19-Year-Old ROGER FEDERER defeats King Of Wimbledon (2001)
Federer, just 19 years old at the time, faced Sampras in the fourth round of Wimbledon. At the time, Sampras was considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time and had won seven Wimbledon titles, setting a tournament record.
The victory over Sampras represented a generational shift in tennis. Sampras was considered the dominant player of the 1990s, and his defeat of the young Federer marked the beginning of a new era in the sport.

Roland Garros 1992 witnessed a historic match in the women's draw. Monica Seles won her third consecutive Grand Slam after beating Steffi Graf. That third set that lasted 91 minutes has gone down in history as one of the best for its level. We remember this fantastic final.

The last Grand Slam Final between Federer and Nadal. Tennis fans witnessed epic matches during the golden age of the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal rivalry, but they saw a different kind of classic in the 2017 Australian Open final. Pete Sampras is legend
I feel like crying for Dominic. One of the best matches from Dominic against Nadal whose longer experience helped. Stroke for stroke Dominic had the upper hand though.
Answer that question
Answer it
I was champion that year. GET THIS RIGHT. YOU TUBE. WHY HAVE YOU TOLD LIES. ANSWER THIS.
I don't know how Federer lost to Tim Henman after this epic battle
Beautiful one-handed backhands, not like the sissy two-handed ones of today.
This commentary is one of the best. No statistics! No silly metaphors. Just respect for the players and the game.
how is it humanly possible to return Sampras serve?
Love nasals respect for theim.
howd it go from night to day lol
Atrocious comments from Djoko fans who have the incurable complex, whereas this video is nothing to do with him.
Roger el mejor del mundo.
Biggest what if in tennis history. I still remember at one point thiem had positive head to head against all of big 3.
Federer's quality is unbelievable
I have always been an admirer of Petr Sampras serves.....❤ GSR
It's like Michelle Obama (Giant Mike) Vs. Jill Biden (DOCTOR Jill)
Graff and her poor backhand...always relying on the slice....that's why she lost.
That challenge in the end disturbed the rythm of Thiem
Monica had a problem with food way back in 1991. She didn't have the fitness level or practice drive like Graf. There is NO WAY she was going to keep dominating. From Sports Illustrated 1991: "There she goes again, slathering heaping mounds of butter across her steak, her French fries, her pizza. "Ugh. Gross, totally grody, I know," she says. "But I can't help it. I must be addicted to butter. I just can't eat any food without it. I know it all goes right to fat down there, too [she points below her waist]."
25:39 lmao perfect pass
Domi 😢 just why? So sad.
No comments about the Pro Staffs being used: 1st gen vs 2nd gen
My fave tennis story of Wimbledon was McEnroe deciding to play in '77 after he graduated in high school, as an amateur before his freshman year at Stanford in which he would become the NCAA champion. Mac played the qualifying rounds in '77, won a spot, then kept winning, making it to the the quarterfinals, despite not being eligible for prize money as a amateur.
Who was the world # 1 then? Andre Agassi, I believe.
33:07 great point
Some of the best tennis ever played.
what a great watch, awesome match from both of them.. :)
Boris Becker won Wimbledon at 17.
The Best forever RF ❤❤❤
brutal match where now is the world champion of the world who thought he is the only one the best no Rafa no Roger no thiem
This kinda game wouldn't even make it to the grand slam these days.
19 years but channelling some old geezer... Sampras ego-free maestro
5.18- lol, what a sitter- probably what caused Sampras the match! If he had broken here, might have had a different result!
I can remember being so pleased when Fed won this match .
What was Sampras's opinion on Fed 40-15, with due respect, put Sampras there, I believe even at 50, he would still have been able to serve the ace, to win championship point, against Djokovic.
This style of play is why we play pickleball 😃
29 is the absolute prime of a male what is this shit. 😂😂
31:00
Federer earned that one!
AND the NEW Miss America is......"ROGER FEDERER!!" 35:00 omg omg omg omg omg!!!🤣
28:28
26:33 love 30 and bam bam bam bam
Atacaban mucho la red
@olimpiya
Partidazo!!!
Fantastisch om Federer te zien uit het verleden. Van de 'big three' kreunde hij nooit en dat maakt hem speciaal.
Such a great match!
In comparison with Federer at Wimbledon 2019, this match looks like amateur tennis 🎾
Even Sampras at 50, would have found the ace or unreturnable, to win Djokovic on championship point.
