Why Bunafr: Words from our Founder and CEO
มุมมอง 3Kปีที่แล้ว
As a Founder of Bunafr Coffee, I have been asked several times, what led me to start Bunafr. Here is an explanation. Bunafr (pronounced boon-uh-fur) is two words; boona & fir. In the Ethiopian Amharic language, boona means coffee & fir means fruit. Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee. This name aligns with our vision of democratizing coffee roasting and bringing coffee farmers close...

Amazing and very helpful video. I want to thank you for this great tutorial, since it helped me with the roasting process without spending much money.
Absolutely, we're glad it helped!
How do you clean the roadting chamber?
What does the dial do? How can it be operated without app/offline... Please explain, didn't find any information on that on your webpage or TH-cam

Can you record and save a custom roasting session to rerun? And if so, does this app work with other roasting apps used for larger scaled roasting?
Coffee
Hello from Costa Rica.
Hi there, welcome to our community!
Tanner Colson......
Get a life 😂
Is the 45% VIP still valid? How do you get access to this? I would like to buy a unit in 2024, I’m UK based
Hi there, Unfortunately, this is not available.
If you can not drink it freshly roasted whats the point of roasting it yourself? (This is a real question im actually curious)
Hi there, that's a great question! Drinking freshly roasted coffee is always the first reason to roast coffee yourself, although it's accompanied by plenty of other advantages. Storing roasted coffee is fine for up to 8 days but it starts losing flavor soon after. Meanwhile, raw green coffee is far easier to store and gives you the freedom to roast your coffee on demand. It allows for more control over the roast profile and enables you to find your ideal coffee. The world of green coffee is vast and fun to explore, and the difference in their unique flavor profiles & characteristics is apparent with each new single-origin coffee you experience. Also, purchasing your green coffee from a reputable source supports the farmers and ensures that they receive their fair share. Hope this helps you become a next level coffee lover!
I recognize this set up from somewhere else 😏
Can someone tell how much all those devices cost?
$1,499.00
Is it not too acid after consuming it that freshly roasted?
Indeed, we always recommend waiting a few hours before using your freshly roasted coffee.
That is daaaaaark. Not much point putting nice green beans in there as all you'll taste is toasty roasty
Im in the rabbiy hole deep but.... i cannot help but wonder whos winning with all this merchandise? Aswell as everything is so expensive
Was about to pre order until i saw 1.5k
Didnt fancy a nespresso then?
Why don't you guz start from farming beans?
We partner with several farms from across the world. All of our producer partners go through a vetting process for their coffees and practices before being featured in our marketplace.
There’s so much going on, it’s a little obnoxious 🤣
Bro you cant drink freshly roasted, you have to let it rest mann!!!
I think he's more than capable of knowing this.
Haha it looks like he's spent a few quid on that setup. I'd hope he would know that already or his butler does.
💯
Hope they finally ship soon, the wait is killin me!
Loved learning about Bunafr at CES. New forever fan!
Thanks for dropping by Sarah! Loved having you there. ☕
Yeah it is an Indian. 🤮I’m out of here
Is it fu*ken Indian product??? Because they don’t mention it on their dumb website.
mmmmm.....
It is only for subscription to buy beans also!? I would be interested for the machine only.
Hi there, you can get our roaster and still have full control over your roast.
Excellent video, comprehensive and well presented. Many thanks
Such a confused message. First sell the coffee roasting excellence of the product. Don’t sell questionable environmental benefits that this delivers.
The coffee industry is vast and full of intricacies that play important roles in the farm to cup journey of your coffee. To roast coffee at home, we need a revised coffee ecosystem, and it is ripe with opportunities to reduce the coffee industry's environmental impact. We inherently talk about benefits to the environment, farmers, consumers, and enthusiasts because all these moving parts are intertwined, overlapped, and co-dependent. We talk about this to bring attention to the same, we work towards improving the ecosystem, and we hope you join us in our journey to achieving this.
How much is this?
Looks like this $1500 ; got to get it below $1k
Is this still coming out
Yes, we're on track!
Hello, are you able to roast enough green beans when the roasted beans will amount to 200g or 250g? This is the weight of roasted beans I'm asking, not green beans
Yes, the weight of the roasted beans can be well over 200g.
can it be 250g? @@bunafr6168
what is the max amount of green beans that can fit in the roaster@@bunafr6168
How many grams can be toasted?
I'm so excited and cannot wait to get this roaster
Do you have to use green beans from Bunafr? And is there a subscription for the app?
You can use any green coffee beans but the ones from Bunafr can be scanned and it loads a roast profile recommended for that particular bean
This is some soulless MBA stuff.
Is there a chaff collection chamber?
Yes, there is a chaff collection chamber. Please see these videos: th-cam.com/video/qd0vurkReiM/w-d-xo.html instagram.com/reel/CtNXcOiLO9H/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Love this! It’s how I started roasting coffee. I’m keeping an eye on your Bunafr roaster! Also, probably good to use a popcorn popper with the vents on the sides of the inner chamber versus the one big vent in the middle.
Is your roaster available in 220v for other parts of the world? Not seeing the option available on your website hence asking here. Thanks.
Yes, it is available in 220V.
I have the idea long time ago, but you execute it and I love you for that. Thank you though
Why you didn’t go to the WOC in Athens to present your roaster ?
He did at SCA Portland
Amicalement.
I waiting for shipment 🚚
Great video! I noticed that you are weighing your beans on a separate scale. Is the integrated scale, as described in the Indiegogo campaign, still in development or has that feature been dropped?
Hello Steve, Thank you! We are still evaluating the integrated scale feature. It is proving to be a time consuming feature. Given that and given it is not a must have feature it might be dropped in the interest of delivering the product sooner than later. That being said, variable batch size feature will still be available with the help of the app. On the app there will be an option to chose the batch size, which will enable a perfect roast profile for different batch sizes. We will confirm on this and provide more information on this soon.
@@bunafr6168 Speaking for myself, the integrated scale feature falls into the category of 'it would be really cool to have but not worth holding up the development and shipping of an optimized, finalized product". If it turns out the feature is something that can be made available relatively easily in the future (e.g., through a simple hardware/software upgrade), then I would hope the feature would be made available to those who already own the roaster. The 'perfect roast profile for different batch sizes' feature, on the other hand, is quite important and I'm glad to hear that this feature will be implemented.
@@stevebrandt3645 - Thank you for understanding and yes the perfect roast profile for any batch size is a must have and we are providing this through the app. We also know that most, if not all of the backers will be using app primarily hence for them choosing the batch size initially is part of the workflow. Of course we are still trying to make this feature available through simple upgrade in the future.
I am curious, why was the sound replaced? I'm very interested in this roaster. I'm a home roasting enthusiast, and on paper it's ideal for me in terms of batch size, form factor, features, and cost. I've see 3 different videos now, a couple from the recent Portland expo and this one but I can't hear first crack in any of them, @bunafr can you put my fears to rest here?
NO SOUND NO NOTHING USELESS
What grinder are you using
Would you mind sharing information such as the roasting percentage during dry-in, mallard, and development phases? Also, has production started, and are you guys still on track for May 2023 delivery? Still can't believe we're getting this level of uniformity at a price point well under other roasters that can handle over 200 grams of beans consistently.
The % of roasting time at each phase is different for different beans. We will share that in the future videos. We are evaluating the project timelines and we will update soon if there are changes to it. Thank you for your comment and recognition on the uniformity of roasting.
Does it have a cool down phase at the end?
Yes, towards the end there is a cooling phase also shown in the video.
@@bunafr6168 hi, the rods are heated. will having them in the cooling phase affect the cooling negatively?
