GKL┇USING FISHING LINE AS SIDEWALL STRINGS?
มุมมอง 18K6 ปีที่แล้ว
GKL┇USING FISHING LINE AS SIDEWALL STRINGS?
Looks awesome! 🙌 Can't wait!
You string to the inside so that the knots and loops dont make your top sidewall higher and also to allow your top sidewall to slide under your opponents top sidewall easier. It also prevents the knot lock up when your sidewall knots get stuck in your opponents sidewall. Been doing this for years.
I love the head, because it is resilient. But a good scraper with equal hand-speed can cause you a lot of problems while you are running it. My son is at a D1 school and he goes back and forth between this head, but his favorite is still the 2F. I prefer to use the Burn Recovery against him, because if I keep my hand action to a minimum and just shoot down the line I feel like it gives me an advantage to get under his sidewall. But if we tie up 50/50 and he gets a quick second angle, he just peels it right off the ball. Likewise, if he goes for a strong scrape and gets his sidewall under it and lifts, its pretty floppy. You got to go way down the line with the scrape or get a ridiculous angle to prevent the ball from popping out.
How long of a piece of cross lace do you use for the top string and sidewalls?
@@billyconway7662 The more the better, nothing is worse than cutting a piece of crosslace, stringing the head, and then towards the end the string is too short. I will cut a piece that is as long as the distance from my finger tips to my armpit. This gives me plenty of string to use, might be too much for some guys. I have shorter arms and it’s enough string for me.
Fantastic video, only 1 thing I'd change for newer stringers that helps... never white on white. Harder to follow for newer people. Great description though, very thorough. 10/10 🔥
@@kochlax Great point, next time we’ll have to use super contrasting colors to help show the knots better. Thank you for the feedback!!
@Gklplus nothing but love for you guys! But you already knew that..
Should i get the mark 2f or the weapon x 2.0
@@Phantom-___- Depends on a couple of things, what are you currently using?
at 8:27 i was thinking "this guy is a mad man!"
Will my pattern in the og fin the 2.0?
@@Laxandfishing Ehh maybe, there’s one less sidewall hole on the 2.0 at the bottom (where I had to do that quadruple knot) so depending on how you strung your OG it might work in the 2.0 or you might have to do something crazy like I did!
Are the sidewall holes relatively similar to the og? I have a pattern that I love on the og that I have been using
@@trevortrevor2413 there’s 1 less sidewall hole on the 2.0 down at the bottom of the sidewall, which explains the “intricate” knot. Depending on the pattern you used for your og it might work for the 2.0, but worst case scenario you might have to play around with it towards the bottom of the head.
best channel on yt
@@Parley-o2p Thank you!!
So you are using 4 diamonds pretty down low. Does this help get the ball deeper into the throat on faceoffs? Does it make the bottom lace less important because it will bag low regardless?
@@lp_6014 Great question! The ball 1000% sits deeper in the throat, which was what we were going for with this pattern. There’s nothing more frustrating than when a pocket is too shallow in the throat and makes it a struggle for us faceoff guys to comfortably cover the ball. The bottom lace technically is “less important” but I have mine pulled relatively tight so prevent the ball from sitting too low. With the ECD Hero 4.0 the pocket has more structure than expected and seems to reduce the potential of the pocket bagging super low.
This pattern is crazy. I need go buy a weapon x just to try this
@@lp_6014 It’s worth trying out!

What head and shaft do you recommend the most
@@Phantom-___- Great question! For shafts, we really enjoy the Savage X Titanium 7. It’s unbelievably affordable and is very nice quality. Tough to beat its price! For heads, it all depends on the player. Right now, we recommend the StringKing Mark 2F simply because its been the most popular head for years. It’s being used by almost everyone for a reason, not to say that these newer heads wont eventually replace the 2F, but until that happens the 2F is what we recommend for most players.
How do you feel about dying faceoff heads?
@@big1543 love it! Don’t notice much of a difference in the performance of the head. We think dying faceoff heads adds some creative seasoning to the position haha
Is this a traditional flex more then a face flex ?
@@He3sh5 We would say its smack dab in the middle. Where if you were to take a face flexing head like a CEO, but NOT make it face flex and made it a traditional flex this is very similar. Face flex is a very unique and “extreme” feel, so don’t expect to get that same feeling out of this head. It doesn’t feel like a super true traditional flex, nor a true face flex. It’s literally right in the middle.
Is the mark 2f something good to start with as someone who is just starting to learn faceoffs?
@@trevortrevor2413 Fantastic question! Most would agree that the Mark 2F is the end goal. It’s the most used head on the market for a reason. For someone who’s just now starting to learn s who doesn’t have any habits or mechanics fully developed yet, I would say it’s worth a shot trying. The “growing pains” that most guys experience with the 2F who’ve never used one before, are because they are coming from a head that doesn’t flex like a 2F (Burn FO, CEO, etc.) so yes they will naturally struggle with getting used to it. In your situation, I would definitely recommend trying one out. Give it lots of time, make sure it breaks in, and make sure you understand the feel of the head.
@@Gklplus I am not completely new to faceoffs, I got a weapon x after freshman year because I was on jv, and I played every single position except attack and goalie. I thought it would be good as I mostly played middie and defense a if I was to take a faceoff it would be good for everything. Recently I started getting together with my team's faceoff guy, and I don't think the og weapon x is as great now that I am actually learning techniques and speed. He uses the mark 2f. I would probably take faceoffs with a pole, and I need something that I can really do everything. And based off your review of the 2f, I have been leaning towards that.
@ Gotcha, yea the 2F would be a great option for your situation!
WX2 vs Mark 2f would be interesting, great content!!
@@alexpostelfogo Absolutely! We have lots of matchup videos coming up soon!
Is this better than the mark 2f??
@@Phantom-___- Depends on the player. If you want a softer version of a 2F then you might like it. Feels like a Duel 2 and a 2F combines. The softness of the X-IT seemed to cause the head to struggle in 50/50’s because it would collapse in on itself, and the softness also causes the durability to suffer tremendously. It feels good to use but most people enjoy how the 2F is good in almost every category, the X-IT doesn’t do as well across the board.
@Gklplus thank you. I was thinking about getting the weapon x 2 I'm coming from a burn fo recovery do you think that's a good option
@ We mentioned this in the video, but if you are looking to get into a more traditionally flexing head, the Weapon X 2 is a great option. The 2F is difficult to get used to for some players who come from the Burn FO’s and the CEO’s. The Weapon X 2 is much easier to work with, especially the white one. The natty feels incredibly soft but for some reason it wouldn’t wrap around the ball ask well as the white one. We plan on making a video about the different color options for the WX2 and who would use which one so stay tuned for that!
Thanks
Watching this again and I appreciate the honesty about it breaking like that
@@lp_6014 of course!
You should try and break in the wx a bit more. It is quite stiff but a great head when you do break it in. I use it for foso so the stiffness helps
@@Musicmelo14 are you referring to the OG Weapon X? If so, that’s agreeable. All heads get better with time, but I would rather use the WX2
@ yes I am
@ that’s fair it is better than the original. I just don’t think that the original deserves the heat it gets from the lacrosse community
@@Musicmelo14 the bar is just so high with faceoff heads ever since the 2F was released that any head not on its level is considered bad. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is. Love ECD and they definitely made massive improvements with the 2nd Weapon X. Easily one of our top 3 heads of all time.
@@Gklplus fair it is a high bar to break with the mark 2f thanks for the feedback and I would buy a wpx2 but it costs too much for me lol
throw some rakes and reverse clamps next gopro video
@@kaiiser101 I appreciate the suggestion! We should definitely include rakes. We just assumed most guys prefer to see how the head looks when clamping. Can’t promise any reverse clamps, don’t think we’ve ever pulled one off!

@@lordofkorn3852 🫵
So the weapon X2 is slightly softer then the 2F? Loking for a head for a freshman HS layer. Want something just stiffer then the burn FO which is too soft for him.
@@NathanSmith-hk9iq we would agree with it being slightly softer, at least the white one felt like this. We’ll be dropping a video on the different colors of the WX2 and how they feel as well as which player would prefer which. In our opinion, Burn FO guys will enjoy using the WX2 more than the 2F.
Bro made the gait fo you had a vision
@@lcarax28 haha been getting this a lot!
i feel like this whole video is forgetting that its meant for fosos
@@miguelramirez2260 nope not at all! We would’ve mentioned if the head was bad for Foso use. In fact, that’s the industry standard for all heads. If it can’t be used for field it probably shouldn’t be used for faceoffs. However, we do need our heads to warp a bit. Can’t get the head to flex the way we want if it doesn’t have some warping to it. Would love to hear your suggestions on how we could make our next video more accommodating for foso use, anything we left out let us know!

Hey gkl, can you please give a flexibility rating out of ten for the of wx, wx2, 2f, reflex burn fo. It would mean a lot to me. Love your vids keep making them
@@Laxandfishing definitely going to make a video about this soon!
I'm currently rocking a 2F right now, but I also enjoy occasionally the og warrior burn fo for 50/50s. I used the og weapon x natty and liked it a little but still to stiff, not my jam. How does the bottom rail seem to hold up for bottom sidewall moves? and would you recommend this in my case?
@@jak3morgan the WX2 would definitely be a head worth trying for you! The bottom rail on the white and natty versions is solid. Very sturdy and holds its shape
Soon
In the ecd video they said the white is the stiffest and the natty is the softest but here its swapped which one is which?
@@guyonthestreet2502 fully aware of the controversy. You can see on the film how much more the white version wrapped and twisted around the ball than the natty. Also, the warping on the white version formed much quicker than the natty. Same amount of reps were taken with both. Both heads were great but we really enjoyed using the white version! You could always pick up both to see for yourself😂
Just to clarify my numbers are based on our FEA simulations and lab testing - not face-off feel which could be different

@@Gklplus I was hoping that it would have "Veni Vidi Vici" under the ball stop like the og weapon x
You know you gotta run back the Burn Vs WX2
Now that would be interesting
Yess
If I want something softer should I go for a white or natty
natty but in the live reps the white one seemed to wrap around the ball a lot nicer
White. The natural feels softer in the hands but when facing off with it the white one is absolute butter. Just look at how our white one warped versus the warping with the natural. More warping = greater flexibility. If you want it to be soft go white, we are also confident that the black will be just as flexible as the white.
I’m gunna be honest, I loved the og wx. I am playing full mid in addition to facing off add did well in tie ups fir me
Ain’t no problem with that! Maybe you’ll love the wx2 natural

What are your thoughts on normal M2f vs M2f stiff? Is there a big difference?
@@ethanstack2059 we can notice a difference, but it’s not a huge difference for most. We’ve grown so used to the normal 2F that we prefer it over the stiff. We also found that our stiff 2F’s broke in some weird spots faster than any of our normal 2F’s

Great review. Bummer about the durability. Basically bummer about everything about it.
@@stephenray3838 it’s tough but we have to be honest!
The 2f copied the duel anyway
How so? The 2F far surpassed the Duel 2 in pretty much every category: durability, stringability, ground balls, warp resistance, performance. The design isn't a copy of the 2F (like the X-It is copying the 2F). To me it's not even close, Stringking came up with something unique.
@@MaconCoolShitthe duel cane out first. The 2f copied the strut placement and the face shape. They took the idea of the shortened throat. Is the 2f the better option? For sure 100% but they definitely took a lot of inspiration from the duel
@@Laxreviews "taking inspiration" and "copying" are two wildly different things. Stringking is notorious for developing heads for years before releasing them, so there's a good chance their design was already in the works before the Duel ever came out. The faceshape of the Duel and the 2F are not that close in reality, and the strut design is pretty generic so saying they copied that is a reach. What's not a reach is saying the X-It definitely copied the face shape, sidewall strut design, and sidewall holes of the 2F. That is not up for debate.
