    Why can't you just apply the effect directly to the individual pads? I've just been going into the pad mixer and applying it to that specific pad. For example, air flavor pro.

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Excellent question. The primary difference is that this method allows for you to apply one insert to several pads at once. In reality, when using sends and returns, you are hearing a hybrid between the original signal and the affected signal. The send/return method is a form of parallel processing. This also saves system resources for more involved projects. Long and short, it prevents you from having to apply effects to pads individually. You may even want to try the submix method. I cover that here: th-cam.com/video/l5umhBw7ik4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_wML5iVY1vgWrp3Y

      Since my last posting I have discovered that OP 1F will not accept WAV files as I posted earlier. The doc information says it can, but believe me it will not recognise the WAV format. It will accept AFF without issue.

  • @JohnSAitken
    @JohnSAitken 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I uploaded files onto the op1f without installing any software on a Windows Laptop. You should have informed us people that audio file extension is AFF, if you want to load samples from other devices. If the files are MP3 or WAV they will need to be converted. The file I uploaded was way too big and only played about 20 seconds or so. Will have to experiment a wee bit with files. Hope this helps some folks.

    Very nice. Despite Mpc 3 being on the way I have a quick question...is there a down side to route the entire drum program to a submix? For hip hop and that type of stuff. Thank you and best regards from Portugal

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question. No. I wouldn’t say that there is a downside. If anything you can apply a dynamics utility to your percussive arrangement. I usually use buss compression on drum submixes but at this point you can use what ever you like. Routing your drums to submixes affords you the ability to control elements that you may have otherwise overlooked. Take a look at the buss compressor section of this video when you have the chance: th-cam.com/video/P6f3YGcLyk4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Z9ZG2yVh4sYiCtwI Thank you so much for question and for supporting the channel 😀.

    A little tip for the vintage compressor or really any drum compression is to use a slower attack and medium to fast release so you can keeo the transients and also avoid losing the punchiness from the compressor. Keep it at 50% dry/wet and use a 4:1 ratio like you did and youll get a punchy fat sound with the transients so you dont lose any short hits like hihats, kick transients and all that jazz. Otherwise this was a great tutorial and helped me level up my understanding of the MPC compressors. I was trying to find anything that could tell me which one was most like the 1176 and this didnt directly answer my question but it was great and useful info nonetheless. Appreciate it man! You got a sub out of me for sure.

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you so much. You are absolutely right about the vintage compressor. Using the method that you recommended will definitely add character and punch to percussive arrangements. An 1176/FET emulation would be a cool addition to the MPC insert lineup. I didn’t see anything that that mimics an FET but I’ll take a look again. I researched the AIR limiter but it appears to be a standard mastering limiter. I’ll experiment with the settings and let you know if anything comes about this. Thank you so much for supporting the channel 😀.

    I have a question. Can you just use usb on mpc for audio instead of using audio cables on jx08? I'm trying to play the jx08 audio thru mpc live 2 speakers. I could have sworn one day I hooked up just usb and it play a sound thru the mpc

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Very good question. Yes you can but the line inputs of the MPC become inert. The JX-08 essentially becomes the audio interface. I believe it also replaces the MPC line output source as well. I’m curious as to how MPC 3 will go about handling this because I like the idea of audio over USB but I also like the flexibility of selecting which input/output source I would like to use on a per instance/track basis. Let me know if this helps. Thank you for the excellent question 😀!

    I have it and at least my jd08 assigns the last slider/button/knob I touched to each palette. You can also see from your video at the end when you touch any slider that in reality they don't modify the filter, phaser, lfo but they change the waveforms of the lfo. Now I don't know if there is an internal setting or not to set a different parameter on each palette but I don't think so. let's hope Roland updates the firmware because it would be much much more interesting to change different parameters for each layer instead of just one on all four. so.... greetings from Italy and enjoy music.

    Weird question: I resampled my music, cut the sample right at the start point, but when I play it back, it's slightly faster than the master tempo, even though I never touched tempo. Is there a reason you can think of? Appreciate your time and content. Earned a sub.

    • @brianpinkins6218
      @brianpinkins6218 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use threshold recording. When you resample, increase the sampler volume slider a little (i.e., threshold level), press the sampler record button and then play what you want to resample. The sampler will start resampling only when it receives input that reaches the threshold level you set. The start point should be perfect, with no edits required, and the resampled audio should be in perfect time when played back.

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with @brianpinkin6218 unless there is something causing an inadvertent warping of the samples playback tempo. There is an option for sample warping in the sample editor section. Is this still giving you issues? Hopefully MPC 3 remedies this. I’m looking forward to the update. In the meantime, I will attempt a few fixes on my end. I’ll keep you posted. Just bought one of these, this is awesome! Thanks for these tutorials; I'm new to sound synthesis. Could you do a tutorial on how to make a clap or snare sound as well? Also how would I make a G funk/DJ quick type bass? Hopefully I don't need a moog, cause I don't got one lol. There aren't many sound design tuts with this machine so I'm trying my best to figure it out.

      Most definitely. This unit actually lends itself well to percussive patches. I’ve experimented with a few in the past. Let me see what I can do. Hopefully I can get a video up sooner than later. Thank you for the request and for supporting the channel😀.

      I just uploaded this one. I took out a moment to expand on percussive sound design theory. 😀 th-cam.com/video/ZDZZd3mW4ic/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zVfkkmg1r1EDHx1_

    Bro! You are an absolute GEM! Especially when it comes to the MPC!!!!! I have the MPC Key 37 and there's just no tutorials for it and I'm finding out that any and all tutorials for the MPC One and Live are the ones that apply to the Key 37. It would've been nice if someone, erh...anyone would explain that. I'm a complete MPC virgin and the Key 37 is my very first MPC ever. You videos are so helpful and pretty much the only ones that reach out to me and I'm so thankful to you for that! You wouldn't by any chance have any tutorials on how to record vocals and create complete songs with vocals would you? I'm so lost when it comes to recording vocals on the Key 37. Like, am I supposed to put the tracks in the midi tab, and sequence them to the audio tab, etc? I wish I could explain what I'm asking but I don't even know how to explain it myself. LOL. Thank you Bro!

      You're welcome. My apologies for the delayed response. I would be more than happy to help with this. The latest version of the MPC firmware allows you to connect an audio interface via USB. I would definitely go this route. Make sure the audio interface has a phantom power switch (assuming you are using a condenser mic). The MPC should recognize the device. After that, I would connect my mic and record the vocal as an audio track. I've been toying with the idea of making a video on this topic. Stay tuned. I may create a video on how I record external audio. Thank you so much for the question.😀

      @@dncmusic8070 No worries on the delay! It's been 3 days since you replied so I'm guilty as well. LOL. I've already got the audio interface and with phantom since my mic requires phantom. It's laying down the vocals that I'm having a hard time with. When I put the tracks in Song Mode, I'll try to lay down vocals but the "tracks," in the sequencing mute out. For example, I've got a verse in a sequence, but when I record the vocals, the drums would mute out, or the electric piano track would mute out, and then it loops. Man, it's hard to explain when I don't even know how to describe it. LOL! I'm going to go ahead a make a video of what I'm talking about, and upload it on TH-cam and I'll tag you on it. That would be easier for the both of us. LOLOL!! Thanks Brother!!!

    Is it possible to run the sequencer with the arpeggiator? Thanks!

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the delayed response. Yes you can. I typically run the arpeggiator and the sequence on separate parts of the unit. Part A for the sequence and part B for the arpeggiator (or vice-versa). This allows you to run effects and modulations independent of their respective layers/parts. Does this help? Let me know and thank you for the question 😀!
