WINTER MEETINGS: Phils Sign Jordan Romano, What’s Next for the #Phillies?

Barring a miracle, Juan Soto isn’t signing with the Phillies. He has received multiple $600 million offers, according to Fair Territory’s Ken Rosenthal. Soto could make a decision before the end of next week’s Winter Meetings in Dallas. We said on this show last week that the Phillies had not met with Soto. We even wondered if an offer would be made. It turns out, the Phillies have not made an ...

There is a report that the Phils have not communicated with Scott Boras, who is Soto’s agent. We hear otherwise. Regardless, the Phillies’ chances at signing Soto remains a longshot. Ruben, Jim and Todd get ...

DUMBROWSKI wont do shit...We need 3rd starter NO SCRUBS like DUMBROWSKI has brought in
Allsn in the HOF is another reason Cooperstown is worthless.. undeserved.. 350HR is not HOF caliber by any measure but because of wokeness or other non-baseball factors, the committee was determined to get him in somehow
You’ll be seeing Soto next year quite a bit. LGM
10hrs now, why so few comments? BTW, our team, the Phills, chase.too much.
As a kid growing up in Philly in the 60's, I feel fortunate to have seen Dick Allen play, in person, at Connie Mack Stadium and regularly on TV. A true HOFer. I only wish he had lived to see this day.
For better or worse, as a kid in the 60’s watching the Phillies on TV or listening on radio, I was never aware of the racism Allen was subjected to. He was just the greatest Phillies star ever.
I was at the game with the Safety Patrol when Dick Allen hit a homerun over the Cocoa Cola Sign in Left Field at Connie Mack Stadium I think it was over 600 feet
This is long overdue
Soto will bust
Most teams are now non-competitive - just the minor leagues for the rich teams....not good in the long run.
Philly fans are really rough sometimes. They booed Dick Allen out of town and now everyone is happy he’s in HOF. It’s a shame fans never appreciated him while he was here.
Let EVERYONE IN.....
The BBWA voters were racist af. 18% was his highest total over 15 years
Phinally dick Allen gets in. Congrats
Soto or not. The Mets are still going to Met. It's what they do.
Allen, Callison, Bunning... Good times.
I was in the 200 level seats at the Vet the first night Dick Allen returned to the Phillies in 1975. It was so exciting as a 14 year old kid seeing this legend. He was renowned for his massive tape-measure shots at Connie Mack. It felt like, and in fact was, the beginning of great things for the Phillies. So great to see Dick Allen in the HOF.
I remember reading the ovation for Dick’s first time up was several minutes long.
765 million is actual insanity, the Phils definitely have some work to do
We already have the work put in. We have 5 stars in the minor leagues ready to rock. We have atleast 300 mil we can spend on Free Agents and we also have trade bait... lol so whats up?
@ they need to actually sign players and trade players. They can have all of the flexibility in the world financially and farm system wise but if they don’t utilize any of it (like they haven’t the past couple offseasons/trade deadlines) then it doesn’t mean too much
Why SHOW up DUMBROWSKI not doing shit
In a while n now mode, Bohm and Stott both have more value to the the Phillies than as trade chips.
I also wouldn't trade Ranger. I don't think hes buit to be a starter, but he could be moved to the pen and hes immediately your most versatile reliever.
Robert Jr has a swing and miss chase issue which is what they're trying to get away from, and, Crochet allegedly telling teams that he wouldn't pitch in October tells me he doesn't have a championship mentality. AND....I do not trade Bohm. 97 RBI in consecutive years, would have had 100+ and 50 doubles if not for the injury. Look at his before injury and after and it tells the story.
Hey guys, Jays fan. Is there any deal to be made like Springer for Castellanos if Jays eat 5 million each of the next two years to get Springer down to 19 million?
If we didn't sign Turner , we would of had a better chance to sign him.
Nick Castenollos needs to be traded
Hes not going anywhere. Too big of a salary plus they wont get anything of value.
I would trade Rojas instead of Crawford. Put Crawford in CF now. Better than Rojas.
Brewers say no to both, especially Suarez
Last I checked the Yankees didn’t win the WS, did they? No way I’d pay $700 MM for anyone not named Shohei.
Ruben knows ball. Love the Phillies Show
NO TRADING MILLER!!!! Sorry Rube, by many accounts, Bohm has medium value for most teams..
10:45 Aidan Miller is untouchable plus if The Astros resign Bregman then where does Miller play? Houston Gets- Starlyn Caba, Brandon Marsh & Mick Abel Phillies Get- Kyle Tucker & Ryan Pressley
I'd take one year of Kyle Tucker for Aidan Miller, provided you could negotiate an extension with him.
14:52 Thank you Todd for mentioning my trade proposal.
Been enjoying this podcast since I found it.
Thanks for watching! Happy to hear you're enjoying it!
White Sox will trade Gerrit Crochet and Luis Robert in separate deals to maximize the talent return. I like Gerrit Crochet for Crawford, Caba, and Tait. That would be the max in prospect capital I would give up. I do think Gerrit Crochet will be special
Aidan Miller has to be an untouchable!!!
You'd think the Royals would have preferred Alec Bohm over Jonathan India. Perhaps there could have been a three-way trade: Bohm to KC; Brady Singer to Milwaukee; and Devin Williams to Philly...
Bohm has the higher ceiling I believe however India has shown he could be the consistent Lead Off hitter that Kansas City needs.
Jim, I was at that Dodgers/Phillies game in LA in 2017 when Hector Neris gave up the 3 straight bombs. Crazy way to lose.
Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reported that the Mariners had inquired about Alec Bohm but had balked when the Phillies reportedly asked for George Kirby or Logan Gilbert. The Mariners are unlikely to trade three or more years of a young, cost-controlled starter for two years of Bohm with Bohm's career bWAR of 3.8. This year Seattle posted a team wRC+ of 104, including a league-leading wRC+ of 118 after August. The Mariners hope to improve their hitting but their offensive woes have been overstated.
The Miami trade would be insane. But I still want Bohm out of town. I like Bohm but his attitude changed
His attitude rubs me the wrong way. I'm sick and tired of his child act.
@PhillyThe13th yea he's gotta go. I'd sign Bregman or Adames if it helps us get a WS this year. If they can trade him & sign bregman plus trading for Crochet. I wish the east coast teams had more of a chance to get Sasaki
Great episode guys! Keep doing these unique episodes👍🏼
Great to hear! We thought it'd be something different and fun.
Stott and Rojas for Dev Williams
Rub overvaluing Bohm a little. Bad defender with no thump doesn’t garner a TON of leverage
I’d argue he’s overvaluing him a lot, Bohm in his best season in the big leagues (this past year) was a 20% better than average hitter. Which as a third baseman that is not giving you much if any value with the glove isn’t that great. Plus who’s to say this past season is even the norm for Bohm, every season prior to 2024 he was less than 10% above average as a hitter. I think it’s extremely smart right now for the Phillies to sell high on him.
Hey Ruben. Work out at the same gym as Jerry Martin. Told me recently that YOU fired him!?!? Good dude. Showed me his 2008 WS Ring for coaching 1st base the first 1/3 of the season.
Wow! You guys get going early!!
Thinking the same thing. They could've recorded it yesterday for today. Jim is wearing the same t-shirt and undershirt. 😂 Either way, it makes for an interesting early morning truck run. 👍
We've heard people like listening on their way to work or at the gym, so we try to post as early as we can. Doesn't always happen though. And yes, sometimes we record the night before to post early in the AM!
There's no reason economically speaking the Phils could not have gone after Soto. Last year Ohtani deferred the first 10 years of his LA deal so he will be getting $2mil/y til 2033 before the big money.. You're telling me the Phils could not have set up an offer similar to that?
I think that one of the reasons why Dick Allen's career was so underappreciated and under recognized for the greatness it was is because the Phillies as a whole were so lousy for most of his career, people then and now overlook him because the team around him was no good and he never got the same level of praise from the media of his era that Clemente, Aaron, Mantle, Gibson, Drysdale & Koufax did
The over rated. Philly. President. GM. Got the team in bad money contracts bad signings. Will do very little in winter meeting. Most likely making the team have a new problem at. 3rd left and center must be replaced along with. 2 relievers and a starter
Foul Territory, I enjoy your Phillies show and I am a Yankees fan here! I live in Jersey but been to Philadelphia many times. I think you are correct. The soto contract may be too high for Phillies to do with all the moves they have to make. I think the 11-year Trea Turner contract hurt the Phillies a bit. Trea Turner is a good player but Trea Turner is not the great number 2 man to Bryce Harper like Soto with Judge on the Yankees.
Philadelphia has never been a destination for latin Players. Doesn't amount to the rich history of yankees, dodgers, or Red Sox. Unfortunate truth when it comes to baseball in this city.
