The 2018 Harley Road King is one of my favorite bikes - even if I didn't own one myself. The classic lines and non-nonsense nature of it makes distraction-free cruising a joy.
2021 Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE - Stellar midrange tourer you HAVE to check out.
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The Kawasaki Versys is a great bike. Over the last 10 years, this and others like it, have slowly replaced the ST kinds of bikes (think Yamaha FJ1300). Are they a good replacement? Take a look and decide for yourself.

    Bro I'm looking to go from my 06 goldwing to an fjr 1300... seating position on the GW hurts my butt and lower back after 2 hours, you can't put pressure on your legs to take some weight off. Was more comfy on my 16 ninja 300 doing a 12+ hour day on M22 from GR and back

    It's a great all-around bike. Commuting in town is great because it has large bags for backpack or groceries AND has nice weather protection. Traveling is nice because it;s comfortable and stable and burn regular 87 gas. Honestly it's been the go-to bike of the ones I own for 95% of my riding.

    I’m 5’10’ and the stock windscreen isn’t great. Otherwise it’s great & smooth . I’m running it in now & haven’t hit 1000km. At 5000 rpm there is a buzz under my seat , but it’s slowly disappearing. The sweet spot is between 1-4K & above 6k. Side panniers swallow a full face helmet. I’ve had a Diavel , Gs & Busa 2022. This is better than those bikes , except the Busa which has better wind management & stable as a truck at high speed.

    I ride about 100 miles a day to work and back (9k miles on my R3 in 90 days). I ride some twisties, some long swoopy curves, and some traffic as part of my daily commute. I’m thinking this will be a good option for me. Hoping to get a Gen I w ABS in a few weeks.

    I had a 2005 Honda ST1300 for one summer. I was not totally comfortable with it. The bike had an aftermarket windscreen and it was not a pleasure at speeds of 70 mph. My body did not accept the riding position well- so I sold it. I then purchased a 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300, with hopes it was a better highway bike and easier on the body. After 1 summer or 4000 miles, I can honestly say, this bike works for me. I realize any bike’s feel is completely subjective but this bike worked out for me.

    The 1st motorcycle I rode was in the 1st military service during the Cold War. A 125 CC Hercules, used for Scouting and as a messenger. I stopped riding for over a decade, and after my return from Iraq (in my 2 military service) in 2004 I started riding from therapeutic reasons. I a Buell Lighting, but because of my injuries I couldn't handle being bent over for any amount of time. So I switched to a HD Road Glide, but that was to ponderous for my style of riding. My next bike was a Councourse, loved it (until I totaled it coming home from work at 0300 in the when a stray dog ran into the highway). The Honda ST1300 replaced it, which I rode until I moved away from Colorado to MS. Now I ride a 2016 FJR 1300 ES. This bike is hands down my favorite to date. It has the right balance of power, gadgets, gears, bags. Don't have the top case, but it did come with a removable sissy-bar where I can tie down a go bag.

    I am currently broke, but need transportation. My wife and I share a car, but that's becoming cumbersome. So, I thought about buying a year 2000+ road king that's worn out, and rebuilding it. I am a decent mechanic, how hard are Harleys to work on? I will have a lift and table, full set of tools and garage space indoors.

    Just saw this, so coming in late. Current stable is a 2018 DCT Tour, BMW K1600 GTL and a Harley Road King. I agree with most of your comments. I also have a Corbin seat, a Klok Werks Flare windscreen, and some safety lighting upgrades. Slow speed parking lot stuff is good once I got used to not feathering a clutch, but it does lurch sometimes in Tour mode. Trunk size doesn’t concern me - K1600 is about the same. Harley tour packs are huge by comparison. Just got back from an overnighter in Colorado to ride the Million Dollar hiway and the canyon carving in sport mode was fantastic for a big bike. Low COG helps. Pegs will scrape, but it’s totally superior to bikes like Harley touring models. No complaints about the suspension. Just a great, fun bike to ride.

    2019 I rode a Heritage classic 107 with LED lights from LA to NY in 12 days along the most of the Lincoln Highway. Perfect bike for the job. I loved it so much I bought one last year. I'm 65 5'6 with sore old legs the Heritage is my perfect bike for touring or going to the supermarket.

  • @jerrymulcahy4254
    @jerrymulcahy4254 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The 22 Heritage HAS LED lights on the front, it is only 100# lighter than a Road king, you make it sound like it weighs 250#, weight of an ultra Ltd is about 910#, and lastly the suspension you are whining about has been praised by just about every real rider’s opinion. I have a SGS and a RGS and frankly when I rode a friends 22 Heritage I was really impressed. Spending a few bucks on slipons, a seat, LED turn signals is not a big deal but when you say you’d drop five grand in a Heritage I have to call BULL SHIT on that, oh hell I’ll just call BULL SHIT on this none educated video

    Like, I’ve had many bikes. Having owned 4 wings, two last gen, a 2018 DCT, and now a 23 six speed, the 23 is hands down the best of all worlds. The new six speed is much better than the old five speed and my personal preference is to have a manual over the DCT. Ride safe, have fun!

    You won't get an argument out of me about it being the best sport tourer. I'm 63 years old and this is my eleventh motorcycle. I have a 2013 FJR1300a. I bought it slightly used in late 2013. It had 2832 miles on it. I now have recently turned over 73,000 miles. In that time I've take three multi-day trips ranging from over 5700 miles to nearly 8000 miles. I've had three sport touring cycles, which includes two different Yamaha FJ1200's and a BMW K1100. By far the best one has been my FJR. I started out by installing HELI-BAR bar risers, a Sargeant Saddle, the taller Yamaha windshield, and a GIVI top box. I've ridden this bike over 700 miles in a day several times, and once even rode 952 miles in a day. Now at the age of 63, the trip I started in mid August and completed near the end of September this year, my longest single day was close to 500 miles. Normally I'll ride about 150 miles before stopping to refill, although that's not the range. I can get about 210 miles on a tank of gas, but 150 miles is a good point at which to stretch my legs, and hydrate myself. A very comfortable machine with little to no vibration a great mid range strong powerband that suits it's sport touring character and the space to carry enough for a multi-day trip and even camping. If you're planning on taking your spouse, I'd say no, unless it's just a few hours to ride to say a camp ground for the weekend. For me though, when I load up and put my noise canceling ear buds in, and have audio entertainment, I can travel long distances with very little fatigue, in good weather. I haven regretted a moment of my travels on my FJR. Not even last month when traveling through Kansas when it was 105 degrees. The bike made even that bareable.

    I've had my 2015 since it was new and mostly love it. Hate I missed out on the slipper clutch and 6th gear but what ya gonna do? As a shorter rider [5'7"] I do have to use a less than comfortable Corbin seat to sit a bit lower but it's a great all-around touring bike. I live in Georgia and have taken mine to Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama without issue. Thanks for the review.

    I have this same bike, albeit in a black 114, and it's my pride and joy. Never found another bike that fits me as perfect as it does and is a great commuter and for short touring. I added a tour pack on the back and between it and the saddlebags I have plenty of storage. I don't think I'll ever upgrade to a full blown touring model until I'm retired and able to really take a lot of trips across different states often (probably 20 more years to go until that happens).
