    I'm a little unclear on what this does. Does it improve the GBA sound quality? The original GBA all the way up to the SP had this awful kind of static-y quality to it.

      It adds a ton of clarity and volume! Totally worth the price.

    2:30 is better then 15:23 flat trumpet...so bad. Good tuto but it doesn't improve the sound it deteriorate it, against with all mods, despite it.

    So... At first i ordered my CleanAmp Pro and dehiss kit with a speaker. Then i ordered my shell and button. Then, i decided my AGS-101 screen wasn't clear enough and i needed a rechargeable battery. And i wanted it to be all from the same place/brand... So i paid shipping from the UK to Canada 3 times while it was available near me...
    Damn that whole GBA modding adventure is tiring me...

      While I had no delivery issues since I am in UK, I at first planned go just get a screen and maybe a battery... at the end I got everything the offered and more, and the only original thing a out my GBA is its motherboard haha

    I’m installing a funnyplaying speaker. When soldering the 2 wires, they don’t end up crisscrossing like the oem speaker? Top wire was soldered to the hole closest to label SP1 while bottom wire was soldered to the hole closest to label C49

    if I have extremely low sound on the HP of my GBA) not on the headphone. is the cleanamp allows you to bypass the volume potentiometer, the original amp and the cp4 capacitor?

    • @primetimefunkmods3
      @primetimefunkmods3  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There could be a number of reasons, but I would suggest doing the install and seeing the difference. Make sure you use a new speaker (the old ones weren't really made for the tolerances required by the amps)

  • @franznerdinand8055

    Thank you for the comparison and the step by step! I'm deciding what parts I want right now (deciding everything before buying anything!) and I've never soldered before but. You do it beautifully, and it's given me confidence that I can, too. I learned a lot here!

    • @primetimefunkmods3
      @primetimefunkmods3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use an original speaker, but there are chances of overdriving it and damaging over time. New speakers are 3 bucks, so I say go for it. 😏

      @@primetimefunkmods3 Ah good, I've already got mine and I didn't order a speaker. I've ordered one now but I want to put mod in and use the original until it arrives. I'm also disappointed since the shell I ordered was missing so I'm waiting on that to put in an IPS screen as well.

      @@jellykid I would start with the basics; what kind of speaker are you using? Was that speaker working just fine before? If so, I would check over your solder points and make sure you haven’t accidentally bridged anything or soldered to the wrong spot.

      @@primetimefunkmods3 thanks for getting back! Yeah so I tried both speakers (old and a new 1w speaker) and they both sound the same tinny quite sound but even the old speaker didn’t sound that bad before. I have a couple questions.
    I have a Sremtch 9160. Set a 360Celcius.
    The smallest tip included was horrible. it turned black the second i pre-heated it and tin wouldn't stick to it.
    I had to change for the original tip wich was a bit too big for that job.
    The very tip of the iron, wouldn't melt the solder, it would turn it into a paste that would resolidify as a brittle clay unless i touched it with the side of the tip of the iron.
    Also, my tin would form a bubble at the tip of itself, and would flow to the iron only when the bubble reached a certain size, after feeding inches over inches of tin wire, wich made it impossible to tin very small part in very clogged area.
    I actually killed my GBA trying to install the wire-free Dehum/Dehiss kit because the iron would burn the board before melting the tin... It would desolder the chips and parts on the board, before melting the solder it was in contact with!
    Reviews for the iron itself seems magestic. The temperature was set as per RetroSix's Luke recommendation.
    Touching a solder point and just drawing a line to create a contact is inconceivable. I repeat myself but, i had to use the side of the tip to melt the solder, and hope i could work it before it congealed back...
    Am i dumb???

    • @Duomaxwell02M
      @Duomaxwell02M 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Were you using a clean tip? Dirty tips cause this problem. Use a brass sponge & tip tinner to clean your soldering tip. Never use sandpaper to clean your tip. Also use a chisel tip, not the smallest cone tip. I believe the Sremtch 9160 has one.
      Finally, flux is your best friend when soldering. Never solder without flux. Its like playing a video game on hard mode with a broken controller.
