Max Payne 1 is still the best. The second was a throw together, and the 3rd felt less like Max Payne.
I liked his look in max Payne 3 where he looked like a combination of James mccaffrey and the max Payne 2 look. It would also be a nice tribute to the actor
James model is the best for me. Sam looks like a cringe Mr. Bean.

I don't mean to knock Sam Lake's look, but I think the actor from Max Payne 2 would have been better suited for it.
I have this feeling that in 10 or so years AI will be so advanced that we'll be able to recreate any videogame we want, with the most up to date graphics.

it's crazy that the AI model seemingly could determine that the game car model is based off BMW and it manages to add the emblem to the rear that clearly strikes a resemblance to BMW logo. I don't know if 1:1 accuracy is omitted due to licensing purposes but it's still looks great.

I feel like video games should be able to reach this graphical quality but for some reason it doesn't come close. It always ends up looking so flat. Maybe developers need to have more contrast in the shadows and highlights?
I think it's a sum of many aspects. Now that path tracing with ray reconstruction plus many advanced post-processing techniques are available for developers, I think we are pretty close to situation where this kind of style can be achieved. Of course, when it's done with AI, it's full of imperfections, but I think developers could use AI-generated material as a reference so they could see easily how the colors, lighting and reflections should look. I'd love to see a reboot of Driver series with its characteristic yet revamped damage physics, 70's cars, old US cities, with photorealistic, old film-style graphics, just like Miami footage here looks in some of the clips. Technology is already there, it's just about money. That kind of games would be something unique and far enough from GTA to stand out.
hah... youd wish. make it 10x darker so nothing is visible + smudgy as fuck antialiasing. don't stop there, throw in slow ass snooze fest combat and unending self reflecting bs dialogue for a true cinematic experience.
