Question; why do they put only one reactor? It makes no sense to me. To me they should have many reactors, so damaging one with a rail gun shot would not render the ship incapable.

The Pella's interior sets in the show, just like the Rocinante, don't actually fit in the ship's hull. Once you've watched enough scenes, you got a feel for how big the decks were on the Pella in general. When you compared them to the width of the hull, they just didn't fit. This problem was far worse on the Rocinante, but the Pella had the same issue. How did this happen? In the case of the Rocinante, the production crew had long built the interior sets before the FX crew had finalized the exterior design of the Roci. The sets HAD to be laid out the way they were for purposes of shooting the scenes. This was driven home to me by the scene in Episode 5, 1st Season ("Back to the Butcher") where Niomi is wandering one of the decks on the Tachi (later, the Roci) and you see just how long the corridor is behind her by all the reference points like the access level ladder and two different intersections. And it is WAY too long to fit in the Roci's hull. Indeed, that hallway alone was at least three times the width of the widest point on the Roci. But, oh boy did those sets look fantastic. And they WERE the correct general shape of the hull, so you could pretty much ignore the sizing issue.

Most battles in movies are so dumb. And media in general is suffering from mountains of low quality or political garbage. And especially in scifi the science part ofthen goes out the window. The expanse is one of the very few shows where i have seen realistic space combat. And not just that. Every aspect of the world seems to be well thought out.

Why You think we are either interested in Your take on the Series, as well as Your apparent lack of awareness of the degree Your conjecture of boring observations is detracting from the public's pleasure in the Expanse is a mystery. Glen that Expanse ships are all glass cannons and armor does nothing, I’m surprised anyone builds capital ships. Swarms of corvettes with rail guns would seem to be the budget friendly way to go.

Hmmmmm. I've seen the icon for this series on the menu, but I've never clicked on it to watch. Might give it a shot.

Another thing a lot of people miss.... The first volley fired by the Pella, Lauber, and Gannicus (and the return volley by the Roci) are all high quality Martian torpedoes. However towards the end of the fight, the Pella is using cheap Belter torpedoes. Whether this is deliberate - they know the Roci is taking out thier expensive Martian torpedoes so are trying to empty thier PDC magazines with cheap Belter torpedoes, with the aim of finishing the fight by going back to Martian torpedoes, or that the Pella actually exhausted its supply of Martian torpedoes and they are struggling to get more, is not known, but one thing is clear - Inaros by this point no longer has a reliable supply of Martian torpedoes, and probably other Martian tech, which is one reason he is hurrying up with his plan to make for the ring systems.....

Powered by a huge central nuclear reactor - weak spot. Yeah, pretty sure the Empire discovered that little nugget long before the people living during the events of The Expanse.

Great breakdown of the battle, I've watched this video at least 3 times since it came out. Please also take this as honest feedback, the constant switching between present simple and past simple when narrating is super distracting. Usually one picks one a narrative tense and sticks with it, it'll make your video seem a lot more professional than it already is with just a little checking. Again, great video and well done!

Still love seeing these videos when they come up on my recommendations. I'd just add, the visual cones for the PDCs at the 4.15 mark are likely nothing more than a cool visual effect, not an AOE, as they will shoot in a straight line. If they really represent anything then they are most likely the area that the individual targeting sensors on the PDC can 'see'. I always love how the panels on the Expanse are actually functional rather than random buttons as on Star Trek.

I know this is a new comment but what happened to the ship which was disappeared by the space time anomaly during the transit? I'm curious but if you don't have an answer I will respect that.

I loved this show so much I watched it twice in six months. I'm finding a bit of a dearth of worthwhile things to watch so I might make it 3.

The only thing i cant understand about this ship is the lack of an axial railgun .. i think simularly size earth warships do have them...

So the Orion class has less PDC's than the Rocinante? Seems weird. Having more torps is pointless if you get smoked before being able to fire enough off.

Can we please get a short mini series for the last few books? I want to see the Magnetar in action, and so does everyone else.

I love that when they had their budget slashed, they went wit ha shorter, high quality season instead of a standard length season with a lower budget.

I thought all the stuff with the Laconia empire was cool in the books. A shame they cancelled the show just short of that story.

in the Books the Behemoth was armed with torpedo bays and several railguns. However, they feared to use them because the ship would probably break from firing them. Sam removed them to enable the spin of the station once more ...

Imagine stealing an advanced martian ship, being able to fool and destroy UNN battleships, seed terror across the universe and still lose to a cowboy and his armored girlfriend in a small frigate.

UN didnt had quantity over quality it just that most of their fleet was old

They took "Quantity over quality" to the extreme with the Leonidas Class, that was already outdated before production

The effective range of rge railun is basically the range where it can expect to hit. In space this basically means a range close enough your enemy doesn't have time to dodge or their evasive maneuvers take them away from where they were expected to be.

A already miss the show why cancel it am pretty sure there lord of the rings show is a flop yet they kept it there was loads of other shows they could have cancelled and kept the expanse running a love how they didn’t end it but left it open for the 30 year time jump hopefully they continue to season 7 at some point and pray they don’t consider a reboot
