I would say Mormonism actually makes the opposite mistake that Gnosticism does. The Gnostics got so obsessed with the spirit that they essentially abandoned the created world and the real resurrection of the dead while the Mormons got so caught up in the exaltation of flesh that they could no longer conceive of God in their true omnipotent nature and found themselves effectively going back to polytheism because the Trinity no longer made sense.

Those who receive exaltation in the celestial kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ will receive special blessings. The Lord has promised, "All things are theirs" (D&C 76:59). These are some of the blessings given to exalted people: 1. They will live eternally in the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (see D&C 76). *2. THEY WILL BECOME GODS.* 3. They will have their righteous family members with them and will be able to have spirit children also. These spirit children will have the same relationship to them as we do to our Heavenly Father. They will be an eternal family. 4. They will receive a fulness of joy. 5. They will have everything that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have--all power, glory, dominion, and knowledge. President Joseph Fielding Smith [10th Mormon prophet] wrote: "The Father has promised through the Son that all that he has shall be given to those who are obedient to his commandments.  To be exalted, we first must place our faith in Jesus Christ and then endure in that faith to the end of our lives. Our faith in him must be such that we repent of our sins and obey his commandments.

He commands us all to receive certain ordinances: 1. We must be baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. 2. We must receive the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 3. We must receive the temple endowment. 4. We must be married for time and eternity. In addition to receiving the required ordinances, the Lord commands all of us to-- 1. Love and worship God. 2. Love our neighbor. 3. Repent of our wrongdoings. [See Ch.19 about the seven steps required for repentance.] 4. Live the law of chastity. 5. Pay honest tithes and offerings. @kjvjay Right, i've read the King Follet discourse, and if you read the entire thing, it's very clearly saying that God the Father obtained a body the same as Jesus Christ. In one of the quotes you listed as well, it says, "God the father was a man like us, dwelt on an earth, *the same as Jesus Christ*" and if you read the entire discourse it even explains the origins of God the Father stating that he is self-existent and created a way for us to advance like himself. So, like Jesus Christ, was the God of the Old Testament before condescending to man and resurrecting, God the Father is the supreme being and most high God before at one point condescending into man obtaining a physical body and resurrecting into a perfected body. The entire purpose of the King Follet discourse was a funeral speech comforting those grieving the death of King Follet and so Joseph talks about how even God the Father when he was a man died and resurrected much like his son Jesus Christ.

The Mormon' so-called restored gospel is an endless To-Do-List of requirements mandated by them including paying 10% of your total income, so you can get a Temple Recommend from a Mormon bishop, so you may participate in a Temple Endowment Rituals, perform baptism of the dead rituals, which includes, giving Masonic type handshakes, saying secret passwords, wearing underwear with sewn in Masonic symbols, and do much more. All so you possibly, maybe, perhaps, have eternal life, becoming a Mormon polygamist exalted man god or his goddess wife. Where as the Bible and Christian message is to have forgiveness of sin and God’s gift of eternal life in the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is through faith and trust in Jesus Christ only and not through any church. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23) “For the wages of sin is death; but THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST our Lord” (Romans 6:23) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is *the gift of God:* Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2: 8-9) Jesus said, “…know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
