Cowboy Survival
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 เม.ย. 2020
I am Richard @CowboySurvival. I am a guy with a lot of life experience and an interest in being prepared for unexpected events.
In March 2020, tornados hit a neighborhood less than 2 miles from my home, killing 19 people, including a close friend of mine. If that had been my neighborhood, I would have been totally unprepared to assist my neighbors during the time we would have waited for the emergency response teams.
When you prepare, whether it is a Go Bag, a Get Home Bag, or even a Home Fire Evacuation Plan, you will greatly enhance your family's chance of survival. Being prepared is always better than not being prepared, and it can be amazingly affordable and simple.
I hold a PhD in Business and have a lifetime of experience in the outdoors. My goal is to share what I have learned about life to an audience that also believes that true survival must address the mind and soul, as well as the body. My motto . . . Be Prepared!

I built a FLOORED Tarp Shelter in Minutes and you can too!. It is really easy and can be done without having to set up a ridge line. Just my take but taping the blade would be extra careful. Good times watching you and some cool ideas.😊
I have both the white and the new version. Love them both.
the brass and staglon lockback opens one handed too
Not gonna lie... Got bored mid video... But the info is great! Imma use this cook kit to steam veggies with this hack.
I call it the punisher 😂😂😂 I own three of the first edition 😊
Why "punisher"?
@@CowboySurvival punishes benchmade 😂
@ ahhh..... I am old and it takes me a moment! lol!
@@CowboySurvival you're not so old and I'm also slow when it comes to jokes 😂
Wuhan knife....hard pass. Buy American.
Great looking knife. Good job, have you thought about doing a case harden coloring with cold bluing or copper sulfate copper case coloring?
Wish it were a flipper.
The Ozark Trail green $5 flipper is pretty good, though it also has a stainless steel blade. I have a video coming out on Wednesday on the Barrysail OD Green flipper. It is D2 and seems to be pretty solid and is available from Amazon for only about $15.
Should clean your bench every year whether it needs it or not
Shop vac under the bench is for display purposes only!
May be good advice, but I am not sure what you mean? Could you be more specific?
If anyone trying to gift me a ozark trail folder because my Walmart does not carry them anymore
I bought 3 of the orange knives but the quality is pretty poor, yeah they were only $7.74 each lol! Gave 2 away as gifts and kept one to open boxes. Honestly I'd rather spend $30-$50 on a better quality D2 steel blade with G10 scales.
I vote for doing BOTH! 😁
The bottom line for any knife is the quality of steel the blade is made from. Chinesium is Chinesium and just doesn't cut the mustard. That being said, for a $10 knife, it makes a good pocket knife. I wouldn't bet my life on it in a survival situation though... unless the choice was Chinesium or no knife at all.
I agree with your comments, but having some of these is just so much fun. I also enjoy the "hunt"!
You have an unorthodox view compared to many survival/prepper sites, and one I appreciate. I've owned high-end knives, and lower-end knives. Almost exclusively I will carry an affordable hardware store special, and have never been disappointed. I know what a knife is, and don't expect more from it; nor do I blame my tools for any inadequacies on my part. From flint and obsidian through early clasp knives to Barlows and Bucks, previous generations knew how to, and not how to, use a knife. If made from acceptable materials, there's no reason it can't be serviceable. Snobs will always complain rather than improve skills. I have found myself in situations where a burner/throwaway knife was ideal. An example being when tsa didn't allow a knife and I would purchase an affordable user at my destination. If it cuts, holds an edge, and stays together, it's a knife. It's not for hammering on or with, or used for prying. There's also no shame in working within your budget if need be.
I wouldn't let my life depend on either
I've never handled either one of those knives and probably never will.... But I feel fairly confident in saying you get what you pay for. Though with that saying.... If either one of these knives open the world of folding pocket knives to a future enthusiast. I say go for it. Could be a perfect stocking stuffer for a responsible youngster. Will the stern reminder that nowadays schools are not the place for an EDC ( every day carry)!
You lost me at Ozark Trial and wal-mart. Both are utter crap.
Money out your ass hey
Money out of your ass hey
Both available online. The better value is the 3 piece 8" full tang fixed blade set made from 3Cr13 Stainless with pakkawood handles for 15 bucks.
It's all about the d 2
@@boboyoyo414 Not really. D2 rusts. Even after heat treat, and 3Cr holds a tougher edge. Toolmaker by trade.
When I looked on December 19, it was out of stock on the app. The app says that it also comes in Black and OD Green, but I have never actually seen those colors in the stores OR online.
I was at Walmart yesterday and saw both knives in stock. I even saw the green one you mentioned. The ortone wasn’t in the Christmas display but it was in a locked glass case. There was no one working in that department when I was there but if you went earlier in the day you could have asked to get one. I may go back just because they are such a hot item and I can say I got one. I may even go get the white one as well and just play around with it. I have yet to disassemble a crossbar lock knife so that might be fun. At least if I mess it up somehow it will only be a $5 mistake.
@@texyat7388 that's the spirit! HAVE FUN! Life is too short to be serious ALL the time!
I'm gonna search for the orange one!
Yeah I think I would be using another screw or pin in addition to the adhesive!!! Etching the blade is a complete waste of effort with the crap blade metal.
It is not a waste of time of you view this as (a) learning as a first-timer or (b) using this blade to practice a new technique. And the by-product was a pretty cool outcome. So, for me it was not a waste of time as I got to practice with a very inexpensive piece of metal.
Oh yes there are so many in the survivalist mode . Just trying to survive the mornig commute into the city has become a matter of life and death in this country.
Rambo.
Fantastic way of doing it..🫡
Why didn’t use the set screw and the JB weld? Both would have made the bond even stronger, no?
@@cliffordstarkey I did. I guess I didn't make that clear in the video. My apologies.
no respect for the tarp and just walks over it.
There are better fully enclosed versions of this all over the internet. G@@gle fully enclosed tarp tent with a floor.
The only think I really like to do with these "Rambo" style survival knives with hollow handles for storing things was hafting them onto shafts and making spears out of them.
Check back on Thursdays after the truck comes
Never seen that kind of setup before. And that looks like a real nice tarp.
very cool setup
Your awesome be safe out there
The knife is a tool for cutting, stabbing and chopping of soft tissues. Some silly people are trying to use the knife as the wood chisel and breaking the knifes. Good video

Really you don’t have a screwdriver have to watch you fiddle with the multi tool
What if you pay for those who have, but you go without
Hooah, Brother. 🇵🇷 Thank you.
my knife never had bit on blade rear either i got years ago.
i did a chemical fix to screw set on all these knives and add seal it if gaps leak water in handle. i also add bit grip cover on outside of handle and add second tie protection. stop it from 1 hold knife in sheath as not fighting knife.
How about putting an eyelet in the point of the sheath to run Paracord around your thigh to make it a little more sturdy for unsheathing the knife when worn on the belt?
It looks great. How durable are they? I would love to have seen the "JB Weld" portion of the video. What did you end up putting inside the handle?
Bull shit
Persistence pays off Like that brown 🤠
I bought one last year. They come really sharp. I wouldn't mind a few more of those.
Great vid and liked the etched blade. I packed the mini-tang with pro-poxy. Plumbers two part clay-like putty that cures hard as steel. It’s my beater knife and can’t believe I haven’t broken the blade.
Where did you get that olive cargo shirt at?
ii can tell by how you handle tools YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS...
@@THEVICTROLAGUY as I said at the start, this was my first time doing this kind of project. ...and I handle tools just fine, thank you, though you may be more an expert.....I do not claim to be one.
I will admit that I kept this multitool and put it in my regular toolbag. While it is not as good as my Gordon or my Gerber, I did get it out and used it while trimming the Christmas Tree. The wire cutters were used to cut an ornament hood which had become twisted beyond repair. I found the cutters to be less than optimal, but they got the job done. I still think this is a gimmicky item. Dewalt should stick to their excellent powertools!
Was at Walmart today and they had none of this.
@@eastonvonschist2283 may have sold out. I have also noticed that when the inventory gets low on these items, they take them out of the store.
