Can You Make The Bear More Perfect? We Tried.
Finding ways to make The Bear (from FX on Hulu) even better was quite the "bear" for us. So sit back, grab some apple cider gastrique, and watch us fumble our way through the only nitpicks we could find about this nearly perfect show. Can we get a "Yes, chef?" We'll settle for "Yes, Jeff!"

    I've always felt like BTTF 2&3 retconned the way time worked. Let's say that it altered the past thus making the original '85 from the start of the movie nullified.

    The reason for Marty still being a hot head in 2015 is that all the positive lessons he learned in 1955 were essentially wiped out by the aftermath of the Rolls Royce incident. You did touch on this, but I think the reason it is difficult for some to come to understand is that the parts of the original story/script that involved Jennifer's sub-plot had to be cut down dramatically. I believe there is video out there where the Bob's (Zemekis and Gale) talk about how the original story was much different from the end movies leaving plot points like this one often lacking in the final cut. Trauma can have very serious effects on a person, both for the positive and the negative. Remember, Bob Gale stated, there never was going to be a BTTF II or III, and the "To be continued?" was not there to indicate any sequels were coming but more a metaphoric ending given the theme of the movie, time is what you make of it and things can change in ways you don't expect so be able to change with the times. In interviews, the Bob's discuss how they had to come back and fill in the blanks of the story, change it, etc. years after BTTF had already been released because they didn't believe there would be a sequel(s).l Even the best writer can find themselves written into the perverbeal corner and have to rely on a bit of artistic freedom, and the expectation that an audience is willing to suspend their understanding of reality/story continuity/etc. for the sake of the story/movie itself. In other words, people go into movies knowing that it is "fake" so therefore not everything is going to follow the laws of nature/science/physics/logic/etc. Writers use this human behavior to their advantage and thus are born these incontinuities that have created what must now be a billion dollar armchair film expert industry. But I digress. It makes sense that Marty didn't become that "ideal Marty" after waking up in bed the next day after returning to 1985. First, he would still be in an odd mental state given everything that happened to him over the last week +. I would argue it is equal to him having been on a week long mind altering drug binge or some scizophrenic-esk episode/symptom flare. Remember that he repeatedly says "it was all a dream" in the trilogy, elluding to Marty not being able to fully process the surreal events he experiences along his journey. This would likely include him not being able to fully and consistently integrate any "lessons learned" into his character fully and consistently either, thus he still succumbs to Needles taunts the day after he awakens from returning from 1955. On top of all this, he is just a teenager! As smart as Marty is, he still has teenage hormones and a teenage mind, so it is not hard to believe he is still making at least some bad choices even just hours after nearly dying several times.

    • @OurOnlyThing
      @OurOnlyThing 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for such a well-thought out and compelling response. Your Rolls Royce explanation validates why Marty would still be so susceptible to "chicken," and we love your theory on why he wasn't "ideal Marty" in alternate 1985. Thanks again for taking the time to write out such a logical explanation.

    This was, is, and always shall be one of the best and most important episodes of THE TWILIGHT ZONE for me. I still think it's one of the bravest performances by George Takei (I hope I'm spelling his last name right). First time I saw this episode I thought it was so unfair. Felt so bad for Beamis. The Twilight Zone usually had endings where bad people were punished. I thought Beamis was an innocent. so I though the ending was odd. As I got older I realized what the moral of the story was. It's a cautionary tale warning not to put other things above human interactions. Beamis has NO REACTION to the fact that BILLIONS of people are dead. A normal person would be overwhelmed with grief if only a fraction of the people they knew died suddenly. Remember 911? Beamis didn't care that 911 multiplied by millions had just happened because HE got to read. It is his complete lack of empathy for his fellow man that he is being punished for.

    • @OurOnlyThing
      @OurOnlyThing หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a really powerful analysis, @jacquelinecallejas1390. It's quite refreshing to hear your take because it is very odd that Beamis didn't react to the world around him. In our other video, grace also discussed how Beamis' wife, Helen, may not be the villain we all thought. She may have been broken from Henry's neglect and just fought back the only way she knew how. It doesn't make her actions right, but it gives you more perspective into her situation.
