Take Your Aquarium Cleaning To The Next Level - 5 Must Have Tools For Pristine Tanks
In this video I discuss the essential tools we can use to make sure our tanks are pristine. When your reef tank is clean, not only are your corals potentially happier as you fight off algae, but you and the people around you are more likely to enjoy your aquarium too!
Another must have tool for cleaning I forgot the mention is a good old reef podcast or TH-cam video. Play these in the background while you work on your tank.

Hello Michael. I am glad your video popped up in my TH-cam feed. I have become a fan of your reef. I look forward to more of your videos. Your reef keeping practice is very similar to what I have been doing with mine. I utilize the Korallen Zucht, Zeobac system and since my nano reef only requires very little of K.Z. products I does those by hand daily. I also use Tropic Marin's All for Reef for primary parameters and trace elements. I would like to see a video of how and what you are dosing to your reef tank with. Utilizing glass pipes and such a simplistic approach with equipment just makes your corals stand out with out any distractions to the eye. Another question I had is what setting on your wave maker are you using to create the back and forth motion in your water flow?

I started with a CAN on my first tank setup. I made that decision after watching this and many other videos on running CAN's on reef tanks. Honestly this kind of setup is very niche, such as having that particular CAN with the heater integrated and doing all your piping in glass or acrylic. I ended up just being over whelmed with HOB equipment that would normally be down in the sump area. I am now planning on migrating my current tank to a larger one that actually uses a SUMP system. I honestly wish I had just went the SUMP route to begin with.

I’ve been at this since I was 7 years old. Grandfather gave me a 10 gallon tank for my birthday. So almost 50 years at this. For me it’s about filtration flow and dedication to cleaning. I invested in cleaning tools and a set schedule for my aquariums I currently have. 20, 75, 90, 180, and two 225 gallon tanks. I only speak for myself but I use canister filters for all my saltwater aquariums. I water change each aquarium every other week, on a rotating schedule since I have several lol and clean every filter once a month. My levels are always perfect. I also use a lot of live rock, a large team of cleaner shrimp and I oversized the canisters because the flow ratings are marketing hype. The ratings are based on zero pump height with no media basically setting the pump next to the aquarium and empty, how much water can the pump push. Setting a water pump under an aquarium (as almost all are except for custom setups) makes the pump work harder. Basic physics. All filtration media also make the pump work harder, further reducing flow of gallons per hour. With all that said, a properly sized canister, cleaned regularly, more than gets the job done. A lot of guys with TH-cam channels show you that they clean their canister filters once every 3-6 months or longer. You have a beautiful setup by the way.

Great video. Well explained 👏 I've been doing the same, adding very little 2ppm nitrate every few weeks. As nitrates sitting at 5ppm phosphates always trying to head down to zero from 0.02, I'm adding elos phosphate 4ppm every 3 days to keep this at 0.02ppm. Testing now with the smart tester by reeffactory as super accurate. My gonipora likes a little dirty water and struggle when lower levels.
