The Bee Gees arrangement and orchestration was far better, as well as their falsetto voices which made the theme of the song, which was that of an older man haven noticed a young girl come of age, sound more like an acceptable May and December soul mate discovery, and not an older manchild pervert who, as the lyrics suggest " girl I've known you very well, I've seen you growing everyday, I never really looked before, but now you take my breath away" , suggest that he has now started to see this pre-teen as prey, with him as the predetor! The Tavares singing those lines in baritone, sounds more Creep than Sweet! Lol The Bee Gees singing it in a falsetto, feminine friendly, and non-threatening pitch imbues sincere passion.

This is definitely a classic!

Cant forget Denise Williams, and Shante Moore. They could sing high pitch also. None on Ripertons level though. Great artists. RIP, gone too soon.

So, I was born in May of 1975, a 70's baby, and child of the 80's, and a young adult in the 90's. In 1977 I am two years old, and not yet cognitive of world happenings. But in 1985 when the Whitney Houston remake dropped, I am 10 years old, and very much more cognitive than at age two. Through virtue of when I was born, I grew up to the Whitney cover, and I had no idea, like most folks my age, that Whitney's was a cover. Having said all of that, I find myself now very torn. It's difficult for me to move against the soundtrack of my life, but now, I must say, I'm now moving more toward George Benson's SOULFUL SOULFUL SOULFUL original, as my new preference to this song, and I can't believe I am saying this.

You graduated the year my mom and dad did. And Madonna was her idol. This song came out her serior year and in her yearbook where it said best 1985 song; my mom wrote MADONNA crazy for tou and put stars around it . She was "naughty girl" that men and women both loved in the 80s. Her Michael and Prince are the pop Trinity.

So this song is much more poignant now looking back on the freedoms we’ve lost, the chasmic division in our society and of course, the passion of my own youth that-let’s be honest-flamed out eins ago LOL!
