Vacuuming your Above Ground Intex Pool with the Hayward Skimmer and how to backwash your pool.
In this video, we will show you how easy it is to hook up an Intex vacuum hose with a standard vacuum head to your Hayward Skimmer. It is super easy to keep your pool clean with very minimal effort and time needed to get the job done fast.
In addition, we will show you the proper steps to backwash your above-ground pool after you vacuum.
We have links at the bottom of this description for what we are using in this video. You can always use different brands and lengths of pool vacuum hoses as long as they fit the Hayward vacuum adapter part. Also, you can purchase different styles of vacuum heads to vacuum around the rounded edges.
The Intex plunger valve is a handy part of connecting the backwash hose.
Also, check out our link for the Skimmer Socks they are helpful for drawing in even finer pieces of debris into the skimmer that can sometimes get through your skimmer basket.

    Mover and Shaker I’m really thinking about going this route for next spring 2025 as we just lowered the water below our return for our INTEX 16x48 ultra frame for the winter and covered it yesterday. I have some questions as far as the filter and pump. Did you replace both sand filter and pump ? We’re still using the smaller INTEX 26 lb sand tank and 2100 gph pump that came with pool in 2020. But as you mentioned the flow is much better especially going from 1.25 intake to 2 inch but now is your return at the pump 2 inch too ?is the pump hardwired or do you plug it into outlet? How much sand does the filter take? In your other video I like how you doubled up the top hats to seal off the original intakes. I also want to vacuum through the skimmer as you. Your set up looks nice and clean and more efficient with the upgrade. We too have tried the INTEX hanging skimmer basket but just doesn’t get the flow with that 1.25 single opening. Can you provide the amount the pump,filter&skimmer upgrade cost? Again always love your tips ideas and suggestions!!

      Actually, no, that is not true. There are hoses and adapters that can fit those and connect to vacuums however if you have an outboard Skimmer, then you use the vacuum attachments.Directly from the skimmer From the outside. We also have a robotic vacuum that is chargeable. It runs forever. It was one of the best investments we ever made Because it will take care of the bottom, and when we get in, we take care of the top with a net and it's all good.

    Thanks for these videos. They’re so helpful for me. In regards to the pump itself, do you empty the sand out of it or do any other process of trying to remove all water from within the big basin? I imagine it’s extremely heavy with a ton of wet sand in there…and then I also wonder about storing it with wet sand inside. Thoughts?

    • @MoverandShaker

      I usually leave the sand in the pump and I open the bottom drain and let it drain completely and leave it as such.And then just cover the top hole of the pump with saran wrap or foil Just enough to keep the bugs in the air out. We use a dolly to cart it to the shed.

      It does move a little slow. It does a good job vacuuming. However, an outboard skimmer is highly recommended as it works so much faster and does a better job overall. It works fine on the wrinkles, we honestly eventually switched to this more expensive amzn.to/3zIc6Z5 and model of vacuum Because it's easier to set up, considering all you have to do is charge it and drop it in. • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Low flow problems occur when the water flow through the chlorinator is less than the minimum flow rate required for proper operation. This can be caused by a variety of factors such as a closed valve, a dying pump, clogged filters, or a blocked pipe. Did you ever make sure that the chlorinator did not require a certain specific size sand pump Gph wise. If the problem wasn't there before or it's just started for the first time on start up then I would definitely think your pump may not be strong enough.

    Our pool doesn't have that thing that you removed at the beginning of the video, so the hose adaptor doesn't have anything to attach/thread into, the water pretty much comes out of the pool. I'm not sure if there is a part that can be purchased for this.

      It still holding up very nicely. By the pump, there is a post and by the footer. There is some rust about 2 inches by 1 inch. We will apply paid wrap to that we aren't too worried at all.

      @danielchamorro1288 You're welcome and I just want to add that. We are very meticulous that we wash off every bit of salt. After we get out of our pool, it takes about ten minutes, but it's worth it so that it can air dry salt free.

    Question .. is it ok to add cyanuric acid while the salt intex chlorinator is on ? Heard people say use sock method ..have you ever added it directly in skimmer ?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't usually have the chlorinater running when I'm adding chemicals. I don't usually add shock directly to the skimmer. I usually add it around the pool, trying to spread it out evenly and if needed use your brush to dissolve any leftover product.

      @@MoverandShaker so it’s not shock it’s stabilizer cyanric acid which keeps sun from burning away chemicals..supposedly it’s low on my pool but I currently have boost mode on until tomorrow so thinking I shouldn’t add it until it’s off ?

Well it did come on after about 35 min and ran for 4 hours than shit off and no power again. Looked at than pushed reset over and over came on and shut off. Have any idea what might be causing this? This skimmer works great, i have one. Question, i had to change pools for this year but the top metal tube (where the skimmer clamps to) is not flat and not round. I would definitely shake it up, just to make sure the ink gets moving a little bit before you pop it in. I'm not sure why it would be unsafe. I do know that HP is starting to get very smart and you can no longer use expire cartridges. Because they realize so many people getting away with it. They've developed technology. Now To prevent it.
