    Came across the newer version of this kit (with the two additional face buttons plus the optional rear shoulder button module) on Handheld Legend and it immediately piqued my curiosity. I have always loved the DMG for its form factor, but the classic Gameboy library was never all that compelling to me so I have never had a reason to mod/rebuild a DMG until now. I have already ordered all the parts to do my own build and can't wait for everything to arrive. He has a Gameboy Advance SP version now and I'm already eager to do a build for that as well. Plus he's offering pre-soldered versions which is super nice since soldering those stupid clicky button pads on is an absolute nightmare lol.

    I just want to update my comment because i feel like i learned alot from this build. Keep in mind when building this that all of these modification companies making the buttons and membranes have their own fitment issues. I use the following and now have a rather wonderful gameboy macro. 1.Extreme rate translucent black shell kit 2.Retro game restore smoke black faceplate 3.translucent green ds lite buttons from handheld legends 4. Clear membranes from handheld legends 5. 30 gauge kaynar wire & kapton tape 6. Four 2mmx1mm magnets(joe bleeps) When building this the triggers from handheld legend did not fit the extreme rate shell. Extreme rate made their kit to fit together as one package. So after completion the triggers had no room to travel. The membranes from handheld legend fit this faceplate perfectly. The extreme rate ones did not hug the buttons very well. When placing the speaker into the faceplate. I recommend taking out all of the buttons and setting the faceplate over the screen to tape the speaker onto the correct position of the ribbom cable before assembly. Use the magnets to help extend the length of the trigger posts so they actually fit. This video is extremely helpful and so isnt the Joe Bleeps video. I wish there was more out there on this faceplate as it is great and comes with just about everything you need when you order it. If you have the money i highly recommend the boxy pixel shell with helders flex amp. I had the pleasure of making both and fhe boxy pixel set up is not only easier but it is better. The big issue with those is finding a legitimate switch speaker.

    • @primetimefunkmods3
      @primetimefunkmods3 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The image is what you burn onto the SD card. You use a program like Balena Etcher to stamp the image onto the SD card, and then when you put it in, it has all the stuff you need for the unit to run. You may want to do some reading about this before you attempt it. The image has Retropie, but the image has to be specifically tooled for this device and its drivers for it to not be a nightmare to set up.

    I enjoy working on old consoles and games. I recently plugged in my SNES and the controllers are being odd. I have cleaned them before. I was playing SMW and noticed when I held down the Y-button, Yoshi would continually stick his tongue out as if I were pressing it multiple times. The d-pad was odd as well, pushing any direction once would move the cursor twice. On my second controller, only the b-button worked. Strangely, pressing the b-button would also pause the game. Mario would jump and the game would pause. Is this an issue that can be resolved by cleaning the controller or swapping out the pads, or is this a deeper issue?
