Hey, just curious about the torque specifications for the 4 mounting bolts. I have seen 37 foot lbs. and some have said 59 foot lbs. Have you heard of both, and if so, why are there two specs? Thanks.

How did you achieve your compound miter cuts for the space frame uprights

Bro you need to do the inside skin of the doors and not just the inner sides of the doors and also the back panel. My Tundra has a back window so I took the panel off of that back wall and did the inside back wall and the back side of the panel. Made a big difference. Also doing the full doors will really help your sound system.

Thank you for the video. My "02 Tundra is in need of just this setup! I camp in it and this would be an excellent setup for me. My shell doesn't seem to have power to the lights either which I can't find where the problem lies, but doing this would make it nice to run light strips like you have done. All sorts of possibilities. Thanks again... Video saved

I just replaced all ball joints on my 2WD this weekend. If you’re considering it save yourself the headaches I had and get TOYOTA parts from a dealer. I purchased all Delphi parts and the uppers needed about 1/2” of metal shaved off of the mounting area to get them to fit in the control arm. The lowers were fine at least. You will also need new tie rod ends since you cannot reuse any kind of ball joint! I also recommend anyone doing this to get new Timken bearings, races, hub seals, and grease. OEM is Timken and it takes only an extra 30 minutes to get the hub off, clean it up, pound out the races with a steel punch, seat new ones with a $20 bearing press kit, pack em with grease and put it back on the spindle. Also don’t bother trying to get new hubs unless you get them directly from Toyota. Any aftermarket hub that says it fits a first gen 2WD is wrong. Make sure you have a new metal outer hub seal/cap. The previous owner didn’t have it installed on one side and the bearing failed catastrophically. A 2-1/2” PVC coupler worked great to hammer on the new outer cap. Also if your brake rotors are looking a little rough, replace them when you do the bearings. The rotors have to be replaced with the hub off the spindle so might as well knock that out too. Also unrelated but I changed out the clutch hydraulics and soft hose on mine with 180K on it. Chocolate pudding came out of the bottom of the master cylinder. New AISIN (Toyota OEM) cylinders are on amazon for $80. If you have high mileage it’s a good idea to replace these so you’re not stranded with a dead clutch pedal. It was a pretty easy job, just tedious to get the soft hose body clips off.

I know this truck is long gone, but do you recall if the weight of this bumper made the front end sag at all? And did you end up making any suspension adjustments to compensate?

I drilled my hole on the frame extension hole. Think that would be an issue while wiinching

I did mine a few years ago, and can happily state it DID make a difference. I did the doors, the floor, the x-cab, even the roof! My only concern afterwards was how much hotter it'd be in the summer. I think it does make it a bit hotter, but not unbearable.... Using a heat gun is the way to go - makes it real easy to smush the pcs into place

I know it’s 3 years old, but those two wires (white and red) on the bracket in the back, top left corner. Need to be insulated. Over time they will rub and short out. I hope you don’t do this type of work professionally.

Where did you source all the parts? I.e screws edge trim, seam tape, rubber gaskets latches and so on. If you see this thanks for the inspiration and help redoing my FWC!
