Surface resting is when cetaceans are travelling slowly on the surface. We didn't chase these whales - they surfaced close to us and approached us, prior to 'resting' and then took off.

Hello June, Even though Basking Shark are bigger than, and have more teeth than the Great White Shark, they dont posses a bite instinct. They are passive feeders who swim along at about 3mph with their mouths open collecting plankton from the water, gill rakers collect the plankton and the shark closes its mouth everry 90 seconds and swallows the feed. they are harmless and gentle,
