The Palm House is a large glasshouse which was completed in 1840, to provide an environment where tropical and local plants could be displayed year round. It is situated in Botanic Gardens in Belfast which was first opened to the public in 1895 as a public park.

Lagan Meadows is natural forest and heath that borders the River Lagan in Belfast. It is uncultivated and creates a natural home for a large variety of wildlife. Species reported include herons and many other birds, foxes, badgers, wildflowers, and many varieties of deciduous trees, It can be reached from the Lagan Towpath.
