      Lisa was the same way when we started. She still asks questions and has me demonstrate and explain why I am doing things. Watch your husband, ask questions. Study the terminology so you understand the language. Do not be afraid to say you do not understand, ask to help on everything so you learn. Sailing is so much fun, it truly clears your head so you live in the moment. It is also dependent on planning ahead such as navigation and most importantly weather. Have fun, enjoy the adventure. You are living a dream so many people have and never do :-). Randy

      We appreciate your feedback. When I was much younger I was a Red Cross sailing instructor. I taught basic sailing and the first section in our teaching materials was learning basic terminology. You need to have a basic understanding so you can communicate aboard as well as also understand advice given by more experienced sailors. The sailing language evolved over 100s of years and is mostly universal so all sailors can understand.. .

      Yes, he is most attracted when we have L’Aventure there with the frig. On as it pumps and discharges water. The running water attracts him. He is looking for fresh water to drink. If there are other boats in the marina and they are running their air conditioner or frig cooling system it will also attract him. Very nice general overview for new sailors. I have just a couple additional comments. As I'm sure you know, not all cats are created equal. For example, many cats can run with their main while reach or running dead downwind. On these points of sail (150 or below), I nearly always run wing on wing with my main and genoa or code 0 if I'm flying it in light winds. The second comment I would make is that it's airways a good idea to keep the critical lines / working sheets wrapped on the wenches as well as clutched.

    • @sailingonlaventure
      @sailingonlaventure ปีที่แล้ว

      Great comments! We keep lines under load clutched and /or firmly secured to the appropriate winch too. Thanks for adding this clarification!
