    A more fair comparison is between St. Albert and certain Edmonton neighbourhoods or districts, like Crestwood or Griesbach. St. Albert is nice to live in, but if you work in Edmonton, the daily commute is brutal. Homelessness is a national problem, so whether you see it or not does not mean it isn’t a St. Albert problem, too.

    These should be called fish bowl homes because they are like living in a fish bowl. No yard, no privacy, an absolute rip off. They are basically selling you apartments for 1/2 million dollars each. I can’t believe that governments are letting builders build homes this close together again. I thought this practice was banned back in the eighties along with cookie cutter neighbourhoods. Too bad Canada wasn’t bigger so we could space the houses further apart.

    Very spacious and the layout is not too bad either. A little bit pricey for a townhouse but looks elegant and perfect if you can’t be bothered with huge yard maintenance or snow removal. Just have to be careful with condo fees and if there is a HOA. They can be a real PITA.

    I was looking forward to seeing you post another video. It’s been quite awhile. That condo looks very impressive, especially for 230k. It’s sad that there isn’t much in St.Albert for that price. Possibly grandin village or ridgewood terrace? St.Albert is pretty expensive sadly and I also sadly think St.Albert is for the elite, and I am definitely NOT elite! I work at one of the busier grocery stores in St.Albert and you would be surprised how some people there let me know that I’m not the elite.

    High property taxes….but still subsidized by Edmonton tax payers. Vastly more St Albert residents work and use the infrastructure of Edmonton vs the other way around. Love hearing St Albert residents complain about traffic on the roads they don’t pay for and make congested by their choice to have long commutes.

    1:30 Without a shadow of a doubt, the reason why Calgary will and should always cost more than Edmonton, is location. Calgary is a 1h drive to what is generally considered one of the, if not the most beautiful locations in Canada, The Rocky Mountains. Edmonton is a 4h drive from anything that isn't a flat farmers field and for a lot of people, that just isn't acceptable quality of life. Also, Edmonton's airport is probably the worst set up in any city over 1m people, possibly in the world. Edmonton's airport has very few international destination, almost all trips travel to Calgary, Vancouver, or Toronto, unless you're going Cancun, almost guaranteed, you have a layover. The same is absolutely not true from Calgary. Also, Edmonton's airport is a 30+ minute drive south of the city, and get this, even if you live on the South side of the city, it costs $75 each way in taxi to get to the airport. That is actually attrocious and unacceptable, but won't be fixed for another hundred years due to bad planning. Compare that to Vancouver, you can take a $4 train from anywhere in the city to the airport in half the time. Much like most major cities in the world.

    • @Evan_Cochlin
      @Evan_Cochlin 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that Calgary's location is better, being so close to the mountains and having more options at the airport are both very nice. However, many people are willing to drive the extra 2.5 hrs to the mountains and take a connecting flight when traveling if it means saving 200K on the price of their home.

    I love the older neighbourhoods and the character homes. I’m sad to see them tearing down the old houses and replacing them with infill houses. At the moment, non-Canadians are not allowed to buy residential property in Canada unless they are studying, working, or refugees here. Can you discuss winter in St. Albert compared to Edmonton and Calgary?

    • @Evan_Cochlin
      @Evan_Cochlin 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Winter in St. Albert is identical to Edmonton because they are so close together. Calgary is also very similar however it usually doesn't get quite as cold because its farther south.

      St. Albert clears residential roads - no build up of snow. Edmonton is horrendous for this.

    Is the political culture of St. Albert conducive to traditional families who don't want to live in a Woke environment??

      Alberta is often referred to as the Texas of Canada for the most part. Hopefully that answers your question.

    Are there a lot of people moving there from Calgary and Edmonton? Is it similar to Okotoks or Airdrie?😅

      St. Albert is similar to Okotoks, Airdrie, and Cochrane in that people who don't want to live in the big city tend to move there instead for a little more peace and quiet.

      @@dovygoodguy1296 There is a large population of retirement age people in St. Albert. It's a great place to spend the summer. Many of those people travel south to dodge the harsh winters... but of course that is not cheap these days.
