    I’ve taken less than 1200 calories a day for months and didn’t lose weight once I plateau’d. I really damaged my metabolism. Refeeding and eating more really helped me lose weight. The idea of these people simply not tracking correctly is just dumb

    • @fallentreesloth9362

      You were not eating 1200 caloires/day for months. You don't know how to track calories, you're not special. Not trying to be blunt, but those are facts.

  • @fallentreesloth9362

    I watched this thinking it would answer a question no other video seems to answer and all it's done is make me feel blamed. I'll give background so you can see what I mean. I was 225 and needed to lose weight so I can be alive in the future for my son. I'm 39 and 5'3 so I obese. I didn't real move more than 10 meters a days for the last few years due to back issue which are all fixed now. I started counting calories 4 week ago and cut down to 1200 which I know is low but I'm super committed. I replaced my diet with and count every, weight everything and round up if anything. In the first two weeks I lost 15pounds but the last two I've lost nothing. I have started walking for the first time in a year tho so wanted to find a video to see if it was cos I was using a bunch of musclesthat haven't been used. I'm also ovulating at the same time. I know 100% that I count every that goes in my mouth. I have to do this for my son so there is no way I'd mess that part up. Then I find your video and all you say is that it must be because I'm not tracking right or lying to myself. I can 100% assure you I'm not and videos like this make me feel so disheartened. Can either of you even consider that someone is truly tracking and hasn't lost weight for a few weeks for any other reason.

    • @fallentreesloth9362

      Update: Woke up and magically lost 3 pounds without changing a thing. Then this morning woke up and lost another 1/2 pound. Possibly was water or hormones due to my age sooooooooo you were wrong. The reason I'm so mad is what your saying is dangerous. You could of pushed someone like me to cut then more. You could push someone to an eating disorder.

      @@fallentreesloth9362 Hey, Jaymie here by the way - First off just want to say great work!! Starting is by far the hardest part and it seems you've got some big motivates with your son and overall health 👏 1,200 calories for most can be too low at times but if you've managed to lose weight and as your 2nd reply lose more weight that's a great sign that you're in a calorie deficit 📉 Many things can cause your weight to spike or make it look like you're not losing weight such as: - Poor Sleep - Your cycle - Stress - If you've not been the toilet - When you ate your last meal - Hydration levels I've used your height & weight on our calorie calculator and from the Harris-Benedict Equation and you should be losing an AVG of 1.5lbs per week on 1,200 calories - However, weight-loss is rarely linear - if you take a look at - instagram.com/bodysmartfitness/ - we share all our clients weight loss graphs and you'll see their weight constantly spikes away but the trend over the months is one that's going down. Same for you!! You've had what's felt like a small plateau but when you zoom out and look at the trending you're losing weight 📉 Would love to chat and see how we could help more too by the way - feel free to drop me a DM on Instagram @jaymiemoran and let me know it you 🙏 And more...

      @@BodySmartPodcast Don't have Instagram, I'm too old and to busy for it now for it. Everything you just put in your message could do with being in your answer. If you leave that stuff out then anyone watching with the same kind of issues will just feel blamed and could lead to drastic measures. You can't just jump to the conclusion that they are counting wrong. From another video I found out it could of been all kinds of things. One doctor said it could of been from eating such salty food. What you say can't been one size fits all and you need to let people know that. I bet you'll get alot of backlash from your video as it isn't accurate for everyone. Even more so when you are both saying you are professional, you have a responsibility to be accurate. If you ment over a long period of time you need to say that but in your video you said a week or two. Saying weight again from exercise probably isn't muscle is right but you left out that you can retain water from swelling if you've over done it. All the little things like that would be more helpful and far less disheartening. A video on what could make your weight fluctuate would be idea. I'll be quite now but hopefully you get the point I was trying make. I'm not best at explaining things.

      A calorie is a unit of heat energy. Saying a calorie isn't a calorie sounds like 1 mile, but it isn't 1 mile. Now, if you run the 1 mile on a flat terrain vs up a hill, the energy you expend would be very different. But it's still 1 mile in distance! How that calorie is digested, metabolised, and used by the body will depend on the context of the food. But a calorie... is still a calorie.

    What do you mean by there is no evidence that low carb will help to lose fat? There are lots of studies demonstrating that the subjects eating a low carbs diet lose more fat than their counterparts eating a high carb low fat diet. This only show how addictive you are to carbs. I have been doing keto low carbs for the past 6 years, I don't miss carbs a single bit so it's untrue you said eventually people have to go back eating carbs, no not at all. And it annoying when people keep confusing between low carbs and therefore low calories. This is ridiculous, as the truth is opposite. My diet is low carbs but high in energy because it has lots of animal fat. My belly has been shrunk so much since I cut out the carbs, andcif anyone understand to care about the visceral fat then they do want to cut out or keep their carb low. At 51, perimenopausal, my belly fat especially visceral fat is lower than it in people 10-15 year younger than me. How do I know, watch dr. Saun O'Mara to do the simple test to find out, also to learn more about the connection between carbs and visceral fat. I will stick to low carbs as what I learn and see strongly support it. But I just have to comment because I can't stand carb addicts trying to defend for their addiction and give people bad advices.

    • @BodySmartPodcast
      @BodySmartPodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Mary, glad to hear that low carb is doing your body well! And we always say the diet that works best for you is the one you can stick to consistently. For many, cutting out a food group completely is not sustainable and leads to a yo-yo pattern of dieting. We have yet to see evidence that a high protein- low carb diet outperforms a diet that prioritises protein but includes carbs and fats when both are in a calorie deficit. If you have any alternative studies we would love to take a look as we are always happy to expand out thinking!

    Great discussion! I am from Texas and grew up in the 70's and 80's. Both of my parents worked, yet they always cooked homemade meals for us 5 kids. I LOVED it! They mainly used the old Betty Crocker cookbook, so lots of casseroles, etc... My mom was a talented baker and she often made homemade cookies, cakes, and the best meringue pies. We all stayed thin for the most part. I think it's because my parents were very economical with their food buying choices. It was a very rare treat for them to buy us packaged snack, soda, or fast food. It wasn't until the 90's when I noticed my dad was buying lots of chips and sodas...even the diet sodas. This happened because my bargain-shopping parents continued to bargain shop! Have y'all notice how fresh food became more expensive and junk food got very cheap? Also, have you ever noticed if you watch movies from 1982 or older, most of the actors are naturally thin? Then, if you see movies from '83 onward, everyone's rather bloated? That's something more than diet alone, is my theory. So, unfortunately, later my dad passed away from cardio related dementia and then my mother from Parkinson's both, at 79. It has made me question the foods we've eaten all these decades...reexamining the food pyramid, processed oils, grains, etc... My sisters and I have mostly suffered from eating disorders in the 90's (trying to eat "healthy") to later even more food-related allergies in our mid-life years. I've found myself eliminating a lot of foods just to not get gut or sinus issues. I've found that eating beef and liver hits the spot and doesn't make me feel ill. Yay! However, I don't believe I should only eat those things, ultimately. I continue to look at the bigger picture, or the proverbial "man behind the curtain". Just thinking....

    This is amazing and successfully experienced by myself. Im 53 years old and have been running long distance for more than 10 years , but I decided to incorporate weightlifting 3 years ago after I had a total hysterectomy, I never stopped cardio and running , but took strength training seriously. I have never felt this strong and active , the highlight if this life style is the results of my last bone density test, my number was similar to women in mid thirty.. this made me commit to my training even more . It’s a life style, not necessarily to live longer, but to live stronger and self sufficient mywhole life hopefully 👌❤️thank you for this inspiring video

      Thank you so much for sharing, and we are glad to hear that you are feeling so strong and active! What does a week of training typically look like for you?

      @@BodySmartPodcast 2 days strength training/ 3 days of running and hiit sessions+ swimming / 1 day mobility .. I do my best to rest once aweek 😬😬 Im an ultra runner, so this whole plan changes 3 months before a race : more running , less of everything else . I also always have short term goals , like being able to do a certain number of consecutive pullups or staying in my plank longer and so on .. 5-7 am is my sacred training time , won’t trade that for anything else

    you cant simply start exercising and lifting weight and end up looking like this lady lol even a lot of men dont have arms like hers guaranteed shes on some steroids, and esp after 50, its impossible for a woman. The main issue for ppl with long term fat issues is because of inflammation which is caused by eating the wrong foods. So much lack of information, disinformation and misinformation in this area.

      I have arms like hers and I am 42 year old female who eats right, trains right. It is not impossible to gain arms when you have low body weight. She may have small glutes and completely different lower body (she also may have amazing lower gains) but this is not steroid gains. You’re either jealous or not educated

      There’s nothing wrong with that. We all age-the key is to hold onto your strength, and she’s doing a great job.

    I would love to go to the gym but I'm put off because I don't know what to do or where to start. The classes are intimidating because they seem to be for people who are already fit and in shape. I currently do walking and try and do little work outs at home.

      Everyone has to start somewhere & honestly I love to see new starters and most gym goers are happy to help/give advice. It is a good place to meet people, clear your head and generally good to get out of the house!

    How does this work for people with osteoarthritis? I just got diagnosed. I have pain in my knees and find it hard to get up and down from the floor. I also have it in my hands. I can imagine lifting weights involves holding heavy weights.

    • @PeaceIsYeshua
      @PeaceIsYeshua หลายเดือนก่อน

      @treelore, consider the Isomax or just do plain overcoming isometrics exercises without equipment-they also stimulate the central nervous system the same way heavy lifting does, they build strong bones, and it’s much, much easier on joints, tendons, etc. ❤❤

      You can start very light. You can even use bands rather than weights.
