Listening to ro this in 2024 artists arent allowed to say what shes saying omg
Shes a sweet girl.
Aretha franklin wasn't impresse.lol
Ms. Stone seems very intelligent and sweet, BUT she does not understand what "cultural appropriation" is all about. She is a WHITE person living in a world that worships her "look". A world where she can move freely and DO what she wants. She does not seem to understand the struggle that OTHERS have been through to make a living from art that THEY created, while she as a White person, has made millions from that art BECAUSE she is White. She gets to pass that money down to the next generation, while the actual creators of the music or art are discriminated against because of their race and CAN'T be as financially successful to build the SAME wealth to pass down to THEIR next generation. She speaks with the kind of ease expected of someone who is privileged due to their race, who is ignorant, clueless, & a bit insensitive about the issue, about the HISTORY of a people, their long-standing struggle & thinks it "doesn't matter", that people are just being "too precious" about a culture that belongs to THEM. It is okay to appreciate a culture, BUT their is a level of respect that needs to be paid by NOT culturally appropriating.
Nothing successful of that horrible garbage😡👎
You give credit back by singing that kind of song. Singing soul is the ultimate credit. End of story
Great interview! I love how Joss is so diplomatic: "They are being precious". Translation - They think way too much of themselves and their culture. LOL
Cultural appropriation is just a myth. The idea that nobody can use anything that their own race didn’t invent is madness. It’s like saying only white people can use the internet.
She's a little naive when it comes to race. Race matters. She has white privilege while portraying the idea of not have it or knowing what it is. Really....
She made a very thoughtful comment. I was impressed by it.
Misty Copeland is extraordinarily overrated. Her technique is very sloppy and her ability is poor. People that really do understand ballet know that she’s not very good, but those that are outside of the valley community put her on a pedestal because she’s black. She gets recognised because she’s black, not because she’s actually aesthetically pleasing to watch as a ballerina. She makes choices that she hasn’t earned the right to make things that she should be able to do that without putting in the legwork. The truth is if she does these things because she can’t actually perform the task. She’s not pleasing to watch and she has never moved me to the point of tears and I’ve seen her many times…. When I see her dance, I feel very disconnected and almost bored. She’s a very messy dancer and I think she has really only gotten any recognition because she’s black.
@lilydewinters4729 - now why would a major ballet company with everything to lose, put a "messy dancer" in their productions as the principal? Your criticism of her seems based on something else.
Chris is beyond cool, Chris it's Eliezel I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and sending you and the family many blessings and thank you for always being good to me anyway MUCH ❤ 😁🤩🥰
I love Blue Eyed Soul artists Like Justin Timberlake Amy Winehouse JOJO Teena Marie Michael McDonald Dusty Springfield and Joss Stone
"I dont think its an issue" Yes thats exactly the way you should treat people who are offended at every damn thing.
Joss, you're a great singer and you're self -aware. You're about to have a baby. I really hope you take this opportunity to maintain your health, your voice, and your child's health by quitting cigarettes. Mick Jagger told you to quit years ago. Here's your chance, wonderful lady.
How not to fall in love with her everytime time she does an interview 😫😍
Wouldn't be an interview without bringing up race, huh? Geeze, come on guy
Did yall watch/listen to the same video I did??? Though this interview is culturally unsurprising...it's still a hard pass for me...Joss Stone doesn't acknowledge her white privilege at all, she is British white women. She wouldn't experience racism...ever. We don't just "share" culture...whiteness appropriates culture, whiteness literally steals culture and demands that this behavior be acceptable, it's not. Her comments are reckless and there's nothing precious about that.
O shut up just because y'all came up with something doesnt mean y'all can be the only once doing it.
Chris so cute 😘
Chris seems cool ☺️😘 im chris to
Aww she doesn’t even know there’s a line 🥰 she sang the way she love ❤️ I love it! There’s shouldn’t be any kind of norm in anything! She’s absolutely beautiful
Music belongs to everyone.
I would not consider Joss a trailblazer, she has a great voice and has made the most of her talent.Amy Winehouse on the other hand definitely, she was in a domain of her own
Awe Jake Gyllanhal is a dream 🛌 💭
Ok so what happened to the guy’s sound ?
I’m daddy’s son and I loved this video
Very nice Joss - I love your normal accent and I think an interviewer who comes straight out and says he's been a fan forever in this respects would do the trick for you even better Im sure. You have a nice warm hearted sincerety and sense of virtue that is a rare commodity in these times on stage. cia dear! see ya! Im showin you off here - hope you dont mind dear - musicfromrizzo.info/greatest_song_performance_picks_of_Ms_Joss_Stone_(musicfromrizzo).html - from time to time we've even had you on here: 10mostbeautifulwomen.com cheers!
Cultural appropriation …. The answer Joss gave him was so on point. A while back someone said to me " I don't like when white women (referring to Joss) sing like blacks". My answer was "Oh, but is ok when black women sing like white people? I mean that is like saying if one is from Italy, Spain or where ever he should never sing a song in English if he comprehends the language. That is rediculous. Joss is so true to herself and will surely remain so …. Respect!
Speaks so well, genuine, intelligent, kind and funny ❤️
So often, most young artists are happy to ignore the race discussion. But elite classical artists, and especially elite ballet dancers, cannot if only because the discussion (rejection, disdain, disgust) is being brought to them all the time. And note: Without superlative artistry, there is no "celebrity" -- NONE.
😍 sweet angel
such inspiration and her journey is what a lot of other minorities in general face. But aside from her skin colour and accomplishment, and just from a spectator's point of view, she demonstrates such focus and grace and her technique is incomparable.
Christina and joss stone have an amazing soulful voice
❤💔
everything she said is so true!!!! She's a genuine artist!
I think it is more of a problem when you try to take the style of a culture and try to claim it as your own. At least she did acknowledge that Aretha Franklin paved the way for them. It's the dumb little heifers like Kylie Jenner who steal culture and claim it as something she started.
That's one smart woman
😋✌️❤️🎶🎵🎵😍❤️👧💙💚💛👧🧠🌎🌹🎵🎶💋🥰🤗
I can watch this over 1000 times and never get tired of it
I like how she says "record" lol, on the serious side, I knew who she is but never heard any of her stuff up until today, I watched interviews and live concerts and she really caught my attention.
Joss Stone talks [about] cultural appropriation! Stop raping English language and tunin it into American!
I hate what bisexual men have to go through. Props to the openly bisexual men out there.
Why do these idiot interviewers always have to bring gender and race into it ... her genitals and skin colour have nothing to do with her humanity, her sweet spirit, her soul, her values and her respect for all that is good.
I know with all due respect African-Americans always tempt to get racial
Please don't compare this beautiful spirit called Joss Stone to the fake Oprah Winfrey ... Joss Stone is authentic and an original ... she doesn't blurt out pious slogans like Winfrey.
Dominique Deveraux
Music is beautiful , it brings people together. Some lose the msg within the song because of their thinking .why can't you appreciate the song, dance , laugh and be happy . Instead of being close minded
People are obsessed over her money because the show is about rich women!
Either you have soul or you don't. Joss has soul, I could tell you that with out ever seeing her. Cultural appropriation is just one person taking credit for another's talent, and in its self racist stereotype. See past the color and free your mind. I love you Joss, you keep it real.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Joss never appropriated the culture she’s sung rnb from the start and sung it WELL end of conversation. And yes appropriation is very real but no Joss has always been cool and I love her music. The Winehouse questions are a bit forward she didn’t know Amy why are you asking her about her...?
Cultural Appropriation IS A BUNCH OF CRAP. BLACKS HAVE BECOME SO WHITE WASHED THAT THEY LOST THEIR SOUL. NOW, THEY ARE ANGRY BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE FOUND IT. They need to feel proud that these great artists did not let the culture of SOUL MUSIC DIE!!!
