON'T Make My MISTAKES!
มุมมอง 68K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The Uniqlo Ultra Light Down jacket is a great, affordable down jacket! However, I don't use mine anymore - don't make the same mistakes I did! If you're looking for a reasonably priced down jacket to keep you warm during cold weather, in this video, I review the Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Jacket. I have the synthetic down version, do you have any info on that one? like, does it keep you warm just like the RDS down material or less? Thank you

    • @journeyanywear
      @journeyanywear 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I'm not sure about the synthetic down version - I haven't been able to test that one out yet. But I've read that synthetic insulation handles water/moisture better, and dries faster than the regular down. However, the regular down is better at keeping you warm, is more lightweight, and performs better in warmer/cooler temperatures!

    I am trying to minimize my wardrobe as well as get versatile clothes for travel and I definitely want to get this in black but I cant decide if I should get the Concrete color as well. Most of my pants are grey so there wouldnt be a lot of contrast unless I wore black or light grey joggers instead of my grey jeans (my black chinos are usually only for the rare formal event).

    • @journeyanywear

      Hey bro! I'd say it would be good for a light-medium workout session. It's stretchy af and comfortable. If I'm going to do a cardio session or sweat profusely during my workout, I'd prefer a thinner shirt than this one. It has a bit of "weight" to it, but not in a bad way.

    They actually do use a high quality zipper. If you look carefully, you can see that it's YKK brand. I think what you might not like is the tiny size of the zipper which makes it somewhat difficult to utilize? It does help keep the jacket as light as possible though.

    • @journeyanywear
      @journeyanywear ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't even realize the zipper was YKK! Yeah, not sure why it just wasn't working as smoothly for me. Could be the small size of the zipper indeed 🤷🏽‍♂️

    just saw your review, and I can confirm this after 4 years of wear, that this down jacket leaks feathers like no tomorrow. I always use a laundry net for most uniqlo products because, although they are higher quality for price, they are not as durable as Uniqlo claims. FYI for all future Uniqlo buyers. @journeyanywear ปีที่แล้ว

      When I've used this in rain, I've never experienced rain going through the the roll top and into the main compartment of the bag. However, for the small quick access pocket at the top - this unfortunately has succumbed a couple times to leaking some water/moisture when in the rain for a long time. If you're in the rain for a short period of time, it should be fine though. Note: The bag in this video is an original PRVKE - not sure if this issue has been fixed in the new one!

    Wool is a natural fiber and as with all-natural wool/ fur/hair (same thing) have a temperature range from summer to winter temps. Cool in summer, warm in winter. Wash with a neutral soap. Squeeze the water out. Don't wring or you may felt the wool. lay the garment on a towel and roll the towel tightly and squeeze. . At this point the garment will be slightly damp to the tuch and wear able. It will dry on your body in a few minutes. After about 5 washing give the garment a lanolin bath to soften the wool and make it more water resistant, which will decrease drying time and increase evaporation rate. All wool is antimicrobial and antibacterial. That is why they don't smell. You can find lanolin instruction on You tube

    You can wear a Down Jacket as part of your layer system under another coat in extreme weather. I use down jackets like they are Jumpers .... I have about 8 - 10 of them ... and my first hooded down Jacket [brand new with tags] only cost me £15 including post, from Ireland. I actually bought a decathlon hooded down jacket just a few moments ago ... seriously ... for only £18 inc post .... and the tag on it says its full down [no mention of feathers] so I'm guessing it's probably not the forclaz trek 100 [it says : Down Jacket Full Down Grey ... on the label]. It is the same design, but without the FORCLAZ logo on the left arm. I'm an XL so I bought a 3XL, and it should arrive in 3 days. PS: I plan on cutting up most of the Down Jackets I own to make other things ... the cheapest one I've bought cost £5 inc post ... and once, I bought an XL down gilet [BNWT] for £14 from Ireland ... but got sent a BNWT 2XL 400 fill down Regatta Jacket instead [the tag on that one said £250]. Edit : I just noticed in a photo that it has a "Quechua" logo on the seam by the right pocket ... the Decathlon label is on the inside.

    Uniqlo vs decathlon, Which down jacket you like the most? Means which is kindaa worth for money?

    • @journeyanywear
      @journeyanywear ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they're both worth it for the money! But if I were to choose, I'd pick my Decathlon Forclaz Trek 100 - for a little more money, you get a more durable jacket that includes a hood as well. I think the Decathlon jacket is better for overall adventuring/hiking/traveling. Note though that it is quite puffy though! If you want to save a few bucks and get a more low key/stylish jacket to walk around town and travel with too, the Uniqlo Ultralight Down will be fine (unless you get a faulty one like mine in this video 😆). Check out the Uniqlo jacket review on my channel for more info on it - cheers!

      The down jacket featured in this video is not very warm and the Uniqlo one it’s actually warmer.Don’t just look at the down fill power but also at how much of that down there is inside of the jacket. Also look at what the shell and lining is made of and how thick it is as well as whether or not it is coded with any DWR finish.

    I have the hooded one from 6-7 years ago and there’s been no issues. I have an even older 850 North Face that’s even better if someone wanted to upgrade.

      That's dope that your Uniqlo and North Face down jackets are going strong after so many years! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

    did you take american L - that is european XL?

    • @journeyanywear
      @journeyanywear ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, from the U.S. Decathlon website, I originally ordered this in Large, which I believe is European XL - this was back in 2020 though, so I'm not quite sure if the sizing has changed...be sure to check the size guide on your country's Decathlon website to be sure!

    I love the feel and fit of this shirt but it pils too quickly making it just a yard work weekend T-shirt for me after about 3-4 washings

    • @journeyanywear
      @journeyanywear ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting! I did experience pilling, but only after long-term & heavy usage while traveling. I always used the washer for it, and hang dried it. Hope it's working alright as a yard shirt for ya though lol!
