Watch Me Do Nutella Cannon Balls!
Looking for a fun new dessert recipe? I'm combining Chinese Mantou & Italian Bomboloni to create Nutella balls of sugary goodness that I'm calling "Mantolonis" (yum)
0:49 - Set a game plan.
0:56 - Prep ingredients.
2:08 - Make dough: all-purpose flour, cake flour, sugar, yeast, milk, olive oil.
2:56 - Mix dough for 10 minutes. Knead into a ball.
3:06 - Place in a large bowl covered in plastic wrap. Rest for 20 minutes.
3:21 - Flatten dough, trimming the uneven sides. Roll then cut into pieces.
4:55 - Flatten then stuff half your pieces with filling. Pinch to seal.
5:43 - Roll the other half of your pieces into balls. Bake on parchment paper, covered by a damp cloth, along with a dish of water for 15 min.
6:34 - Steam all dough pieces, then fry in oil.
8:23 - Remove dough pieces from frying oil once golden brown.
8:27 - Cover in sugar immediately after removing all from frying oil.
9:25 - Poke a hole into the center of each piece that isn't already filled.
9:31 - Pipe your filling into those unfilled pieces of dough.
9:39 - Abandon this project if you are diabetic...
10:26 - Dunk your newly made Mantolonis into a bowl of condensed milk.
10:43 - Dig in!
11:00 - Give yourself permission to make a mess...
11:43 - See more of my "Ciao Chow" dishes!
This is "Ciao Chow"!
In this series, I’m taking classic dishes from each of my cultures (Italian and Chinese) & mashing them up to create something totally new. Will it work? I don’t know! But I’m hoping this experimental cooking series will inspire you to take some risks in your cooking, too. Ciao Chow... (Get it now?)
